Is it just me, or does it seem like Joystiq is a freaking advertisment for Gametap? Do I really need to know every little game that gets released for it? Even the PS3, 360, Wii don't get this type of coverage.

Are you serious? Once a week we cover GameTap's new releases. http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametapthursday/

Or, perhaps, check our total GameTap coverage. http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametap/

Now, compare that to our XBLA coverage: http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla

You really think we're overdoing it?

"Even the PS3, 360, Wii don't get this type of coverage." Really? Try again.

Actually I do think Gametap coverage is overdone, especially relative to the interests of your audience. But this is not my blog, it is yours, so take the feedback as you will.

1. Hitman is an assassin.
2. Assassins could be ninjas.
3. Ninjas fought pirates.
4. Pirates wore eye patches for night vision.
5. Night vision for Hitman.
6. Hitman brings night vision to Game Tap.

The only problem with the free service is that sometimes the games disappear too quick, or without warning.

I started to play Hitman 1, but it was only there a week, and then suddenly it was gone.. when i was only about 4 levels in.

It doesn't matter so much with the smaller "Virtual Console" games.. but its annoying with the much longer modern games. (on the other hand, tomb raider legend hung around for MONTHS)

It'd be nice to have

(a) A countdown timer.. and games up for a set period. (3 weeks-1 month), or

(b) Once the game expires you can continue to play it, but can't download ANY other games until you delete it.

Is Gametap really worth it? I think the only way I would get it is if I had a PC hooked up to my HDTV.

It's great. Almost 1000 games from 17 different platforms for 7-10$ a month. It completely blows the VC/XBLA/PSN out of the water. Of course you'd better just check the games list first.
