I foresee a lot of crappy games packed with even crappier music within the next 2 years.

MTV owns Neopets. I would say they have been doing pretty good in the game biz already.

Don't worry I'm sure the games will have as much to do with music as MTV does now.

Hopefully MTV can do for games what they did for music videos - beat them down into irrelevance.

I suspect most of that money is not cash but value of IP (mostly music, probably) that they will be contributing to hastily packaged up projects.

I don't know what happened to the question mark. It should say: What? The "M"....

If I remember my younger days correctly, MTV used to be "cool." Then the suits took over and started marketing "cool"...which was "cool" for a few years. Then people wised up and realized MTV is completely out of touch and sucks ass in every level---hence MTV's ratings are an embarrassing.

What does this $500 million mean for the games industry? Well...read the above. It'll be "cool" at first, then people will wise up and realize MTV needs to suck on Duke Nukem's boom stick.

Methinks that MTV's "games" are going to just be disc that you put into you're dvd player.

Is this 500mil on game dev or lifestyle/ubercool/journalism b.s.?
If Gamedrop is a sign of things to come from MTV, then don't expect much. Perhaps they will just buy 1up and EGM and call it a day. Ziff has been trying to unload for over a year now.

FYI: MTV Canada's broadcast license does not have a provision for playing music videos! They are classified as a lifestyle programming channel, not a music channel!
