Nintendo polling public on Wii game demo demand
15
Over at Go Nintendo, a reader sent in the above image, which is a hurdle that those wishing to enter the latest Nintendo Power sweepstakes need to tackle. It throws up flags in all areas, as it causes us to believe Nintendo is honestly considering providing us with some sort of demo download service. We don't like the idea of having to pay for the ability to do this, but we'll smile for the time being just at the thought that Nintendo is doing something in regards to the online situation.

I stopped getting nintendo power when it started sucking cause of the design change and crappy coverage of games. I would re-subscribe to it if this was to happen even it if it cost a little extra more

the main problem with ninty power is that the layout is awful, and i feel they never have any exclusive information.

Nintendo Power writers should become editors for a channel providing their information and articles. The print magazine goes third-party farmed out and is merely a husk for game demos. Or both could be channels I'd be willing to pay for.

Well, of course Nintendo Power readers are going to want it in a magazine! But that'd be rubbish.
People need to be able to try before they buy so games aren't just an exercise in marketing and bribing reviewers, they need them to be free, and they need to give as much attention to third-party games as their own.

Question:
Why the hell aren't they using the Everybody Votes channel for something like this? Sure the two-choice system isn't as in-depth, but i bet you would reach more people, and with a global poll they could really plumb the support region-by-reason at virtually no cost

Because the EVC is lame.
"Would you like free game demos"
Yes, No (Guess which one will win!)
I wouldn't mind paying for demos, as long as its something like 100 Wii points, which are usually leftover points...
Then again, XBL offers FREE game demos for both First AND third party games, and demos for XBLA games, so why should we pay, for a system we *know* is not up to par with XBL?

providing the odd demo for free to nintendo power subscribers might be a good incentive to get people back into the magazine. i am a subscriber and agree that there is never any exclusive information, i have usually read everything online in the few weeks before i get my copy in the mail. i do enjoy it for additional comments, opinions on the new stuff though.

#9 said Nintendo is cheap. They need a bigger hard drive for demos. They'll make us pay for demo discs. They're greedy.
