Some Toys 'R' Us stores selling BioShock early (and you could win one!)

Normally, we wouldn't condone leaving work early to play video games, so hear us out. You see, word on the street is that the street date for BioShock (yeah, the one with the awesome demo) has been broken by some US retailers (mostly ones with backwards Rs).

If you look at the receipt above, this lucky shopper not only managed to find BioShock early, but he got it for a steal using the deals we posted yesterday. So, here's what to do. Call your local Toys 'R' Us and see if they've got 'em and if they're selling. If it's a go, let people know about it in the comments. If you look at the receipt you can see they used a 20% off coupon to get Madden for $48.

as much as i hate EA, and dislike reselling games to the profits whores at EB, i wonder how much you would get back if you did this only to resell madden(without the coupon)?

probably break even right? EB gives like $30 on new games? i'm not really sure cause i've only done such a thing once, and the game wasn't too new.

Now that im safe, we here in the UK are getting seriously screwed with the prices. We should get it for ~£15. But I can see this game costing the full £40 (~$80)

Read the other comments, it's half price because he bought madden 07. As for UK prices, you have to remember that we pay 17.5% VAT on everything. So even if it was £30 ($60) we'd still be paying an extra £5.25 on top. So, is £5 that much, really? ... I'd say yeah, just 'cause I'm cheap.
If I wasn't already twitching at the mere thought of waiting another 8 days for BioShock, I'd wait about 2 weeks until GameStop does it's usual price-cut down to £34.99. Probably try and get some money off using my GAME reward points... Or should I keep it for Halo 3... Hm...

It's not even "the full £40" either, it's the full £50, which is the RRP of most Xbox 360 games in the UK

Let's see... the Times Square Toys R Us opens at 10AM. It's 9:15AM right now. 15 minutes for a quick shower, then I'll stroll there from Chelsea and see if I can snag Madden and Bioshock.... ;)

I've tried times square for other littles tricks before based on street dates and TRUs wierd sales, i only got them to break a street date once, and thats when i got a kid to "check the storage".

Every time you post one of these retailers-breaking-street-date articles (i.e. GHII, 360 Elites,) I run/call all over creation trying to find it and I always end up sorely disappointed. Nah, I'm just going to have to keep myself busy with GRAW2 until next Tuesday...

I still wouldnt pay 29 bucks for this game. The demo was absolute rubbish.

You're retarded...the demo was SICK! After a long day and several hours I finally got it downloaded completely and let me tell you...

ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT! I FLOVE the controls. The graphics are AMAZING. The gameplay? Sweet and fluid. The bad guys are incredible. And the storyline is beyond engrossing.

Seriously you must be a sony fanboy in deep denial and/or sadness over the fact that you will NEVER see this game on your beloved overpriced $600 machine that just happens to play games.

All I'm saying is that it just felt like a doom3/prey game. Just another FPS in my books.

While This Guy did go a bit overboard, he is absolutely correct in the Doom 3/Prey comparisons. While Bioshock is certainly better than those titles, the basic concept of atmosphere and setting covering up what would be a fairly pedestrian game otherwise are spot-on, and no arguments to the contrary I've seen do anything to prove that wrong. The "superpowers" gimmick is nice, but most of it has been done before with lesser graphics.

This game's shelf-life is ridiculously limited, especially with the big name titles coming out for the holidays right around the corner - and don't fool yourself, Bioshock is not a "big name" to anyone but game nerds like us. Considering there is no multiplayer, I will guarantee everyone here that we will see a price drop on this before Thanksgiving.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't some run-of-the-mill FPS that will get a 6 in EGM and be forgotten by the end of next month - but you guys creaming yourselves over this title are far, far too easily amused.

I ordered Bioshock yesterday with the Madden deal at TRU online. I just checked and it stated that Bioshock was being held until release date 8/14/2007.

Maybe we're all in luck

The stores in Pineville, NC and Gastonia, NC do not have them.

The store in Harrisburg, PA responded with "we don't have that game" after having me on hold for 10 minutes.

I don't really trust them, but I'm not motivated enough to follow up on it.
