As I've done a bit of programming I know the golden rule:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Removing stuff takes time and risks breaking the code in some way and taking even more time. It's a lot simper, safer and faster just to bypass the redundant code and features. Normally this isn't a problem (Sonic 2 is riddled with missing levels and music and it's fun to find), but when you get the infamous "Hot Coffee" insedent, you should take you time to delete something.

Being limited to 5 reinstalls is BS. PC gaming is dying, and copy protection is the box it'll be buried in.

One only has to look at Galactic Civilizations 2 to see the effect of night vision on a game with no copy protection in this modern day.

Remember how Starforce posted a link to a pirated copy of GC2 in StarDock's forums? Copy protection and the companies that sell that snake oil will do anything to grind this industry to dust and make a buck while they're at it.

If I've learned one thing about this whole "exclusive" business is that the only way to know for sure that your game will remain exclusive to a console is if it is first-party. Otherwise, time can always change things.

I mean, if people keeping wondering whether the 360 will get MGS4 and FFXIII, people will keep wondering whether the PS3 will get games like BioShock.

I'm guessing if you uninstall this game you can then resell it to someone and they could still use it?

what if you dont have the internet on your computer, you cant play bioshock for the pc?

Also what about people like me who format every month? I dont "uninstall" my games before formatting, I just format. Does this mean after 5 months bioshock wont work anymore?

Man. No wonder people pirate games. I dont get it. If I pay for a game, I should be rewarded with some sort of bonus, not DRM which is not found when you pirate a game. I dont understand why companies still use dRM. Its hurts no1 but the consumers. It doesent stop or even slow down piracy. Like DRM in music. Why should a paid version of a $1 song come with DRM when the free version of that song (piracy) comes with no DRM. Makes no sense at all to buy anything digital nowadays.

That's why iTunes and other digital music sellers are pushing the major labels to ditch DRM. PC game publishers should follow suit--every copy protection scheme ever conceived has been hacked to pieces. People who want to pirate, will. People who just buy the damn game, meanwhile, pay the price. It's always been that way, but I guess business types are immune to common sense.

Perhaps you should spend a little less money on your Nvidia Quad SLI Super 10000mb video card, and a little more on utility bills.

This is great news...

Thanks Joystiq.

And the best part of this? The fact that sony fanboys were so willing to jump on this obviously fake rumor yet they blast 360 fanboys for thinking that MGS4 is coming to the 360. Especially given all the "Non confirmations" that Konami has given.

Begun these consoles have.

The double standard is amazing with ps3 fanboys. Swear up and down that they wont lose a exclusive like MGS4 but find ps3 in a ini. file and its magically coming too ps3. But not all ps3 owners are like that though and those are the ones i hoped would experience bioshock.

The nVidia card way outperforms the ATI card according to Tom's Hardware's charts.

What driver issues are you concerned about? If it's Vista, I think nVidia has improved the most. I hear ATI's drivers are still having the most problems on that OS. I don't know about any issues with Bioshock specifically.

If he's under contract not to speak of a PS3 version then of course he won't say anything. It's also possible that the team themselves wouldn't be working on it. But it'd be naive to think 2k would pass up releasing the game on another platform. Unless of course they now view the PS3 as wasted development, which in that case I'd be worried.

Still I'm happy with the PC version.

Nah, I've got too many games I enjoy on that system to trade it in. Especially Resistance. I would give up Gears before I would give up Resistance. (And I know some of you wonder why I would possibly say that so I'll tell you)

- First, RFOM is a much longer game than Gears was. And even though it was a long game, it only got more fun the farther into I was.
- More interesting weapons that you could use in very clever ways that really changed the way I saw weapons in an FPS. And I've been playing FPSs since Wolf3d.
- Several missions in the game had jaw dropping and just plain fun battles in what can best be described as walking alien tanks, as well as other more standard vehicular fare.
- Graphics that really showcase what the PS3 is capable of in the later levels (it's really a shame that none of the review images or videos showed these later levels off, either.)
- A solid and intriguing story that a Halo fan could appreciate (no, not as in depth as the books, but more in depth that the games were - and yes, I'm complimenting Halo, so don't get all hot and bothered by that.)

Sure, the graphics weren't up to the same par as Gears was in post processing effects (notable the leatherization techniques used in Gears was spectacular.)

All in all, it was a game that ended up being more fun than Gears was for me, especially after multiple playthroughs. But don't take that to mean that I think Gears was a sub par game. Far from it. I loved Gears and I still own and play it. I just feel RFOM was a better overall game that didn't get the credit it deserved from gamers because it came out on an unpopular console. It's a shame, really.

As a 360 owner I will buy a PS3 if Sony says something like "fellow gamers we apologize for overhyping our product, in reality the xbox 360 is capable of running our exclusive games without a hitch. We do have Blue Ray and wonderful exclusives that all gamers should enjoy. Our games will never be overwhelmingly better looking than anything on the 360 but our exclusives will keep you coming to our console day after day, sorry for overhypinng the cell, we were scared we might lose market share so we lied to hopefully fire up the fan boys, that is all."

If they humbled themselves like that I would consider buying a 360.

You're Right.. The game is awesome.. It's too bad PS3 owners can't enjoy games such as this.. -I mean I'm sure the PS3 power can pull off the graphics and smooth frame rate this FPS/RPG has.. It just looks and plays so well!!

Question.. Was it scary to any of ya'll like it was to me?? The dark areas were driving me crazy!! Every time I stepped into a dark area, my stomach hurt like a PS3 owner every time he/she hears bad news like: not getting this game, or "MGS4 Will Be Coming to the 360." -pain like that!

For those of you contemplating which version of the game to get....my recommendation is DO NOT BUY THE PC VERSION. I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition (sweet figurine BTW), received it on Wednesday, and still have yet to get more than an hour or so into the game due to the myriad of issues I've had.

I have 2 modern PCs (Vista Ultimate, Geforce 8800) and can't get the game to work reliably on either of them. First the sound wouldn't work, until tech support told me to run the game in DirectX 9, with XP SP2 compatiblity mode turned on. Ok, so there goes any benefit I might have received from my fancy DirectX 10 cards. However, even in DX 9 mode, the game constantly locks up, forgets my settings, etc. At this point its practically unplayable.

I so wish that I had purchased the 360 version instead :(

Sorry you MS fanboys feel so protective of your easy bake ovens, face it the system is wonky at best the new chipset will fix that but its months off leaving people 2 choices wait a month for replacement or buy new,and OMG some people might actually own 2 360s not to mention out of warranty 360s(the earliest models have started to fall out of warranty i think) and finally some people have gone threw 2-6 consoles since launch, its not that surprising that they would say "all my" since grammar is near dead on the web.

Oh and the PS3 is a over priced whore who cant pay people enough to sleep with him.

LOL

And yes some people have gone threw 3 or 6 consoles hell half my friends have been threw one or 2 one even 4 so its not that rare why else has MS maxed out tis warranty system, because its systems are broken, probably more to do with crappy china manufacturing that MSs design but in any case they let millions of the units out and have to do something to fix it.

Anyway the WII owns the market with its cookign games, the PS3 just looks pretty as a paper wight :P

Oh well if the PS3 hits 400 by Xmas the console war will be more interesting than the games for 08/09 LOL
