Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare deploys worldwide Nov. 5

Activision has officially announced that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be launching a worldwide attack aimed at wallets and societal productivity on November 5th. Waving goodbye to the digital dregs of World War II, developer Infinity Ward has moved its first-person shooting into more topical climes. Yes, topical. You'll be wanting that guy in the special suit if you fancy tropical environments.

No, not that guy in the special suit. The other guy, you know? Actually, that's a woman. The other other guy then. No! There's no crowbars or time traveling. It's not him either! For god's sake, we meant Crysis! How many first-person shooters featuring characters in cybersuits could there possibly be this holiday?

(Note: Call of Duty 4 does not feature cybersuits of any kind. Probably.)

hm i wonder will this be more fun than team fortress? i want a multiplayer game to.. 'invest' a lot of time in, and i'm hesitant about warhawk.

Yea no doubt. What strikes me as unusual is that most of the fps aren't set in WWII.

I've been playing the beta all morning and the multiplayer is great. The available classes and weapons are good and well balanced. Graphics are very good and explosion particle effects from grenades are pretty sweet. The RPGish XP and leveling up system is very addicting also. Ive only played team deathmatch but so far I have not been in a game where there was much stradegy or communication being used, which is kinda a bummer.

You need to sign-up at the charlieoscardelta forum and check the first wave beta thread for instructions on how to get in, which involves sending an email with specific answers. They then email you a token code you enter in the marketplace where it says Redeem Code which gives you access to downloading the COD4 beta.
