New Metroid Prime 3: Corruption ad seems dangerous
We're not Homeland Security experts, but we're pretty sure that swinging an unusual wand connected via a cord to another device in an airport is a bad idea. And we're positive that pretending to fire this contraption would ... well, let's just say you'd miss your flight. That said, the game looks good enough that we're wondering if we'd be able to resist. Click the read link for a higher quality version.

I'm sorry but the video quality is pretty bad. In fact it makes the so called excellent graphics of this game looks horrible on my computer. And usually the vids you post look okay if not great.
But its nice to see more advertising for the game. Perhaps IGN will quit b*tching about Nintendo now.
Neebs @ Aug 24th 2007 9:39AM
Not Joystiq's fault YouTube runs in extremely low resolution.
vidGuy @ Aug 24th 2007 9:41AM
Yeah the video sucks. Oh well, this game looks great. Can't wait for Tuesday.
dukeatreides4ever @ Aug 24th 2007 9:43AM
Oh yeah....I forgot about YouTube...thanks for clearing that up.
Matters @ Aug 24th 2007 2:11PM
Oh yeah I forgot about YouTube....right... It's just written all over the freaking video!! and no, videos on this site do NOT usually look great or even good. They don't on any site...unless they're the kind of video that has to be downloaded instead of displayed in your browser and even then they still usually don't look that great. There are exceptions but not many.
Neebs @ Aug 24th 2007 9:38AM
If Samus took her helmet off in the commercial, it would push 250k more sales.
Platy @ Aug 24th 2007 10:28AM
and then the next metroid would feature beach volleyball ... and metroid is TOTALY not about this .. even the metroid pinball makes more sense (and didn't featured samus without her suit)
Crono @ Aug 24th 2007 12:10PM
Smash Brothers beach volleyball.
What a horribly awesome idea.
Lemmiwinks @ Aug 24th 2007 3:08PM
He's right. Laugh all you want. I'd wager that a percentage of those "casual" female gamers (the ones who keep making their numbers known in the Everybody Votes Channel) just might take the plunge into their first "hardcore" title.
Only gamers already familiar with Metroid already know that Samus is a woman. And as far as we've come, there are still very few "universally recognized" female protagonists in games outside of Ms. Croft (and, to a much lesser extent, Ms. Dark).
Justice @ Aug 24th 2007 9:41AM
I wanna Wii. Game looks sick.
Alex Miles @ Aug 24th 2007 9:45AM
Ah, I played Wii Sports at one of those Wii Kiosks they had at Stanstead airport last March. Did i get arrested for for waving a (virtual) baseball bat around? Hell no.
Breaking down the door to the cockpit and beating up those 5 secret service agents tho? Man, that was a whole OTHER thing....
Ants @ Aug 24th 2007 10:02PM
lmao mad random!
Antonio @ Aug 24th 2007 9:50AM
I'm just thankful this commercial doesn't feature some douchebag diving from behind his couch to shoot and rolling into a ball on the floor. Gah that was stupid.
T3H WICKERMAN @ Aug 24th 2007 9:52AM
Wow 40 year old casual gamers sure love to play first person shooters on the wii !
Alex K. @ Aug 24th 2007 11:43AM
what are you talking about? the guy in the video playing it wasn't a 40 year old.
first people complain about the lack of hardcore titles, and now that they're all coming out, people like you still bitch about it??
eelb @ Aug 24th 2007 2:14PM
actually, "casual gamers" do tend to enjoy first person shooters.
Matters @ Aug 24th 2007 2:15PM
What are you like 14 or something? Nobody playing the game in that video even came close to looking 40.
I guess you think I'm old and can't possibly enjoy playing FPS games because I'm almost 30?
t_m @ Aug 25th 2007 12:00PM
I'm 31 and i've been playing games for years.. nd the Wii is the only console that appeals to me this generation.
But i just got given a free PS2.. and I'm using it to play old PS1 games.. so..er.. SONY ROCKS! ..er.. I can't remember what kind of fanboy i;m supposed to be..
360 Halo looks kinda cute though... *hearts*
Martin @ Aug 24th 2007 9:54AM
Where's the goddamn read link?
AlanRickman @ Aug 24th 2007 10:43AM
The author is too busy insulting readers.
BNinjaC @ Aug 24th 2007 9:56AM
Having seen the first hour of this game, I still have my doubts but it looks good.
/hopes
oh and the music in that advert made my brain ache
kip @ Aug 24th 2007 10:14AM
Wait, you shoot with the A button and not the trigger button?? That doesn't seem to make sense..
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 24th 2007 10:21AM
You can change them.
Blu-Sam @ Aug 24th 2007 10:15AM
The better video seen on Nintend's site.

