Crysis demos your system on Sept. 25
And depending on how efficient your computer is at mashing pixels, vertices, shaders, polygons and textures into beautiful three-dimensional vistas, "demos" is either short for "demonstrates"... or "demolishes." Either way, you'll find out on September 25th, when EA releases a PC demo of Crytek's first-person stunner, Crysis. Included in the preview will be the shooter's first level and "a huge surprise from Crytek," which we expect will take the form of evil canines leaping through windows at some point.
We'll point you to the official Crysis site once the demo becomes available.

That's the first screenshot of the game to make me say, "wow, nice graphics." I was wondering what everyone was so impressed with.
GRANTED @ Aug 27th 2007 7:36PM
dogs through windows is my guess, too. better would be an announcement for consoles, but that won't happen till it opens for sale on pc (if it ever does).
Grindstone @ Aug 27th 2007 7:46PM
Well, maybe a console port will happen as soon as they see their potential money being syphoned away bit torrent by bit torrent.
Sept. 25th you say? Hmm, was that deliberate? I would select a day before, steal some thunder as it were before being over-shadowed.
qbix @ Aug 27th 2007 7:38PM
Guess what I'll be playing that day. Hint: its worth $129.
colin @ Aug 27th 2007 7:43PM
crysis in one hand, halo 3 in the other and see which one fills up first.
qbix @ Aug 27th 2007 7:55PM
my crysis hand would also need a new videocard (or two), a new processor, and more memory.
DemonG @ Aug 27th 2007 8:22PM
So the Crysis hand will fill up faster, but then again...
DO NOT WANT
Killer Loki @ Aug 27th 2007 11:46PM
NO VIDEO GAME on ANY CONSOLE, past, present or future is worth paying $129 for. Bitch, you got your ass raped by Microsoft. It's turds like you that drive up the price of video games - yet you'll be the first to bitch when we'll be paying $100 for a regular game.
qbix @ Aug 28th 2007 1:07AM
Bitch, tell that to my cat. He needs a helmet.
Edge @ Aug 28th 2007 1:20AM
The Halo Haters can bite my shiny metal ass. Halo a good game. If you hate on it, hate on it because of something it did wrong, not because the 1337 game store clerk you idolize thinks it's for noobs.
As for $129, they put enough extras in it that I felt it was worth it. What is this "driving up prices" nonsense? People are paying that because they feel it's worth it.
No one is forcing you to get the Legendary Edition. However, the Halo mafia is coming to your town and forcing you to get at least the standard edition. If you don't, I can't promise you that you won't find plasma grenades under your pillows. Someone has to look out for these things...
Keef @ Aug 28th 2007 5:30AM
"Bitch, tell that to my cat. He needs a helmet."
LMFAO!! i dont know why but that made me laff soooooo much....
probobly cos i got 2 cats and so wanna try and put the helmet on them.....
and yeah.... i orderd Legendary!
Takes Legendary to own Legendary! so suck it
Neebs @ Aug 27th 2007 7:48PM
Awesome! I have absolutely no cash after buying Bioshock but I get to play the demo!
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 27th 2007 7:50PM
I have no time to ponder such questions as Link has just grabbed a Smash ball.
Spartan 1308 @ Aug 27th 2007 7:59PM
That's Haloday. I guess that makes easy to remember. I just don't care.
Matt B @ Aug 27th 2007 7:59PM
Thank god for my turbo button.
Actually, my turbo button is now called nTune.
Kazi @ Aug 27th 2007 8:04PM
I really want to play this. Too bad I don't have the money for a computer set up to run this beast. Looks beautiful though.
Mats @ Aug 27th 2007 8:07PM
Prediction: Most downloaded PC demo ehva!
t_m @ Aug 28th 2007 1:41AM
and the next day is the busiest that the PC World repair guys have ever seen.
Hannibal @ Aug 27th 2007 8:13PM
I'm guessing the surprise will be the announcement that Crysis is coming to 360 and/or PS3.
Word of the street. @ Aug 27th 2007 10:35PM
I wish it was ported to the x360 even with crappy grpahics.I dont have 1,000 for a new Rig.
Because money and time is what we dont have.
Stupidiot @ Aug 27th 2007 8:18PM
Well, Bioshock at 1680x1050 has already crippled my x1950Pro. I'd hate to think what Crysis will do to it. I'll be picking up a GeForce 9 series card when they release.
Shawn @ Aug 27th 2007 11:40PM
I have a 1950pro as well, the AGP 512mb version and it ran Bioshock at 1920x1200 with little problem on full settings, no DX10 options though. I only have a 3700+ and a gig o' ram too.
I'm not worried about Crysis at all, and if it ends up running like dog crap, well, let's just say I'll be looking forward to building a new rig. Exciting times for PC technophiles for sure!
