Sure, we had a lot of blogging to catch up on, but we couldn't help but stop by Sierra's splashy Word in Conflict party last night if only to play our favorite game: "How Much Do You Bet This All Cost?" Alongside what appeared to be real military vehicles (they're scary looking in Real Life) and Communist propaganda were the requisite "booth" (party?) babes and overpriced drinks. How overpriced? How does upwards of $7 or $8 sound? It's a good thing anyways, we'd have just drank too much, riflebutted a guard, then drove one of those tank-things out of the building and through downtown Seattle.

Wow, in London 7 or 8 dollars (or £3.50 £4 in real money) isn't bad for a drink...
America is so cheap! When it becomes cheaper to fly over, buy stuff and bring it back, it might even be worth going. Until then, Seattle!!!

Depends on what kind of drink we are talking about. Here, a 12oz bottle of beer is usually USD$2 or so for domestic cheap beers (Bud, Miller, etc) and $3-4 for an imported or higher class beer like Heneiken or Samuel Adams. 20oz mugs (1.25 pints) of draft is usually $5-$6 depending on what you get. So yeah, I'd say $7-$8 is overpriced. Even concessions in sports arenas usually charge around $5 for a 12oz.

What? World in Conflict is an incredible RTS. It's definitely a nice change of pace from your typical resource gathering RTS. The beta was fantastic, and the recent demo release is even better. Pretty much every problem I had with the beta appears to have been ironed out, and the game is very well optimized. On Seaside (previously known as USTown2), my frame rates have doubled on max settings--from 20 FPS to 40 FPS, even during intense firefights. I'm definitely going to get this game.

I wouldn't mind "riflebutting" that chick in the middle. But I'm a sucker for some cleavage.

As a result to those overpriced drinks, the party was really, really empty. The only people there were the ones who wanted to try out the game. Unless it got crowded later on. 8 dollars for a standard beer, not so great.

$7-8 is pretty average in Boston. Expensive is 10-15
welcome to metropolitan areas.
