Ever since FIFA was made into a huge deal, I haven't been paying attention to games like Pro Evolution Soccer, this makes me want to read a bit more about that game. But anyways, if the Germans are choosing Pro Evolution over FIFA, than it probably is a worthy try.

I hope they are both worthwhile experiences on the PS3. I will go with FIFA 08 though. A worthwhile EA experience...I'm there.

PES is the better franchise as far as actual gameplay goes, FIFA has all the glitz and glamor, the changes in this years FIFA should make it a better game, but I dont know if it will beat PES, ill eventually buy both

Pro Evolution or Winning 11 as we have called in the states has, in my opinion, always been the best Soccer franchise on the Playstation. I I'm very excited for this game to drop.

Finally, Europeans get a game that justifies their PS3 purchase. From what I've read, Euros are all over soccer games and they move systems.

PES is the best soccer game on any console. Anyone who knows the game and is really into it (meaning you call it football) will tell you this. PES or winning eleven has the gameplay down to a science. FIFA has all the trimmings that makes for an okay experience like the commentary, menus, music, and graphics. The germans don't lie, they know PES is the best and is best played with a Playstation controller.

Man, football games.

How many years ago did they stop getting new features and start becoming a nearly 100% yearly roster update game? It was like 2002 right?

PES is the most fun you can have on a virtual football field.

FIFA has always been way too easy to score. I've heard some pretty ordinary things about this version compared to last years especially graphics-wise. (not a big leap in many things.)

Please don't make it another PS2 port. PC/PS3/360 all want more!

Is it possible these days to do crazy stuff like bicycle kicks? I was playing the Winning pro game with my friend, and it ended with a 0-0 score and went to overtime with the penalty kicks or whatever. It wasn't much fun but was plenty frustrating. So much so it was returned shortly after. You pretty much have to be a pro at the game to get anything done. Definitely not a pickup game. I wonder if either of these mentioned games will be any better for people who aren't die hard soccer fans but liked playing the game as a kid.
Knock the baseball games for realism all you want (only complaint i can see against them), but it's possible to pick the game up and be pretty competitive right out the gate (and it's exciting and fun).

Where's the excitement with the soccer games? If I could make an analogy it'd be "all pumping no orgasm"

Maybe I'm being dense tonight, but where is the original source for this story? I can't find it...

Pro Evo has the best game play, however Fifa looks better, and has everything nice and licensed.

Something Konami could spend ALOT more time on.

I hope they've fixed the list of annoyances from the last pro evo and can give us some proper refereeing aswell.

I'm not happy about the new commentators though, the old ones were absolute idiots, but Mark Lawrenson... Sucks that cnut is now involved in the game.

Pro Evo rocks!

I just hope the German Bundesliga is included in this year's game unlike last year...

This says "best ps2 game at the show"-- is it ps2, ps3, or both? This is unclear. The ps2 got the award but ps3 didn't? Is this a typo?
