We're not Homeland Security experts, but we're pretty sure that swinging an unusual wand connected via a cord to another device in an airport is a bad idea. And we're positive that pretending to fire this contraption would ... well, let's just say you'd miss your flight. That said, the game looks good enough that we're wondering if we'd be able to resist. Click the read link for a higher quality version.

I'm sorry but the video quality is pretty bad. In fact it makes the so called excellent graphics of this game looks horrible on my computer. And usually the vids you post look okay if not great.
But its nice to see more advertising for the game. Perhaps IGN will quit b*tching about Nintendo now.

Oh yeah I forgot about YouTube....right... It's just written all over the freaking video!! and no, videos on this site do NOT usually look great or even good. They don't on any site...unless they're the kind of video that has to be downloaded instead of displayed in your browser and even then they still usually don't look that great. There are exceptions but not many.

He's right. Laugh all you want. I'd wager that a percentage of those "casual" female gamers (the ones who keep making their numbers known in the Everybody Votes Channel) just might take the plunge into their first "hardcore" title.
Only gamers already familiar with Metroid already know that Samus is a woman. And as far as we've come, there are still very few "universally recognized" female protagonists in games outside of Ms. Croft (and, to a much lesser extent, Ms. Dark).

Ah, I played Wii Sports at one of those Wii Kiosks they had at Stanstead airport last March. Did i get arrested for for waving a (virtual) baseball bat around? Hell no.
Breaking down the door to the cockpit and beating up those 5 secret service agents tho? Man, that was a whole OTHER thing....

I'm just thankful this commercial doesn't feature some douchebag diving from behind his couch to shoot and rolling into a ball on the floor. Gah that was stupid.

what are you talking about? the guy in the video playing it wasn't a 40 year old.
first people complain about the lack of hardcore titles, and now that they're all coming out, people like you still bitch about it??

What are you like 14 or something? Nobody playing the game in that video even came close to looking 40.
I guess you think I'm old and can't possibly enjoy playing FPS games because I'm almost 30?

You can change it if you want (A and B)
This commercial is stupid. Looks like this is Nintendo's future of ads. I guess it makes sense to sell to an older crowd, I mean we are all older, but I just don't get the point of going to an airport to show off this game. I don't find it offensive like the Joystiq people do, it's just nonsensical.
And the whole look and feel, with the camera tilting down to show the Wii, gave me a sense of nostalgia because it FELT just like the old SNES commercials, which were marketed towards children.
Regardless, I CAN'T WAIT FOR METROID!!!

Get your whole family to play this FPS. Tear off enemy heads with cannon blasts, and use your morphball form to destroy enemy civilians!

i love wii and metroid prime, but nintendo is so fake.. those ppl in the video (especially that chick with the dumb look on her face) would not be able to stand an hour of this game, it's much too hardcore for them (unless the game has been dumbed down from the first two games, yikes..)

You've got a future in sales.
"How do we cast this commercial for a car? I know - let's put in a bunch of twenty something white guys, and have everyone else of every other possible background standing on the sidewalk completely disinterested because this car's too much for them.
But they're all in swimwear, and hot."
That, my friend, is gold.

Does it occur to anyone else that a large part of the reason that "casual" gamers never play "hardcore" games is because most of the "hardcore" gamers are so insecure they make playing anything beyond Mario Party seem like it's too much for the feeble mind of a commoner?

I like the "Wii we would like to play..." commercials and all but I was hoping we'd get a badass stylized commercial. Anyone remember the Prime 2 one? The one with that girl walking in an alley getting Samus armor?

While part of me agrees with you, the other part realizes that "Wii would like to play" commercials are noticed (read: paid attention to) by a much wider audience of wii and prospective wii owners. This marketing targets a wider demographic and could allow for more sales.

I like FPSs. I am LOVING Bioshock right now. I may have to get a Wii to play this. I never liked the Metroid games (NES and SNES versions); sidescrollers aren't my thing.
Even though it was a poor quality video, the game looked like LOTS OF FUN!!!! I liked the electric lasso type thing where you can pull your enemy towards you. "Get over here!" Scorpion style!!!
