Me neither, I was just curious.

Not to derail the thread too much further, here are the AAA titles from the above example:

Beyond Good and Evil and ICO (Great games, bad sales)

I own a PS3, and I'll concede that the system needs some work in the games department. I'll say this though, '08 is looking to be a good year for the system. Not to turn this into a 360 vs. PS3 thread, but the 360 needed about a year to hit its software stride as well.

I don't really have any brand loyalty, I want it all. It's just a question of being able to afford it. This only things I have left for this gen are the DS and 360.

In the end though we all win because the devs will keep dropping great software (most of them anyway).

Not sure why everyone is so concerned about MGS4 going to the 360. Yes, the demo shown looked cool. But lets not forget that it is Metal Gear and it can be lame, kind of like MGS2 when you start using Raiden. Anyone remember that? You can bet on something weird like that happening again.

And also, it is only the 360 owners asking for more games that PS3 has. You never hear PS3 owners asking for Mass Effect, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Splinter Cell 5. All of which will be amazing games. 360 owners have to stop asking for more, and just be happy with what they have, or what is coming. I am a 360 owner, so don't think of me as a PS3 fanboy.

I know this is crazy to bring up, but could it be that the constant vague response to the 360 version is because he's Japanese? I'm not going to say it is THE reason for it, but I know that part of Japanese culture, even in business, is having a problem with saying NO to anything. It stems from avoiding conflict, another very Japanese trait.

Again, not saying this is the definitive reason for not having a definitive answer, and I'm sure that from a purely Western standpoint it sounds ridiculous. I'm just throwing out that observation from what I've experienced myself, as well as read many, many times.

I wasn't pissing about anything. That honour was yours. I was stating my reasons for not really wanting a ps3 outside pof MGS4...which is a lack of games that i want.

And the only reason I did that was because it illustrated my reasons for wanting to know once and for all whether MGS4 will require a 600 dollar purchase for me.

Gran Turismo 5
Final Fantasy XIII
Metal Gear Solid 4

Are no joke man. These are among the best selling franchises on any platform in the history of videogames. I wouldn't be suprised if each of them sells a million PS3s.

Anyway, the PS3 "no games" meme dies beginning this September. The PS3 line-up starting this fall and going into 2008 is strong with simultaneous releases with the 360 and exclusive original IP.

Warhawk
Lair
Oblivion Game of the Year Edition
Heavenly Sword
Stranglehold
Skate
Ratchet and Clank
Folklore
Half Life 2: Episode Two
Clive Barker’s Jericho
Guitar Hero 3
Rockband
Army of Two
Haze
Assasin's Creed
CoD 4: MW
Uncharterd
UT 3
Mercenaries 2
Burnout 5
Devil May Cry 4
GTA4
LittleBigPlanet
God of War 3
Team ICO PS3 title

And with games like Shadow of the Colossus, Eye of Judgement, Echochrome and LittleBigPlanet I can say that SCEI is atleast trying to make new innovative IP but that is not something I can say about Microsoft Games.

Furthermore it really annoys me how gamers keep moving the goal posts for Sony when comparing it to the 360.
The 360 came out in Nov 2005 and didn't have its first decent AAA exclusive till Dead Rising came out 8 months later. We are seeing the same thing happen with the Wii and PS3, which has also been true with previous console gens. Console launches and we don't see stellar games till about a year afterward.

The biggest negative for the PS3 is what it has always been - the $600 pricetag. Nobody wants to pay that much for a game console, Sony needs to pricedrop the PS3 to $400 to make it competitive. And fix PSN so it has standardized integrated in-game chat functioning, faster download speeds, and more content updates with content updated (is it really that hard to do something like this: http://www.davestrailerpage.co.uk/ this: http://www.fileplanet.com/174/90001/section/demos or this: www.apple.com/itunes )

Dead Rising is awesome crazy fun, but it's no AAA title. The first title I think we can all agree fit that description is Gears, which basically came out one year after the 360 launched. Given that timeline, the ps3 should have an exclusive AAA title or two within it's first year.
Problem is, it's competing with the 360 on the 360's timeline, and as much as we'd like to separate the two out and say the ps3 is doing as well as the 360 compared to where it WAS, we have to compare it to where it IS. And right now, that's behind, and with the Madden08 issues, as well as new AAA titles like BioShock and Halo3, it's going to have to work a lot harder to catch up.

Uhm, guys. Sales have little to do about whether a game is "triple-eh" or not. Elsewise licensed games are teh r0x0rz!

Uhm, no. Phsyconaughts, Beyond Good and Evil, these are AAA games, regardless of sales.

Sales may indicate a game might be good, but it serves nothing as proof.
