Why would anyone want to recycle their PS2?,I mean if i got a disc error I rather go to Sony support Center to get my Ps2 fix.

A good way to recycle would be by giving away an old PSP and get some sort of coupon or discount in the purchase of a PSP lite or trade your old PSP with 50$ to get a PSP Lite. Like the “Trade your Ds phat for a Ds lite” kind of deal.

Giving away something like a Ps2,at least Sony gives you something?.

To those who say recycling doesn't save the environment, consider economics of scale. If the size of our recycling operations approaches that of our garbage operation, the cost and environmental savings will be enormous.

Recycling: The more people who recycle, the better recycling will be.

True, the only problem is that there arent enough recycling centers.

You could also use a Giant incinerator like France.

Frankly though... why recycle, when you can encourage reuse by store tradeins?

Since my life is about half over I really don't care about garbage of the future. Also, good to see Sony finally deciding to setup a convient center to throw your Sony Garbage in like the PS3, PS2, PS1 and the PSP.

So true My wife and I have no desire to have kids since we pretty much enjoy our freedom and children to us seem like a burden. So as long as this spinning mud ball last through our lifetime I'm OK.

Erm... selfish to who? If they don't have children, then they have no children to be selfish of.

Now, selfish to other people's children, that's another different matter entirely.

I'd rather the couple decide to responsibly NOT have children... than to have one and either (A)be unable to support it (B)eventually divorce and leave the kid with split parents (C)raise another internet/society troll.

Getting back on subject, nice plan there, Sony. I enjoy supporting companies with project ideas and options like this. Sega (locally) had something similar at one point. Not sure if Nintendo or Microsoft has, but I welcome either. :]

What a great and environmentally-friendly way to get rid of all those unplayed PS3s! This is the best idea you've had yet, Sony!

If only Atari thought of this twenty years earlier, Nolan Bushnell would be an environmental hero.

"Hello there, we at Atari know that our game, E.T. sucked, but now you can recycle them. We have pioneered technology to turn your crappy games into quality tube socks. If this video game thing is just a fad, Atari Sock Company is ready to comfort the feet of the world in a revolutionary and innovative way."

I'd buy those tube socks.

But honestly, I'm glad I could do something with that broken PS2 I have.

In California we have a recycling center that accepts ANY electronic equipment for FREE, not just Sony.

As as Dell is concerned, they have one of the most comprehensive recycling and donation programs around, and was rated among the most 'green' during a recent survey. Their recycling efforts are global.

I'm always receiving calls from companies that will even come out and pickup up the equipment for you, so you don't even have to go to them to recycle.

Ooooor, you could trade it into Gamestop/EB Games as a broken system and get about 15 bucks for it. Not only is that recycling, but you're also getting paid to do it!

Back here in the good ol' Europe (EU to be specific), recycling old electronics has actually been mandatory for companies for a couple of years. You can drop broken or unused devices off to any electronics store, and the company manufacturing the item is responsible for paying for recycling. It's one of the reasons why everything costs a bit more here than it does in the US, but one can't still see it as a bad thing. I hope we'll hear more about initiatives like this back there too.
