Both of which will have definitely happened in the next 4 years.

I could see it happening, and for the gaming community's sake, I hope it does.

Not disagreeing by any means, and not that more gamers is ever a bad thing, but I really hope our high-effort games ala. Mass Effect and Bioshock don't ever get passed over for another mini-game collection.

I don't much care for casual games and assume most of us here don't. But I welcome and embrace this wave of accessible gaming as it can only help the industry.

My only concern is that initially we may get less "hardcore" games as developers shift teams towards that type of software. However, I think the market will balance itself in the sense that there will be more programmers, dev houses, and games in general for both the casual and hardcore markets. And eventually, many of those casuals will purchase less accessible games as their skill and thirst for challenge increases.

Just good news in general for gaming. I think all four platforms and various handhelds will prosper in the coming years.

I'm sure it will happen. And I'm really happy with that. More gamers = more games = more fun. Yay.

Yeah, maybe. But I still want to see developers (you too Ubisoft!!!) get off their asses and put more effort into Wii games. Then again, it has barely been a year and the first titles generally tend to suck a little...

I agree with Guillemot to a certain extent. There's a very broad market out there, but they're not being serviced.

I'm not talking about your grandparents nor your kids, to be considered as "casual gamers" with many people of the female population.

I'm talking about developing countries who already love games but who are forced to pay a shitload more for them because they don't belong to any official worldwide gaming market and who are forced to import. They are whether stuck to playing free online games or pirating them, which sucks balls. At least you don't need to convince them that gaming is fun.
