Metal Slug 3 coming to XBLA

Nobody knows when it'll be released, but SNK finally announced that Metal Slug 3 will hit Xbox Live Arcade in the relative future. SNK is apparently showing the game at next month's Tokyo Games Show according to a translated press release. They will also be showing off Fatal Fury Special at the event as well. Ever since the announcement of Metal Slug on XBLA a year ago, fans have wondered which installment of the franchise would be used.

For straight-up Xbox users, it's nice that Metal Slug is coming to XBLA, but frankly there's plenty of systems to play the whole series on with Metal Slug Anthology. Not to mention, GameTap also practically has the whole series as well -- and there's typically one in rotation on their free service, plus you can just stick a wired Xbox controller in your PC and there you have an XBLA experience. But, if you must have it on XBLA, Metal Slug will come blasting around eventually.

if it has online co-op it will be sweet, because in all fairness I don't believe the other platforms support that, except for gametap which in my experience has been fun but really laggy.

WHY Microsoft, did you design a gamepad so good, but with that horrible d-pad? just fix it please. make it work.

That's great and all, but considering it's only £23 for Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii then it's not so great.

I'll continue my search for a reasonably priced MVS cart thanks.

I've been pretty diligent about buying everything (yeah, everything) released on XBLA so far just to support the concept, but I won't be buying SNK/Playmore releases in this format, because I've already got a collection of sixty or so MVS carts and most of the titles they're likely to release are already among them.

The truly rare stuff probably won't ever hit XBLA (Viewpoint? Or...Ghostlop? no way).