bender @ Aug 24th 2007 10:26AM
That looks awesome, thanks.
Jonny @ Aug 24th 2007 10:22AM
Man, I love those "Wii would like to play" guys. Where can I pick me up a couple of them?
Zo? @ Aug 24th 2007 10:23AM
You're an idiot, Justin.
Jacob P. @ Aug 24th 2007 10:30AM
Blasphemy!
Justin McElroy @ Aug 24th 2007 10:40AM
(Hey guys, check this out!)
Actually, sir, I believe it is YOU who is the idiot!
(Burn.)
samfish @ Aug 24th 2007 10:28AM
Eew. That little boy was checking them out at the end.
Mr Intel @ Aug 24th 2007 10:44AM
yea i noticed that too..... weired
WiNG @ Aug 24th 2007 10:34AM
Get your whole family to play this FPS. Tear off enemy heads with cannon blasts, and use your morphball form to destroy enemy civilians!
Terrence Newton @ Aug 24th 2007 10:35AM
i love wii and metroid prime, but nintendo is so fake.. those ppl in the video (especially that chick with the dumb look on her face) would not be able to stand an hour of this game, it's much too hardcore for them (unless the game has been dumbed down from the first two games, yikes..)
hegemonyhog @ Aug 24th 2007 10:45AM
You've got a future in sales.
"How do we cast this commercial for a car? I know - let's put in a bunch of twenty something white guys, and have everyone else of every other possible background standing on the sidewalk completely disinterested because this car's too much for them.
But they're all in swimwear, and hot."
That, my friend, is gold.
spunkyMP4 @ Aug 24th 2007 10:37AM
Where the danger in that commercial? It's just people playin MP3 in a fake airport.
REUYL @ Aug 24th 2007 11:25AM
in a fake AMERICAN airport
fanguad @ Aug 24th 2007 10:41AM
The music from this vid is also from Yoshida Brothers (used in some other Nintendo ads). I'm too lazy to look up the exact song right now.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Aug 25th 2007 3:53AM
Kodo (Into the Sun remix)
hegemonyhog @ Aug 24th 2007 10:47AM
Does it occur to anyone else that a large part of the reason that "casual" gamers never play "hardcore" games is because most of the "hardcore" gamers are so insecure they make playing anything beyond Mario Party seem like it's too much for the feeble mind of a commoner?
Shagittarius @ Aug 24th 2007 1:32PM
Thats cause it usually is.
hegemonyhog @ Aug 24th 2007 1:43PM
You roll a D20 to determine whether or not you laugh at people, don't you?
Fatass of Kickassness @ Aug 25th 2007 3:55AM
With Shaggi its more like a D1.
Terrence Newton @ Aug 24th 2007 10:53AM
go play RE4: wii edition
Jack @ Aug 24th 2007 11:06AM
I like the "Wii we would like to play..." commercials and all but I was hoping we'd get a badass stylized commercial. Anyone remember the Prime 2 one? The one with that girl walking in an alley getting Samus armor?
Crono @ Aug 24th 2007 12:13PM
While part of me agrees with you, the other part realizes that "Wii would like to play" commercials are noticed (read: paid attention to) by a much wider audience of wii and prospective wii owners. This marketing targets a wider demographic and could allow for more sales.
Mighty Shockwave @ Aug 24th 2007 11:37AM
The dude at 42 seconds left looks like the main character from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Mal F4cti0n @ Aug 24th 2007 11:44AM
I like FPSs. I am LOVING Bioshock right now. I may have to get a Wii to play this. I never liked the Metroid games (NES and SNES versions); sidescrollers aren't my thing.
Even though it was a poor quality video, the game looked like LOTS OF FUN!!!! I liked the electric lasso type thing where you can pull your enemy towards you. "Get over here!" Scorpion style!!!
Crono @ Aug 24th 2007 12:11PM
LOL. Voted +
Crono @ Aug 24th 2007 12:14PM

This really shouldn't be that hard to fix, guys.
Michael K. @ Aug 24th 2007 12:25PM
what a dumb article, the commercial was fine, it showed gameplay and how some of the motion controls work just like all of their commercials
