wow... all of you in the HD-DVD camp (and to some extent Blu-ray camp) forget one thing...

despite Paramount and Dreamsworks supposed drop of Blu-Ray... Steven Spielberg (you know who that is, right?) has his own arrangement, he is NOT limited to either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/tags/show/Steven_Spielberg

more specifically this...

Levy further clarified the Paramount/DreamWorks press release, saying that "...his movies, like 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'War of the Worlds,' are not included in that deal. They are not exclusive to HD DVD, nor [are they] planned for that format at this time.'"

to be fair, only one of his movies has been released on "Hi-Def" so far, that movie being 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind.'

I don't understand why anyone would support a disc that holds less and scratches just like a DVD. Shouldn't we support the format that is beneficial to us in more than ONE area! What about computer data storage, game storage,ect.. We shouldn't just be thinking about movie storage, We all know that if it was just about movies then why not go hd DVD, because both formats do this just as well as the other, however; this is not the case.
I have quit the collection of blu ray and my kids haven't scratched any of them, the coating really does work on these discs. They should put this coating on ALL optical discs.
I like both formats, but blu ray makes more sense, holds more data, doesn't scratch as easy(lasts longer). This is just my opinion of course. But it is based on experiencing both discs. Like i said , I only like blu ray more because it gives us more(storage , scratch resistance) that is it , just makes sense!
