Thompson mentally fit according to Dr. Wunderman
Following the Florida Bar's option of seeking psychological testing or face a 91-day suspension, GamePolitics has the details of Jack Thompson seeing a psychologist on his own dime who said he is allegedly free of mental health issues. The analysis was done by a Dr. Wunderman and Thompson filed the psych. report yesterday to go with a pair of lawsuits he has against the Florida Bar.According to Thompson's psychologist Dr. Wunderman, "Mr. Thompson appears to be a thoughtful, prosocial and erudite man whose life is anchored, fortified and enriched by his Evangelical Christianity. I find no evidence that his faith distorts, clouds or impairs his personal or professional judgment." Wunderman during his analysis focused on if Thompson suffers from mental illness, if he's obsessed with porn and obscenity and if he's obsessed with stopping the sale of violent games to minors. "Obsessed" being a clinical term here and not what we'd all clearly say is obsession. Thompson also says he will try to cut down on his use of hyperbole and sarcasm in his motions and says he knows he may have offended with his writings. It'll be interesting to see if the Florida Bar asks for Thompson to see their own psychologist.

Then Dr. Wunderman needs to see a shrink as well. As I stated in past post, Thompson is not GETTING ANY. He is on something that is not good!!!
bender @ Aug 22nd 2007 9:43AM
Whether he's mentally ill or not he is still an f-ing prick.
Stu @ Aug 22nd 2007 9:47AM
I don't think it's an issue of psychological imbalance but a necessity to protect the minds of others from what he sees is inappropriate.
An older gentleman I worked with 2 years ago was a security guard and the young team of rag tag Resident Advisors (back in college) used all the colors of the language and he demanded an apology if he so much heard you say a swear in the general vicinity, not even at him.
He was in no way insane he just hated that sort of language and didn't want anyone to use it.
The issue is about pressing your beliefs on others not sanity or the lack there of.
mo @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:19AM
yes well put, which begs the question, whats more rude, the action of people swearing in there own private conversation, or some one you don't know listening in on your conversation and coming to correct it according to his liking

Ha ha.. well played!

So, he's not insane; he's just ridiculously unprofessional.
Prof_Chaos @ Aug 22nd 2007 9:54AM
His faith does nothing but distort, cloud and impair his personal or professional judgment, especially in regards to porn, obscenity and violent videogames.
Prof_Chaos @ Aug 22nd 2007 9:55AM
Sorry that read his take on his faith. I do not wish to impugn anyone else's faith or belief system.

He strikes more more as a fundamentalist than an evangelical.
Kizzle @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:01AM
He's not mentally ill, he knows exactly what he is doing. Being a loudmouthed dipshit doesn't mean your crazy, it just means you're an asshole.
Think of him as the ultimate message board troll...most people have taken his bait several times.
Jerk Face @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:26AM
So he's like a court room troll? Ha ha...
Kye @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:01AM
He's mentally well?
That's even worse!
This means he doesn't even have an excuse, he's just being a asshole on purpose.
That's the worse kind of asshole!

If he practices Christianity, then it certainly ain't _Biblical_ Christianity.
mo @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:07AM
There is nothing wrong with him mentally, he is just obnoxious, smug, self centered and an alarmist
and for some one " compassionate" enough to " fight societies evils", he sure has no problem taking advantage of any shooting or killings to prove his points, regardless of the information available
his lack of respect for human life is appalling, and his unprofessionalism should be cause enough to have his license revoked

ATTENTION MEDIA!
Stop giving this Jack Thompson airtime and webspace by putting articles up about him and his charades. He's like a common housefly, if you ignore it, he'll find some open window and bug off!

Putting down others beliefs, the origin of every war ever fought
Sihylm @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:43AM

Err well actually Sihylm... Nah I don't want to get blasted witnessing again.
Crono @ Aug 22nd 2007 2:43PM
"Yes, because the first and second world war were totally about religion."
Not religion, but philosophy. In either case, it was caused by someone putting down the other guys beliefs.
Jake @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:33AM
There are plenty of morons like Jack out there. He just happens to have gotten more attention than most. He's not special or exceptional, though.
His lack of courtesy towards criminal investigations, propensity towards lying to advance his agenda, and total disrespect for the recently deceased make him a terrible lawyer and a worse person.
He is not a good Christian and clearly doesn't even know what that means.
Prof_Chaos @ Aug 22nd 2007 1:51PM
You're right, he's not special. What JT did to get himself this attention was find a topic that was inflammatory without being crowded with litigators and push it into the spotlight. He did this by calling attention to a link, regardless how small, between any violent act and videogames. After enough of that he got himself considered an expert, which gets him on TV. They have to get someone since they have a 24hr broadcast day to fill and he makes an entertaining interview.
He's NOT crazy, he's NOT special, he's certainly NOT an expert. He's an irresponsible and ambulance-chasing litigator.
Jake @ Aug 22nd 2007 3:42PM
Eggzachary. He lies on TV to get people to believe his propaganda. He twists the truth surrounding tragic deaths to turn victims of horrendous violence into fake martyrs for some BS agenda.
He is a total asshole.
megaStryke @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:36AM
I don't think anyone here needs to be told that Jackie is bonkers, but JUST in case you want a mountain of proof:

mo @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:40AM
okay everyone i have a plan
_I_ think it would be good for jack to play violent videogames so im going to pass a law to make it illegal to fail to sell jack an M rated game if he is with-in 500 yards, and a fine of 1000 dollars to sell a less than M rated game to him
after all i know whats best for jack
your sanity @ Aug 22nd 2007 10:59AM
Jack, the medieval times called. They want thier religious extremity back.

i wonder if "Dr.Wunderman" is any relation to "Dr.Spaceman" from 30 Rock..
poprocker @ Aug 22nd 2007 11:26AM
Evangelical Christianity?!?! This explains it all.
sgtfubar @ Aug 22nd 2007 11:28AM
Thompson doesn't need a psychiatrist.
I'll be happy to provide my own scholarly theory without using big words and long winded scientist jargon:
He's just an obsessive dick with a foil hat.
There are plenty of people like this who are fit to do their jobs. Only problem is, it just makes it less pleasant for everyone else to have to deal with it. Last time I checked, it's not against the law to be an asshole; You just won't make any friends that way.
There you go. No charge for my services.

Wow..... Can we say "Conflict of Interest"????
Of course Jack's own Dr. will say that. You pay me enough, hell, I'll say whatever the hell you want me to.
His Doctor just turned himself into a complete quack, in one short paragraph.

ok so he's not mentally disturbed or ill
.. so that means he's just an idiot
Dale @ Aug 22nd 2007 11:55AM
Sadly, I agree with Dr Wunderman's analysis. He is not insane.
You have to be fairly on the ball to realise that you can make a shit ton of money by ambulance chasing and exploiting popular misunderstanding of an industry that generates billions of dollars every year. Even smarter to single out the company behind GTA, a game that is immensely popular (read: financially viable) and violent enough for some of the tosh aimed at it to stick.
As with George Bush, I believe his Bible thumping is just a way to endear himself to a particular segment of the public and add the illusion of a moral basis to his crusading.
Ryan @ Aug 22nd 2007 12:03PM
