And the meaningful updates just keep on coming over at the Smash Bros. Brawl dojo. Today's update reveals Zero Suit Samus' up special move, which allows her to use her Plasma Whip to latch on the edge of the level, allowing her to climb back on up and into the battle. The update also hints at other characters being able to perform this move, causing us to think that either Samus can lose her Plasma Whip to another character or there will be a similar in-game weapon.

I don't see how this leads to her possibly losing the whip. He probably means Link and Samus can also do that (Which they can).

This isn't specific to just Samus - see last line of entry at official site.
But what's actually note-worthy here is Bowser! What great animations...

Just a nitpick - I doubt this is her up special move. Link's similar move is not his up special move. That'd be a pretty bad up special move in most situations!

Sorry, I missed that it really does say it's her up special move :-\ I imagined this as analogous to Link's grapple move, which is no-directional and shoots sideways. My impression is that seems like a poor up/b move, or at the very least unconventional, but I guess we'll see.

Excuse me, poor recovery move?! Maybe for a noob. Not trying to flame here, but I sorta take offense to that. I play Samus all the way, and though I don't feel this worth a daily update, this makes all my hard work of mastering the grapple timing pay off. Recovering via grapple is a tad more effective than Samus's screw attack, and more moves can be pulled off from the position, especially on some maps. Not to mention it's great for strategy. Sorry for my rant, but next time think before you diss Samus! :)

So is this the quicker version of Samus's extended grapple beam whip in Melee. Because that's cool.

Crap, hvnlysoldr's comment just dawned on me: I may have to relearn the timing all over again for Zero Suit Samus. Ah well. I mastered both Sheik and Zelda at one point, so I'm up to the challenge!

He's referencoing Samus/Link, NWF, a little dense there eh?

Shadow31 - I don't doubt the grapple is a valuable move, not at all. I've played plenty of Samus and Link and I am *not* dissing Samus at all! But if the grapple is up/b (which would be a change), then you won't have access to the normal one anymore! Isn't it preferable to have access to both of them? The grapple is only useful in very specific edge situations, while most up/b moves are valuable in all sorts of normal situations, as well.

I don't mean to spam the comments, but I would really appreciate some help. As big of SSBM vet as I am, I never bothered to learn Samus' grapple extension. Some sites said to press Z, then immediately "hammer up and down on the control pad." Is this accurate? I tried it over and over but to no avail. Is it the toggle or d-pad?
