I don't think it's an issue of psychological imbalance but a necessity to protect the minds of others from what he sees is inappropriate.

An older gentleman I worked with 2 years ago was a security guard and the young team of rag tag Resident Advisors (back in college) used all the colors of the language and he demanded an apology if he so much heard you say a swear in the general vicinity, not even at him.

He was in no way insane he just hated that sort of language and didn't want anyone to use it.

The issue is about pressing your beliefs on others not sanity or the lack there of.

yes well put, which begs the question, whats more rude, the action of people swearing in there own private conversation, or some one you don't know listening in on your conversation and coming to correct it according to his liking

Think of him as the ultimate message board troll...most people have taken his bait several times.

and for some one " compassionate" enough to " fight societies evils", he sure has no problem taking advantage of any shooting or killings to prove his points, regardless of the information available

his lack of respect for human life is appalling, and his unprofessionalism should be cause enough to have his license revoked

Not religion, but philosophy. In either case, it was caused by someone putting down the other guys beliefs.

There are plenty of morons like Jack out there. He just happens to have gotten more attention than most. He's not special or exceptional, though.

His lack of courtesy towards criminal investigations, propensity towards lying to advance his agenda, and total disrespect for the recently deceased make him a terrible lawyer and a worse person.

He is not a good Christian and clearly doesn't even know what that means.

You're right, he's not special. What JT did to get himself this attention was find a topic that was inflammatory without being crowded with litigators and push it into the spotlight. He did this by calling attention to a link, regardless how small, between any violent act and videogames. After enough of that he got himself considered an expert, which gets him on TV. They have to get someone since they have a 24hr broadcast day to fill and he makes an entertaining interview.

He's NOT crazy, he's NOT special, he's certainly NOT an expert. He's an irresponsible and ambulance-chasing litigator.

after all i know whats best for jack

Thompson doesn't need a psychiatrist.

I'll be happy to provide my own scholarly theory without using big words and long winded scientist jargon:

He's just an obsessive dick with a foil hat.

There are plenty of people like this who are fit to do their jobs. Only problem is, it just makes it less pleasant for everyone else to have to deal with it. Last time I checked, it's not against the law to be an asshole; You just won't make any friends that way.

There you go. No charge for my services.

"According to Thompson's psychologist Dr. Wunderman, "Mr. Thompson appears to be a thoughtful, prosocial and erudite man whose life is anchored, fortified and enriched by his Evangelical Christianity. I find no evidence that his faith distorts, clouds or impairs his personal or professional judgment."

Wow..... Can we say "Conflict of Interest"????

Of course Jack's own Dr. will say that. You pay me enough, hell, I'll say whatever the hell you want me to.

His Doctor just turned himself into a complete quack, in one short paragraph.

Sadly, I agree with Dr Wunderman's analysis. He is not insane.

You have to be fairly on the ball to realise that you can make a shit ton of money by ambulance chasing and exploiting popular misunderstanding of an industry that generates billions of dollars every year. Even smarter to single out the company behind GTA, a game that is immensely popular (read: financially viable) and violent enough for some of the tosh aimed at it to stick.

As with George Bush, I believe his Bible thumping is just a way to endear himself to a particular segment of the public and add the illusion of a moral basis to his crusading.
