Wow that was extremely harsh. I think you need to relax a bit sheesh. The guy wasn't familiar with a podcast and a you ripped his head off.

Garnett maybe not but a Shane podcast would be awesome. That guy knows a ton about video games and is hilarious.

He's way to proud of his extensive knowledge about video games, and he gets lets himself get carried away explaining details of a 15 year old game that nobody played but him. I can't take too much of Garnet either. He usually has his drunken slur going already at the beginning of the podcast, and most of what he has to say isn't very interesting.

But when you put them both together it's even worse. They both have stubborn personalities, so they can get stuck in ego battles arguing over some inane topic until I skip to the next segment. You need someone else with a strong enough personality to tell them both to shut up and move on.

I agree Shane often goes off into little snits about who knows more about games.

But here's the thing:

He knows a TON about games. The show wouldn't be the same without Shane because he's played so many games, and he works hard as a journalist to find out more.

It'd be great if he could find a way to improve his on-air personality, but even if he doesn't, dropping him from the show would be a negative.

I wonder if he's paid for it or if he's just doing things out of the goodness of his own heart.

Even if he isn't paid, he gets to continue to be a major voice in the industry That's invaluable, especially when you're starting your own business.

The 1UP Yours podcast is a fantastic podcast, probably the best gaming related one out there.

I agree 1up yours is the top of the line. All other game podcasts emulate it, even down to some of the catch phrases like saying "confirmed" when conjecturing about something, and "not so much". Losing Luke Smith (to Bungie)was a big loss, but it's still the best podcast around. It's great that John is sticking with the podcast. I'm very much looking forward to hearing this episode with the original lineup.

For anyone interested in a more serious gaming podcast, I really enjoy the 'Game Theory" podcast by the Next-Generation guys. It's not as wacky or zany as most of the other shows out there, but I count that as a plus. They choose a topic for each show and discuss it intelligently. Sometimes they'll have an industry player on to help work through a topic. They had a good podcast on whether video games cause violence or aggression, and they had a sociologist who had just completed a study on the subject.

And it's got TWICE the amount of british accents as the 1up yours show!

I haven't liked this podcast since Luke left. There is nobody to call Shane on his B.S. and Patrick is terrible at doing the news. At least they finally added Mark MacDonald in as the 4th member, he at least is willing to argue with Shane who is almost always wrong. Garnet has been the worst member lately though. He says stuff that is just plain wrong and uninformed. Shane at least is well informed despite his opinions being so stupid. I would really like to see Dan Dan Fan Fan on the podcast or Kathleen since they also have a tendency to not put up with or agree with Shane.