RyanD @ Aug 27th 2007 8:20PM
Cool! I wonder how crappy it will run on my PC?
Joshua @ Aug 27th 2007 8:22PM
Ludwig, man, every time I read one of your posts, I always stop halfway through and check who the poster is...It's always so obvious when you wrote something. Seriously, keep writing here.
Einhanderkiller @ Aug 27th 2007 8:23PM
I cannot wait for this game. CryTek is saying that they fixed all that was wrong with Far Cry in Crysis (indoor levels will no longer suck and no stupid mutants!), so I'm almost positive that Crysis will be incredible.
mike @ Aug 27th 2007 8:37PM
i would love to give crysis a go and play halo 3 on the same day, unfortunetly im gonna stick to halo 3 for now since my pc is 4 years short of running that crysis at all :P.
I plan to pick up a new computer for starcraft 2 next year, so Ill be playing crysis at that time.
Savok @ Aug 27th 2007 8:51PM
Well thanks for reminding me how old I am with that joke :p
Dragod @ Aug 27th 2007 8:51PM
They couldn't have picked a worse release date for it... Though, it will still have high downloads.
Watership @ Aug 27th 2007 9:18PM
September 25 is the day I'll be avoiding the forums and hundreds of thousands of PC users bitch that x driver isn't working or that some other glitch won't let them run it. Worse, will be everyone posting their "RIG" specs. Thank god Halo 3 will save me.
DeadPlasmaCell @ Aug 27th 2007 8:56PM
lol @ turbo mode.. I wonder what i'll need to type into DOS to get it to run.
Sam @ Aug 28th 2007 7:09AM
C:\DOS
C:\DOS\RUN
RUN\DOS\RUN
DeadPlasmaCell @ Aug 28th 2007 8:33AM
Well played
impact24 @ Aug 27th 2007 9:19PM
Oh goody....another new game for my 486 dx2!! T-t-t-turbo button ftw!
Hope this game runs on 4mb EDO ram and 1mb video ram.
Jake @ Aug 27th 2007 9:24PM
Just because the date is the 25th doesn't mean this has to be a Halo thread. :)
I'll admit that I am a console guy, but Crysis on PC looks pretty awesome. I wish I had a rig to run it because I would definately buy that game.
A console port has potential but just wouldn't be the same. The game is built ground up for PC controls and would best benefit from the power of an uber-rig. Anybody can see that.
blooh @ Aug 27th 2007 9:44PM
guess what else comes out that day?
http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=78318
Sam @ Aug 28th 2007 7:12AM
FUCK YES
Mats @ Aug 28th 2007 7:46AM
OMG DETHKLOK Day!
phattie @ Aug 27th 2007 10:08PM
I'll probably never own another desktop PC in my life... how am i suppose to play any PC game that isnt 5 years old.
t_m @ Aug 28th 2007 1:43AM
I'm with you. Still, laptops FTW.
As more and more people start using laptops (sale rising fast, desktop sales falling) I wonder how long games like this can survive?
Grindstone @ Aug 28th 2007 1:40PM
I agree. I only plan on buying laptops from now on. Sure, I may miss out on some stellar PC games, but that is why I buy consoles now -- wait for the port. The laptop does all my chores, plus surf the web. My major gaming is done on the big HDtv. PC gaming is too expensive to maintain, and too tedious as well. Not to mention chronic back pain...
Sircolby45 @ Aug 27th 2007 10:14PM
Dam! I want to play this game so bad, but my 6150 video card is not even going to touch this thing. I want to upgrade it, but unfortunately all that money is going to all the great games coming out this fall!!!
Spartan @ Aug 27th 2007 10:40PM
I hope my 8800 can run this on highest.... because I really have some doubts that I will be able to.
Dan @ Aug 27th 2007 11:32PM
Your doubts are wrong!
Jeff @ Aug 27th 2007 11:05PM
I'm really impressed with how my 8800 handles Bioshock; I think there's a lot of room for graphics before it starts getting beat down.
ark_v2 @ Aug 27th 2007 11:55PM
Oh...so my PC will crash after clicking on the start button on sep. 25 huh...
Jonah Falcon @ Aug 28th 2007 5:24AM
Will my Atari 2600 handle it, or will I have to upgrade to the IntelliVision?
Cal @ Aug 28th 2007 6:29AM
I think a 5200 would help you more than an IntelliVision. But they don't come cheap. I mean, they are state of the art and all.
ben @ Aug 28th 2007 8:33AM
Why do people think that this game requires an uber high end system? Have you looked at the system requirements? It's not THAT bad. You might need a new card if you have had a piece of crap plugged into your computer, but that's about it. 2gb of ram? Standard in new computers unless you are buying a dirt cheap Dell... >.>
Chris @ Aug 28th 2007 1:36PM
Huge suprise? I bet it's a free download of FarCry.
