E For All not for Sony, others
IDG Entertainment is running into a little trouble crafting "a follow-up to the now-defunct E3 Expo." Firing Squad is reporting that Sony Computer Entertainment will not be attending the upcoming E For All Expo.Along with the major console maker, publishers NCSoft, Sega and Capcom will also be missing the October show, according to FiringSquad. The show won't be a total bust, though: Nintendo and EA will be there, along with THQ, Konami, Namco, Intel and NVIDIA.
These losses are a pretty major blow as the new show tries to become a must-attend event. Any show that's going to replace E3 is going to have to quickly build up to a critical mass of publisher attention to draw in the press and consumer interest that makes an expo work.

All of these companies besides Nintendo (at least the Japanese ones) are going to be at the Tokyo Game Show, right?
Personally I think TGS is way more promising that E for All by a long shot.

why isn't it A for all?

I think the 'E' still stands for one of what it originally meant, the all make sense.
Electronics for All
Entertainment for All
or
Expo for All
...I don't know, I think that's what it is.

actually i'm guessing it's E for Everyone but to avoid the copyright or just to be cute, they say "All" instead of everyone
still, logic dictates it should be A for All

Doesn't the real follow-up to E3 start tomorrow? I'm thinking PAX 2007 will make some waves.

Regardless...I'd still go (might see some Brawl there from Nintendo...hopefully?)... but registration for the show sucks...

Quite simply the worst time to place a US gaming expo, with GC this week, TGS early Sept., this gives no time for developers / publishers / etc. to transport and setup after GC to E for All and then leave to TGS. There is barely time in between GC & TGS. This show does have one benefit, Nintendo showing up when they shun TGS.

I really do not know why Sony is not going, they need all the good press they can get. And since this event suppose to be for gamers, if they go I think it will help them in their PR.
