@ 20: interesting! I didn't know that. I will have to try out my wife's profile to see if she can access the downloaded games (I am on my 4th 360 at the moment, last one took a month round trip, but I'm in Massachusetts). I _thought_ she could, but will have to test it out. One person mentioned that I could just re-download the games (for free), so I might try that first. Wife doens't play that often, so not really a big deal, but still ...

For the record Microsoft has implemented some sort of new system for downloadable content. SOME people receive a new or refurbished console, delete their content and redownload it and have access to it online/offline and all other gamertags have access to it.

HOWEVER this does not work for everyone. I for one tried this for days and days and it never worked. I tried every tip on the net to make it work, but I always only had access while I was connected to live. I had to call MS to get points refunded to a new gamertag. This was about 10 days ago.

My console got RRoD last week. I got a new one at Best Buy (thank you, awesome protection plan!) and I cannot play the XBLA games that my wife purchased. Deleting them and re-downloading them makes no difference whatsoever. I'm going to be calling MS for a points refund, definitely.

my box just died.
I'm waiting for a box. What's pretty interesting was the wait time for talking to an agent. It took 5 minutes to talk with someone, and both reps that I talked to, spoke perfect english. I'm thinking Canada gets different tech support.

"Rich Mitch, I have to commend you on your beautiful yard. That's all."

The secret to a beautiful lawn ... is mowing :)

Seriously though, it doesn't look *that* great in real life, but thanks.

Yeah, why would you have to re-download your XBLA games? it's not like you send them your HDD with it.

I just took my RROD Cancer 360 into the UPS store to ship it off to the repair center, and upon entering the store the clerk asked me if thats an xbox. I asked him how did he know and he said he can tell from the white box and he gets in a couple a week (Alpharetta, GA).

When I took mine to the UPS store, the lady working there asked me if I removed my hard drive, and this was before she even seen the label or I had said anything. Needless to say, she recognized the box right away from the other 360s they have received.

Jeramy - sorry, but I'm not completely mistaken. I'm with Hak Foo - I've tried everything I've read everywhere, and no matter what I do, NONE of my content is accessible when I am not connected to Live.

My xbox has been sitting in Texas for 8 days. I was kind of hopping to have it back already. I have since given up hope of seeing it before labor day weekend.

Just FYI, Micro$oft isn't giving points refunds to anyone any more, regardless of the system breakage being the reason you can no longer access your games or DLC. Completely and totally sucks, given that they know what system your accounts are associated with, and when you guy a game on disc you can play it with anyone you want on any system you want. Thanks for screwing me out of about $60 worth of content, M$!

Post #62 - You said on Augst 24th yours had been sitting in Texas for 8 days at that point in time. How much longer did you have to wait, or are you still waiting still?

For anyone interested, I just decded to check online to see the status of my Xbox again... today will be Day 12 of it sitting in Texas but suddenly noticed it's coming up with an brand new serial number.

Unfortunatly, unless I'm mistaken, this means a refurbished one is on the way instead of a new one, right? Or would a new one also come with a new serial number?

Any way to tell the age of the console in advance, the kind of DVD drive it has (old & loud or new and quiet) from the serial number?

Looks like the end of my own Red Ring Chronical is near.

To recap my own story for anyone looking for the current timeline of things.

Day 1 - August 13 (Monday) - Red Ring of Death in the morning. Set up repair online in a few short minutes and told Coffin would be shipped out by the end of the day.

Day 5 - August 17th (Friday) - Coffin Arrives, Xbox returned to UPS Store for the trip to Texas

Day 10 - August 22nd (Wednesday) Coffin Arrives at Texas repair facility, Confirmed by UPS but not by Service.Xbox.Com

Day 14 - August 26th (Sunday) - Service.Xbox.Com confirms arrival and start of repairs on Xbox.

Day 21 - September 2nd (Sunday) - Service.Xbox.Com listing updated to show new serial number for my Xbox. 1-800-4MY-XBOX reports repairs are complete.

Day 23 - September 4th (Tuesday) - Call to 1-800-4MY-XBOX (asking for "Customer Support" gets live American to answer within 2 minutes in all tries as opposed to sitting on hold for an hour for any other reqest) confirms Xbox repair and they give UPS Tracking #s, which confirm box in UPS hands by that evening.

**Estimated Delivery Date from UPS**
Day 26 - September 7th (Friday)

Just shy of 4 weeks turn-around time at this point, assuming UPS meetings their delivery date.
