If you're like us, then you've been cruising the Wii aisles at Best Buy and Target, hoping you might be there at the magical moment when a shipment comes in and snag a Wii fresh off the truck. However, all that usually comes in are a fresh batch of Friends DVDs, or possibly more copies of XXX.

Well, now you can win a Wii without having to register your credit card somewhere, buy a raffle ticket, or sell a kidney. Wii is pronounced like we,so when you say wii-ner it sounds like weener not like winner,wiener or wenner but Weener a town in the district of Leer, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the border with the Netherlands, on the river Ems, approx. 10 km southwest of Leer, and 25 km southeast of Emden.

South of Weener, there is the 380kV-Ems-Overhead Powerline Crossing.

I am still stumped about this whole "shortage" you keep referring to... I regularly pass by a pile of 'em at my local Best Buy.

In the UK there is an abundance of Wii's, my local store has plenty and online stores seem to have no sense of shortage.

I know, my walmart has had wiis in for over a month now. Pretty much anytime of the day, you can go down and see about 10-15 just sitting there.

You know, since Nintendo is releasing Metroid Prime 3 next week, there are bound to be some systems on store shelves in anticipation for this game. I do know for a fact that Kmart will have some systems next week (I saw their ad for next week and they were listed in limited quantities).

Just thought I would give the people who don't have a Wii yet something to focus on.

I know the Shop-ko's in Wisconsin have had them for extended periods of time due to their tag system and not having the actual units on display.

I'm sure I could go to the nearest Wal-Mart to me and buy one right now. Seems like this whole "shortage" is blown out of proportion a little bit. I'd imagine those of you that can't find them aren't really looking hard enough.

I've been to three Targes, two Best Buys, and even one Wal-Mart near LA over the past few months, and they had squat. Maybe it's just Hell-A.

i was searching for a wii 2 weeks ago and they were nowere to be found. finally i went to eb games early one day and got one.

very hard to find for me.

Wii's are virtually non-existant in my local department stores (i've yet to see one in Kmart, Wal-mart, or Best Buy), but there's always a stack of 3 or so at GameStop, every time i've been there since last Christmas

This shortage is so stupid. Nintendo is just trying to create artificial demand

I saw about eight Nintendo Wii's at Best Buy last Friday night. I couldn't believe my eyes. They were preparing for the MA No Tax holiday thing.

I checked eBay to see what people were making. Not much, $50 above sticker? That's just not worth the hassle. Though I could have kept them for Christmas.

Target is stocking up systems for the August 26th ad

I would enter but I bet by now some kid made a 10 word essay about why Red steel and chicken shooting are the best games ever.

Funny that people can write a 10 word essay in less than an hour but it takes them 10 days to do a school related essay.

Target has been hoarding wii shipments in anticipation of sunday's ad (8/26-9/1).
If you really want one, goto your local target sunday morning at 8am.

About the shortage
- yes there is a shortage. Evidence of it depends on your location. While some may be able to walk into a store for a Wii any time, others have not been able to get them in-store at all. I have yet to see one in the midwest and I've been to several states and browse an electronics store at least twice a week. I camped out for one at launch; my friend had to do the same in MARCH.

- it's not an intentional shortage since Nintendo is operating at capacity and is outselling competitors by 2 to 6 times each month.

- adding a new manufacturing facility would cost too much in the long run, plus Nintendo depends upon others for crucial parts.

About smashing things
- what's the point? Did the Wii rape your mother or something? God knows it's not a heartfelt display of anti-consumerism because you worship another box.

- you are about 9 months too late to make Internet-history with a Wii-smashing.

I've still NEVER seen one in the wild...

BTW I own one, yeah my friend found it and just happened to have some extra cash, don't ask, he picked one up for me and brought it while I was at work. SCORE!

Actually I just went to a Walmart on Friday (to get a controller so I could play Super Metroid :D) and both stores I went to had no Wiis (or Wiimotes...)

Might be a good way to pay for all the games i've got to buy over the next few months (a healthy portion of which are for the Wii itself)

Those games in that picture are seriously shitty. Rayman was the only one that was even relatively fun and after about 30 minutes, I felt ripped off.
