Is there a graph that shows numbers on the side too? I'd like to know what those spikes actually represent.

These figures are stupid. sure there may have been 45m downloads but how many people bought the game, not just got the demo? if companies only made 30m and games dont cost a dollar then i think number of real purchases is far, far lower than 45m!

So what's your point exactly? In case you didn't notice the article also states "average game returning 156 percent of the initial investment within a year." Also, the number of total downloads IS imporant regardless of whether or not they all result in purchases. How many people are trying out the games is also important information.

They need to bring the Dracula X and TMNT 2 to XBLA. I guess I'm in the majority on this one, as thus far March '07 (TMNT, SOTN, Worms) has been the peak of the XBox Live Arcade service.

Developers are getting 156% of the initial investment back within a year?

So, in other words, most of them could afford to drop their initial prices by one-third, and then again after the first year. Year one would get them their entire investment back, and everything after that would be pure profit.

Or, failing that, discount everything in the marketplace by 50% after a year. There are plenty of games on XBLA that I'd gladly pay $5 for, but I won't bother with as long as they're $10.

Where in that chart is the place in time when Microsoft enabled automatic downloads on all XBLA trial games?

I would think the auto-download feature would skew the results heavily in favor of Microsoft. I know I haven't tried even half the games auto-downloaded on my XBox 360.

A graph without an actual scale is misleading at best, useless at worst. It's statistically irrelevant.

For all we know, the scale runs from 0-100.

I mean, they say they're "expecting" 45 million downloads by the end of the year... again, for all we know, they may be 44.9 million short right now. They probably aren't, but then MS has been known to overestimate and underdeliver.

I know that the minute I finally buy a 360 (waiting for signs of the smaller chip), I'm gonna end up buying, like, 10 XBLA games and maybe ONE actual disc game. The stuff on XBLA just seem so much more interesting to me than everything that's actually being sold in stores. I think XBLA is the biggest selling poitn of that console for me personally.

The best thing about XBLA is downloading these small games to tide you over while your wallet recovers from the big games or during a drought. its great.
