if this is true about the core, the core is now the best deal. $299.99 for a core vs $399.99 for a premium and now the core comes with a wireless controller, hdmi and a memory card with games. Then you can just buy a 20gb hdd drive for like $50 at eb games for your core and now you have a premiuum which cost like $50 less then an actual premium + a free memory card + arcade games

The only problem with this is that you can probably only fit those 5 games on that memory card. Any more and you have to delete them or get a new card.

Hopefully the re branding coincides with the falcon release.

Genius rebranding for the casual gamers!

This would also explain the lack of core consoles anymore!

As said, the wireless controller and the memory card make this console hella complete for all the casual gamers, and I think this'll have a DEFINITE pickup amongst the people that are thinking of the Wii. Now just drop the price so that it matches or beats the price of the Wii in all territories.

Well this all sounds pretty believeable but just take that picture with a pinch of salt if that was the source.

I mean...thats quite distinctly fake.

In fact its so fake i had to reread the article to make sure you didn't say something like "This is a mock up we just threw together in paint" before i made this comment.

Just an observation

That's a horrible photoshop job.. Unless that picture is just a mock up of what the box might look up, it's a terrible fake.

That's 279 Euros not Pounds...so yeah that roughly translates to 189 pounds (or more likely the new 179 pound core price)...also this 279 euros equates to 376 dollars...so where did you all get 299 dollars from?

Microsoft needs to work toward a single SKU, not more. Don't ever look at this as positive, because it isn't. Multiple SKUs is -always- bad for a company like this. I don't see why they can't see that. The average consumer is really, really, really, really, really, really, really dumb. Offer them choices, and it's like "INTERNAL ERROR, BRAIN AM NOT WORK!"

Elite: Black Finish
Pro: Silver Finish
Arcade: Standard Finish

Looks like the Pro is going to get a makeover?

I think they just mean the silver disc tray finish that it already has now, in comparison the the core's creamy-white.

Shouldn't that be 279 Euros, not 279 GBP? That would make this new core cost as much as the premium currently does in the U.K. :P

why dont the kill it all together. i dont get it are people actually praising the new core because it has a memory card and the price on producing the wireless controllers went down. just leave the Pre and elites 256mb thats a joke PSPs today have more memory than that. I do hope the new cips and heat sink role in soon because the game im waiting for aint Halo3 its Mass effect and gears of war 2(hey people waited 2 years after release for H3 whats another 2 years for probably the greatest and best graphics ever seen on the 360 hopefully and tons of more content, more than 6hours and i dont care if they put it on 2 discs. By that time i hope to have a more reliable systems or should i say the system that should of been.

I have always been hoping that MS would release an arcade/marketplace machine somewhere at the $100-$150 price point. Just an appliance for playing arcade titles and watching downloaded movies/television shows. Include the 20GB hard drive, wireless controller and wi-fi, but exclude the DVD and USB controller ports. Also, probably could exclude some processing power.

I'd love to have such an arcade appliance for when my wife is watching TV and I want to play some Band of Bugs or Alien Hominid. (Or, MS could just release all the games for Vista, which I think they may be doing, right?)

Revans, if it was talking about the disc tray, it'd say silver for Elite... the Elite disc tray isn't black.
