We often wonder what we could be doing with our time if we weren't always playing and/or writing about video games. After watching this video by pianist Frank DAngelo, we bet he asked himself the same thing. The answer he came up with? Playing all of the music from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on piano and then recording the entire thing.
Yeah, we neglected to mention that this video is the first ... of 10. No, we can't begin to pretend to understand the rationale behind DAngelo's reported eight-month project. But we certainly give him points for effort.
Even if it is the worst in the series, which in my own opinion it isn't, being the weakest entry in one of the greatest game series of all time still makes it a lot better than the majority of other games.
That's absolutely true. In fact, I think MM would be an amazing game if it didn't have the Zelda name tacked onto it. It just doesn't have the "Zelda" feel.
fantastic game, fantastic soundtrack. i wish the video wasn't blocked here at work. i'd love to give it a listen. I'll have to check it out when I get home.
Man, I'm not the biggest MM fan, but every time I see that god damned mask, the main one, the Majora Mask, or whatever, holy crap, it freaks me the hell out. It just LOOKS scary.
oh comon only a retard would say that it was the worst game, admitidly it wasnt as good as Ocarina of time but it was still dam brilliant, and the whole time idea was superb! i would of thought it would be the same style.. but new class masks to change to goron and zora, deku etc, so clever and versitile.
Majora's Mask is awesome game, that is a new spin on zelda and yet still part of the series. People always complain 'its same thing dungeons" but majora's mask was more a sociological study as you can see reactions to people in different races and you had to prioritize your actions to get things done. For once if you failed the world will END, that pressure is welcome and makes it more than a videogame but more of an experience. This Sir I would call a work of art.
IF you want to talk crappy zelda by Nintendo than look at Wind Waker, with its extremely easy difficulty and boring sailing and forgettable storyline if it wasn't for the graphics that game would be forgotten.
God, if only this guy could play with some level of dynamics, I'd watch all of these videos. Majora's Mask is my all-time favourite game, but the way this guy belts out the delicate parts of the Song of Healing just makes me cringe.
ahhh... I need to get this game and play it again. This one and wind waker are probably my favorite zeldas. And yeah, I'd put majora right up on par with ocarina, even though ocarina was more revolutionary, there's just a lot more subtlty and complexity in MM to make it engaging. That and the soundtrack rocks out more :)
I absolutely loved the game, but I found it impossible to play w/out a guide b/c of having to go back in time for specific progression-critical objectives that I wouldn't have been able to figure out otherwise. I never did beat it though...but it's on the vc? maybe i'll get it on there and give it another go...
Zelda Majora's Mask is probably not the best ZELDA game but its so good and the soundtrack so wonderful that it doesn't matter if it aint the best... Saddest story... oh God the music... unbelivable... it blends in with the story so well... one of my favorites ever... Third to OoT and LttP... (i cant decide about Twilight Princess being 1st or 2nd therefore i didn't number it.)

Ah, Majora's Mask. Brings back memories. I remember not getting the PS2 on launch-day, and having to buy it as my Silver Medal.
Ah. Second place never felt so good.

Despite Majora's Mask being possibly the worst Zelda game ever made, the soundtrack is one of the best, so I commend this man for his efforts.
megaStryke @ Aug 16th 2007 9:57AM
And what were Zelda's Adventure, Wand of Gamelon, and Faces of Evil?
Shadow El @ Aug 16th 2007 10:02AM
Sorry, I meant made by Nintendo.

Mighty Shockwave @ Aug 16th 2007 12:44PM
No, the worst (of Nintendo's) is Adventure of Link I'm sorry, but Zelda+Sidescrolling=Lose.

I lack the self-motivation to even attempt anything like this. Hell, I'm proud of myself because I'm awake before noon today.
WiNG @ Aug 16th 2007 10:03AM
anyone who says "worst zelda game" and doesn't use the word "cd-i" is dillusional.

cynic79 @ Aug 16th 2007 10:20AM
Ah, Majora's Mask. I have such fond memories of your wonderful supporting cast and creative, if completely unintuitive, quests.
I may have to break out the Zelda Collection disc on the Gamecube or download this on the VC now.
Azak @ Aug 16th 2007 10:55AM

I have a painting of the Majora's Mask in my house. Yeah, I'm an obsessive nerd, but I think it owns.

I always love these VG youtube pianists, and I've always loved Majora's Mask. Looks like a winning combination to me.

There was a collection of Majora's Mask music that was orchestrated a while back. Anyone know anything about it?
