I went to USC (South Carolina) for college. Our mascot is the Gamecock. Big picture of a red rooster with spurs. Peta thought it was worth their time to send nastygrams to the president of the school first demanding we change our mascot (from gamecock to something else) and after we didn't cave, demaded we remove the spurs from the emblem, since they said it "Encouraged cockfighting".

Nevermind that the Gamecock was a war hero during the American Revolution (think Swamp Fox), and also nevermind that its A FREAKIN SCHOOL MASCOT! Thats like saying the Alabama Crimson Tide mascot encourages ivory trade (Its an elephant after all).

Couldn't their money be better served combating animal cruelty internationally, instead of the largely imagined animal cruelty in America. I mean, its already illegal to torture animals, and to fight them for sport.

Peta won't be happy until animals are elevated to a legal status higher than that of your children.

Morons, all of them.

The fact is PETA is not an organization for animal lovers. We all remember the pamphlets we'd get (usually when we're starting college or in some other way obviously young and hopefully impressionable) to join PETA. The pamphlets asking for donations never mentions how it's against YOU for having your pet Fido, or how it's against the blind having guide dogs, or that they kill more animals than they "save". They take animals away from those who actually love and care for them, then say: "We're not in the business of finding homes for these animals". So of course if they won't take them to shelters (evil according to them) or find homes for them, they just kill em. Is it really about the animals?

Going on topic why does the chicken get bigger when it touches a box with a smiley face. I think it's using the same drugs(growth hormones) KFC uses. HYPOCRITE

Wanting animals to suffer less is fine and all, but when you start forcing your views on other people you're going too far. It's up to everyone to decide for themselves whether to eat meat or not, and spreading false propaganda is wrong, even if it's for a good cause. I'll eat all the meat I want, get your nose out f my life. When I see activists protesting something and pushing their beliefs, that just makes me want to do the opposite to prove a point.

My problem with PETA is how anti-human it is (not to mention hypocritical for different reasons than those stated by others). They purposefully misquote many environmentalists who are not vegans or vegetarians. They neglect to inform about mass farming using chemicals and pesticides. And before any one says there is clean farming, there is also clean ranching. If a vegan and a meat eater were dropped in the middle of no where who would survive? This is the basic premise of is it right to eat meat or not. Man would not exist without eating other creatures. Plus look at the human anatomy. Our eyes are closer together at the front of our face, this allows us to single out prey. We also have incisors and canines to tear flesh. Man, while not being made to be a carnivore, certainly cannot live a natural life eating vegetables only.

I'm not a supporter of PETA or anything but I find it odd that PETA gets people so riled up. I agree that just seeing or hearing the word vegetarians gets alot of people worked up. I know a lot of vegetarians, and pot heads. Most of them could care less about my eating habits. I'm starting to think most people equate vegetarianism with being judged.

thats because theres alot of vegetarians that think there better than others because they dont eat meat, i know plenty of vegetarians that arent like that

but none of them make the evening news...

I think people are riled up w/ PETA because it claims to represent vegetarians/animal lovers when it very clearly does not. I personally get riled up because they fool impressionable kids into thinking that they are "fighting" for animal rights and that their donations are going towards "saving" animals. Don't ask me for donations with a picture of a tortured monkey and then turn around and use my donation for banning guide dogs for the blind. They use people's apathy for their hypocritical agenda.

No one, including the numbskull writer of this Joystiq article, mentioned the obvious - that Nintendo gave PETA permission to make the game a Mario clone. Don't forget that PETA had a Wii giveaway earlier in the year.

Many people (Nintendo, for one) support PETA in what is ultimately an important cause - to increase social awareness of corporate wrongdoings. Without people like PETA, we would be largely unaware of what goes on inside the factories that prepare our food. I suggest watching "Supersize Me" or reading "Fast Food Nation" if you want more information provided in a 'consumer-friendly' format.

WOW! I have never played a better web based Flash game. It ain't New Super Mario Bross but it's pretty good.

On the other end it really did make me think about what happens behind closed door of chicken farm. :(

After watching the videos on their site I really don't think I will taste chicken or any other meat again. I can't believe I lived in such small box not knowing the real truth! I want to barf now!!!!

I thought the game was funny. I have to say that the response from most of the people here was pretty ignorant though. There's a lot of people wearing tin foil hats thinking that PETA is coming for them.

Huh. Did anyone else find it a wee bit ironic that the main character for a game designed to stop people from eating at KFC is a chicken named "Nugget"?
