Classic items return in Super Mario Galaxy

Joining the already colorful collection of new equipment found in Super Mario Galaxy come the ol' stand-by's the Fire Flower and the Super Star. Now, our Urban Champion league friends over at Wii Fanboy considered this news to be the most spoiling of spoilers, but really, it's about as shocking as finding out that in Galaxy, you collect coins. Hachi machi! Do you think if you collect a certain amount of them, you'll get an extra life?

The Fire Flower went missing during the 3-D installments of the series, but was brought back into the fold with last year's New Super Mario Bros. The same can also be said about the super star power-up, though Metal Mario filled the void at times in Super Mario 64.

I like the fire flower. I will love the fire flower if you have to do a throw motion with the remote or nunchuck to throw a fireball.

These might not be spoilers, but I'd still consider them welcomed surprises. The fire flower and super star were two of the most glaring omissions from SM64 and Sunshine, and I've been waiting to see them make the venture into Mario's 3D iterations (outside of Kart, at least).

Wow! I can't wait to use the Fire Flower in 3D!

mario sunshine for the gamecube is littered with them.. just finished playing it today on my wii, now I'm all caught up to play galaxy.

The Super Star is back. Invincible mario.. woohooo!!! And costumes too! Bee and Boo... and hopefully even more!

Its going to be like Super Mario Bros 3 in 3D, in different Galaxy's, without the Koopa kids!

True... but in New Super Mario Bros- it was Baby Bowser- every mini castle.. and there were bosses in the main castles...

Bowser killed them in a drunken rage after their defeat in Super Mario World. Afterwards, rethinking his actions, he had a new son and named him Bowser Jr.

You could never directly aim Fire Flowers like a shooter before what makes you think they'll change that?

Last I heard the Koopalings were put into an orphanage that burned down. Then they ran away from their destroyed orphanage to the traveling circus just as the village got torched. There they learned psychic powers from an under appreciated 'naut of the psycho persuasion. With their trained powers they come to save the world from the evil menaces of poor plumbing.

PWN! i have been missing actual powerups for so long.

The biggest phail in any Mario game is not including "The Mario" in DDR with Mario.

Which isn't really a phail at all, as it's a dream that would've never been realized anyways.

The Koopa Kids were in Superstar Saga, if that counts.

sounds great to me. With the spherical levels i guess the fireballs will just bounce and go around the planet.
It really seems like this game will be awesome.

Yeah, maybe they will come back around the planet and hit you if you aren't careful. That's be funny!
