Madden '08 Xbox 360 vs. PS3 comparison video

Just buy Madden 07. It's cheaper and looks the same.

I played this game a bit last night on 360. It is a significant improvement over the 07 version. The reviews are reflecting this as well. The reviews also reflect the superiority of the 360 version.

Ports. I hate them. If you do a port, then do it well.
If not, then don't do it.
Back in the old days between the PS2 and Xbox, ports were made from the PS2 to the Xbox, and gues what ? Alot of them sucked after they got ported.

The problem is not the console, it is the developers talent and resources. Now I do think they have the talent, usually they will get limited time and resources to do a proper port.

Anyhoo, being European, I don't give a rats arse about American Football anyways.

The PS3 CPU is better at floating point operations. That's good for some things (gene folding!), but not all that useful for game-related operations.

Just about everything else about the PS3 is worse. From a technical standpoint.

Maybe some people are a bit blind here, but I could definitely see the stuttering effects on the PS3 version the whole way through on the GameTrailers comparison video.

Differences in the GPU. ATI's GPU's have always looked darker with better color, even on PC's.

So I bought the game for my PS3 thinking I could get past all this stuff and it wouldn't be too big of an issue but I was way wrong!!! The stuttering was killing me. In between plays there's a small delay which if you start pressing buttons you'll just end up picking plays before you even get the chance to look at them. Then, during actual game play you still get delays. It's really hard to get a play going when you hike the ball and the damn thing freezes for a second or you throw a pass and it freezes for a second as well. Just throws your whole gaming experience off!!! It feels like trying to play a PC game with an inadequate card. I understand that EA is having a hard time developing for the system but this is the only game I've played on the PS3 that has done this! I really don't care who's at fault, I just don't think its acceptable for a company like EA to say it's hard to develop for this system. Either way, I'm out $60.

From the zoomed out gameplay view it looks the same as the last gen games. on both systems.

The ones that can't see the difference are just Sony fanboys who don't even play sports games period! Go back to your PS2 RPG's!

Well it sure is a good thing I dont play my games at 25% of the regular speed.

It really has nothing to do with Sony at all EA is just a horrible company and the more people continue to give them money the worse they become. They have deplorable business tactics, while slaving their workers and keeping the extra revenue, they make horrible buggy games, and they either stomp out or buy out any other companies that will do a better job and turn them into the same rotten thing.

Stop buying games from companies like EA they aren't trying to help the gaming industry, they are just going to Robber Baron the consumer for as long as they can, till gamers are fed up and there is a crash. You give them money and they in turn prevent other game makers from building better games buy using your cash to crush their ideas. Every time you buy an EA game you tell them what they are doing is fine by you and to continue and grow.

They are using Sony's current situation to get away with making a poor product, this is not the time to be a fanboy, it is a time to be appalled by the fact that a company thinks it can pass of a product like this to a paying consumer and not receive any blow back. Just look at the video, it is a 360 game he is playing, EA just doesn't care, time to take a stand and refuse this level of workmanship.

I haven't played either one yet (still enjoying NCAA 08 on my 360) but if I have to slow it down to 25% before I kinda notice then it doesn't seem to be a big issue. Yeah the 360 version may play slightly smoother and animations look slightly better, but it doesn't appear that anyone who gets the PS3 version will even notice they're missing anything. I'm not sure how anyone (I'm looking at you IGN) can claim that difference somehow affects gameplay that much.

Of course if you've got both systems then pick up the 360 version, but this is not the story people are trying to make it out to be. I'd bet an overwhelming majority of the 6 million or so people who will buy this game even know the framerates are different.

If they fixed the contrast/saturation settings on the PS3 side it would look a lot better than it does now. That gives a very misleading impression.

i think we should be more concerned with a game we all actually care about.it's madden, come on. and its EA, they arent willing to put enough effort into the ps3.

actually i own 360 and wii and plan to get a ps3. with that said i really do not care which is better. in a choice between the wii and 360 version i chose the wii version and wasnt disappointed b/c it was fun to learn the moves and they made mini games and other features that were actually good. as for graphics. i like good graphics but on this whole verses thing id have to say i guess i dont care b/c as similar they are, u might as well go pop a pimple on ur face b/c thats how detailed we are getting w/ the whole mess. betweent those two itd just have to get right down to good ol' preference. the wii graphics are not even close to those two, but heck i had a lot of fun playing it on the wii. i think gameplay is a lot better than graphics.

I rented the 360 version of madden08 and it plays really well. Sweet graphics and fun gameplay.

IT FARKING CRASHES ! sometimes I get through a full game, sometimes I don't. It froze/crashed 3! times yesterday forcing me to hard restart my xbox360 each time.

The disc looks like it's in perfect condition.
I haven't heard much complaining over this issue on the web yet, maybe the storm is coming?

I'm not going to buy it unless this issue is addressed or my 360 dies... whichever comes first.

I'm curious if these people are going to be comparing Dirt for ps3 with 360's dirt. And so on. This is more lazy programming. They didn't even tweak the ps3 gamma controls to be correct, just ported over the same stuff and didn't allow for the ps3's higher dynamic range, so everything comes out brighter.

It seems this comparison behaviour is typical for EA games, but EA games have some of the crappiest programming around and history has shown clearly they don't give a damn about framerate, so I'm not sure why we keep comparing EA games to EA games. Especially with that new guy over there.

The funniest part about all this is that the review sites make it sound like somehow the framerate of the PS3 *dropped*. That the 360 version is normal, the PS3 version is now an abomination of performance, when in fact all that happened was a framerate doubling for the 360.

I guarantee the reviewers can't even name five other games that are running 60fps.

well me as a ps3 fan, and owner, i would honestly think the ps3 madden would look better but sadly and disappointed, i do think the 360 is better. i did have the madden 07 on the 360 and man it was a nice killer lookin game. but the only reason i got it for my ps3 cuz i thought it would be better.(i was wrong) i even had the 360 and the ps3 madden in my hand deciding which one i should take. i did notice that the 360 was 1080i and the ps3 was 720p. i was like the wtf is that!! im really upset at sony for not making the game alot better then it could be. for example when i first played it, i was wow u know cool. but once the gameplay went, i notice when choosing of a play, i would have to move the antalog like twice cuz it wouldnt even react. it would fustrate me so bad(even when choosing a player...with the O button, it would react real late. i would try to choose a player before the snap, and it would pass to another player) . also another thing that got me sooo pissed off was when the play was done and the animation came, it would zoom out and look soo f*ckin blury!! and didnt even look so realistic!! i was like whats wrong with me, im i getting blind? why in the hell, blury!!whyy!!..well sad to say, im goin tomorrow to get credit for the ps3 madden for the 360...

You guys are retarded, someonebody washed out the color for the PS3 in this video, I asked my friend to bring his 360 over and we hooked both systems up, the PS3 isn't that fucking washed out, infact it looks better. Why not show a video with the same color for both, fucking morons who ever made this video is obvioisly a 360 fan.
