Today's most death-defying video: the PSP Unbricking
We told you yesterday about a magical battery that can actually bring a bricked PSP back from the dead. "Surely you jest," you replied, "that is a power wielded by God and maybe Ken Kutaragi." Well, friends, we now have video proof of such necromancy. After the break, take a look at the Pandora battery in action. Should you not want to watch the entire three-minute Lazarus Process, you can skip ahead to the 2:50 mark and finish from there.

WHat's the name of that song?
Abuzar @ Aug 24th 2007 3:14PM
I think it sounded something like the songs form the Indian movie Don.
dramamoose @ Aug 24th 2007 12:31AM
Here's what I don't understand: why can't the PSP do this on default? Why wouldn't Sony integrate the power of resurrection into the final product?
I think this is an example of one of those times where the fear of homebrew has actually made a device less useful.
mastershake @ Aug 24th 2007 1:27AM
because sony never planned on giving you software that could potentially brick your psp so there was no need for it
DWells55 @ Aug 24th 2007 6:01AM
PSPs can be bricked due to errors in the normal updating process.
micklol @ Aug 24th 2007 3:51PM
ya if you are stupid enough to disconnect the power or take out memory stick while updating.
fps_noob @ Aug 24th 2007 12:40AM
Where do they sell this, and how much can I get it for?
Chimuel @ Aug 24th 2007 1:25AM
It's free... just download it. But you do need a spare PSP battery and at least a 256mb memory stick.
Penguin Warlord @ Aug 24th 2007 2:35AM
Do it yourself or look on craigslist. In toronto there about 8000 posts in the last day offering psp unbricking services.
qbix @ Aug 24th 2007 12:46AM
I hate it when people use digital zoom in video, but I love the fact that PSP hackers are keeping up with Sony.
DWells55 @ Aug 24th 2007 1:10AM
The PSP hacking community is absolutely amazing. This has to be one of the most impressive feats in console hacking history.
Seanross @ Aug 24th 2007 1:54AM
That last section at the screen with all the different languages telling you to press O is where my PSP is stuck at.. every time you press O it just keeps rebooting right back to that screen. anyone know how to fix that?
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 24th 2007 2:18AM
Everyone buy all the bricked PSP's. Then sell them higher when their value comes back.
n_revolution9 @ Aug 24th 2007 2:23AM
DONE AND DONE!!!
hellscaper @ Aug 24th 2007 2:26AM
@Seanross: Yeah, get a spare battery and a 256mb MS Pro Duo, grab the Pandora Battery files and bring your screwed up PSP back to a normal state!
Dash @ Aug 24th 2007 3:38AM
I Just did it my self. Now I have two working PSPs, one with 3.40 LE and another with 3.52 M33. Awesome.
steve @ Aug 24th 2007 1:48PM
hay, which custom firmware do you prefer? Since homebrew is less of a risk now, I'm thinking of taking the plunge.
Gavin @ Aug 24th 2007 4:29AM
This should have been called Lazarus instead of Pandora.
DUH!!!!
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 24th 2007 4:31AM
Lazarus implies resurrecting. Pandora implies open the mystical box and throwing it open forever.
Poisoned Al @ Aug 24th 2007 5:08AM
IT'S ALIVE!!!
Buying a bricked PSP and fixing it isn't a bad idea actually.
Captain Jody Anthony XVIII @ Aug 24th 2007 8:27AM
why the flying hell do people put terrible music in all of their youtube videos? whats wrong with speaking and explaining what is going on? putting shit-ass music on your video makes me hate you.
sheppy @ Aug 24th 2007 1:10PM
Give the guy some credit. He spent all of 3 whole minutes in Fruity Loops putting that together...
fps_noob @ Aug 24th 2007 8:51AM
I'm just wondering why another battery is needed. How does it change anything from using the one I have right now. Also, what will happen if I run this on my non bricked 3.50 PSP, will it bring it back to 1.5?
hoagie @ Aug 24th 2007 9:44AM
Bah, everyone's buying up the 'as is' and 'bricked' PSPs on E-Bay already... they're not cheap! :(
Sir_Mal @ Aug 24th 2007 7:09PM
We were not meant to PLAY GOD! OR PSP!
Vancaeyzeele @ Aug 24th 2007 12:41PM
I tought Sony considered the ability to brick a PSP a feature?
thispaceforsale @ Aug 24th 2007 11:58AM
Keep in mind this not only allows unbricking, it allows returning any psp back to 1.5
So if if you have a 3.51+ you can get homebrew, or if you are stuck at 3.13. Or if you don't have gta or lumines.
And there is a very good chance this will also work for the pspslim when it comes out.
The reason you need a seperate battery is it is unclear at this point if the battery can be restoredd to its original state.
