I second that.

After watching this, all I thought was "...what?"

Not "That was cool" or "That sucked," just "...what?"

They're all chicks, even the one screaming about rage (link below). You know, the only time I don't regret buying the PS3 is when new MGS4 footage arrives. I have a feeling this game will be worth every penny.

Rage! Muahaha! Rage!

Looks pretty cool, although its technical wow-factor has been lost in the years following the first footage. Now that we've seen what the 360 can already do, and some of what the PS3 will be able to do, this kinda left me a little cold.

Kudos to the cinematography though. Very immersive.

Snake looks tired... this franchise looks tired. I'm glad it's the last one. These games used to excite me. This one, not so much.

As unpopular as your opinion is, I'm gonna have to agree. I was anticipating thought provoking storyline and characters, but it looks to be just as kitsch as ever.

Contrived characters and control gimmicks were a real hoot when the first MGS cam out, but there really are better alternatives nowadays.

I'm just happy that PS3 owners will finally have a killer app on their hands.

Too long for just FMV. It was very well done, as I'd expect from MGS, but I'd trade that all for some gameplay snippets.

It is becoming clear why this game will use so much space, though. That clip alone would be a gig in 1080p. Okay, I pulled that out of my ass, but still. That was a bigass cutscene.

It is amazing how much they are hyping this game, despite the fact that it is still 6 months minimum away.

I don't think that was pre-rendered. If it was it would have looked better (especially Meryl's hair) (I think that was Meryl..). I think it was, like most MGS cutscenes, rendered in-game.

Those boss-like characters need to go to Spec-Savers. How could they not spot Snake (cowering) behind that burn-out car? Possibly the worst example of stealth in a videogame, ever.

ah, but they did spotted him. that marionette chick (wich faintly reminds me of psycho mantis)looks at him at some point and salutes him at the end.

yeah. "why not kill him and be done with it?"...well, it's metal gear!

I guess we're not Japanese, since they love their FMV segments. I prefer the in-game interactive stuff like in Bioshock or Gears. As nice as this looks, is it just about killing a few guys and advancing to a checkpoint so you can see more of the movie? Is that even a game?

Don't call it FMV. It's not FMV if it's in engine rendered!

I think Konami is trying to over do it. by the time the game is released, it will be more like a Halo/Gears of War type of game with all kinds of ugly out of space vilains. and that`s really not where this game should be heading.

it's supposed to be a freaking stealth game for god's sake. I don't mind fighting some advanced machines here and there, but boss fights are never about stealth, it's more about button mashing.

seems this will be another promising game gone to waste.

You seem to forget that boss fights in the MGS series have always been this way. A vampire that runs on water? A man controlling a suit of bees? This really isn't much more of a stretch.

The MGS series doesn't use FMV or CG. Lots of cutscenes, sure. But it's all in-engine and doesn't take up all that much space.

I loved the first Metal Gear Solid on PS2 and played it to death as there was nothing like it out there. Now with the advancement of other FPS these games just don't get me anymore. Ever since Half Life I've been into the games that, you know, actually let you play all the time. This game is like a movie and will be boring. Half of its gameplay time will just be sitting watching 4 minute long FMV's and bad love bantering over Snakes comms link.

Give me Bioshock any day of the week over this.

Know what I feel after watching that? RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Maybe something is lost in translation here, but after watching that, I was rubbing my eyes and hoping that it wasn't real. I think Kojima thinks he's some sort of grandiose story teller, when in reality he's a video game designer/producer/whatever. He's been lead to believe that his stories are good (really, his stories are usually about trying to mind rape you senselessly ala Evangelion) and that just isn't the case. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I was hoping for ACTUAL bosses and not a continuation of the fat guy on rollerskates that chucks bombs at you, or as someone else said, the vampire that walks on water. Oh and shut off your PS2, disconnect the controller, and then turn it back on to defeat me (I'm actually boss number 3)

I don't like how snake just stands there, hidding like a bitch. this game's pace is way too slow to include huge boss fights that will require you to pause the action to change weapons, or inject yourself in the neck with crack-cocaine. Snake needs to die after this ,and Hideo needs to move on.

But a good looking one at that.

The sad part is that the 15 mins of "gameplay" was boring as hell.

Is it just me or does MGS4 become more unappealing with each trailer? And this is coming from a guy who actually enjoyed MGS 1, 2, and especially 3(that one actually made sense). I mean I used to be excited for these games,(even when I didn't have a ps2, used to be a nintendo fanboy), but now the story seems so convoluted that it really is uninteresting to me, and it seems that I'm not the only one who thinks that. I don't know if Kojima was trying to hard, or maybe he smoked too much of his secret snake flavored cocain, but it seems that he's finally alienated gamers to the point where only hardcore MGS fans will enjoy his final game. Maybe Kojima being done with the MGS franchise is a good thing, cause when Konami makes a new Metal Gear game(and they will) maybe they can get someone that can actually make the universe make sense. Yeah I know I'm gonna get flamed for saying this, but seriously the game has become so uninteresting.

I don't know, maybe when I get my actual hands on it I'll have a different opinion on the game, but as of now I just don't find it interesting and it doesn't make me envious of ps3 owners. You can have your crazy ass Kojima and insane plots, I don't need them.

I'll agree with you....MGS1 was definitely the best in the series....and the 1st half of 2.

To be honest...I still have to finish up MGS3....I keep passing out during the long movie scenes. They seriously kill me.

I'm seriously hoping that MGS4 really is the end....and Kojima can focus on either A) a new property or B) PSYCHONAUTS!!!!!

Damn, I don't know what to say. On one hand we've got the final MGS game, and on the other some of the crappiest antagonists to grace a video game. This is still going to be the game I buy a PS3 for, but damn, it's going to be a hard pill to swallow.

I like how the theme of this one is how war is something everyone can do without. I'm really liking the Beauty/Beast thing to, how they were once beautiful women. It's mixing it's own kind of mythology with an industrial fueled war.

The concept is cool, but for some reason I feel less excited than a year ago.

4:40 to 4:41 while the mechanical dog is attacking the tank, the sound effect is used. An exact replica. :)

Amazing how people don't know what trailers are. "It's like a movie, no gameplay." What was the last trailer you saw that you were playing? Were people expecting some buttons on the bottom of the screen where we could make Snake fight the Femme Fatales in the trailer? We're supposed to watch trailers, not play them.

And yeah, I liked it. Very cool.
