See video of new Halo 3 levels from PAX

Two challengers are brought before a massive audience to test their opponent's gaming mettle on a gigantic screen. Though the game is familiar to them, the rules have been changed. There are new levels that they're unfamiliar with, new items they've never used. Two will enter the battle, but only one will leave victorious. It's the final round of Video Armegeddon and the game? Super Mario Bros. 3! ... No, wait, that's not right. It was the Omegathon, and the game was Halo 3. But the similarities are striking, aren't they?

Now, you can be a part of the unofficial sequel to The Wizard with this video direct from the competition. Though the audience gets pretty pumped whenever they see new weapons like the flame thrower, the excitement when the sword is brought into play is palpable. The battle continues after the jump.

the sword is one of the reasons i was not too big on halo2 multi player.one hit kills with someone hiding behind a wall with a sword does not look all that enjoyable to me. it's worse than sniping and everybody hates those guys. i didn't play the beta but assume there will be an option on multiplayer where we can chose the weapons we want to play with, ala everything but swords.

Also, this time around, Bungie has chosen to keep the 'ammo' aspect of the sword in multiplayer as well. So a player who has the sword during a multiplayer game will only have a set amount of kills they could get before the sword 'expires'.

And yeah there will be an option to not include the sword... or change the sword placement (and even 'ammo' limit) around the map using the Forge... heck you could even place a bunch of fusion cores (the exploding barrels) around the sword on the your own custom map, so that there's an added danger of being blown to bits for anybody rushing in to get the sword when it spawns.

I would have loved that option if it had of been in Halo 2 Midship map... the sword was devestating on that map, in my opinion.

i agree that it's a good thing they gave it ammo, but i think 10 is still too much, its still easy to use and while a noob would probably only get 3 kills with that, a good player should get 10 kills no prob.
i think 7 or 8 would have been a more reasonable number... but then again, at least it's not unlimited like before, so i guess i can't complain.

ezkial you might have gotten first place if it was only halo 3. These guys made it to the final round because they were better at the other game challenges. Halo 3 is only the game challenge for the final round.

it is from Omegathon. At about 0:58 into the second vid the announcer says "MNCDover in the lead".

from watching the video, you would think all those people played halo for the first time today. They cheered for ever sword slash. A guy picks up a fuel rod gun they cheer. He hits a man cannon they cheer.

WTf. Have they not played the h3 beta? I mean I think halo 3 is great and all, but a 1v1 in that craptacular hallway level does not look fun at all. And even if it was fun, why all the cheering like they never seen the game before? The announcer was like.. oooo flame grenades. OMG LOOK, somethings about to go down. It sounded so stupid.
