You may remember yesterday when the whole entire internet was supposed to log on to one site at the exact same time to register for their first-come, first-served beta token Call of Duty 4. Surprising absolutely no one, the traffic brought the servers to their knees. Now, beta sign-ups have been extended until 7 p.m. PDT today at which point tokens will be distributed through a lotto. That's bad news if you stayed home from work yesterday to heed the call, but good news if you missed out, because you can still register right now.
Boy, we haven't seen this much confusion and drama surrounding a massive public beta since ... well, since the last time there was a massive public beta.

The token is a code they email you that you enter into the marketplace blade and it grants you access to download the beta. I'm looking forward to having more opponents, the team objective room has been pretty dry at times.

If I get the token. It deserves a slow-mo 80's jump to the A-Team theme song...

You would think that a companay that is capable of making what, by all accounts, appears to be an incredible game, could figure out how to roll out a beta. You could think that, but you would be wrong.

So here they go with yet another try and you still can't access the website (or at least I still can't). Somewhere there is a monkey in a server room tossing poo all over the place.

After yesterday, if I don't get a freaking token, I will not be buying Call of Duty 4. That was the worst (yes, worse than Halo 3 Beta) idea for beta signups ever. Now we have to wait 72 hours to find out if we are even in the Beta or not apparently, and if we aren't, the only other way is to pre-order Call of Duty 4 (YEAH RIGHT AFTER YESTERDAY!!) or be a Gamespot subscriber (Also yeah right). If they want my 60 dollars, there will be a code in my box come tomorrow (or tonight would be preferable)

I'm a Gamespot subscriber. I have not seen anything about them giving away BETA codes. Please, tell me what you think you might know...!?

"ONLY UNITED STATES-BASED XBOX LIVE ACCOUNTS SHOULD BE REGISTERING FOR A SPOT IN THE BETA DRAWING!!!
International Users: Please be patient, we will get you a Token for your territory as soon as we can!"
Didn't they just say they were opening it up to international players? God.

Click the link that is your user name underneath your regular picture on your comment. Then sign in to the webpage that shows up by clicking the link that says "Are you Platinum Night? If So, Login Here." Then enter your password. From there you can change your password to something you choose and upload a custom avatar.

me too my man, me too. seems like you level up pretty quick. then again, i'm used to lost planet leveling up where it takes 50 matches to go to the next level. you get up in the 90s and it's rough. but once i hit lvl 99, i kinda quit playing it. thank you COD4 beta!!!!

Um, did you get the same error I did " Please read the entire terms of use before continuing" ??
I DID READ IT. ALL TEN Provisions! And I then clicked Accept Agreement and it keeps giving this error!
Way to go Activision Admins! great coding? Bias against Firefox or Safari? Meh.
Hey, how many of you were also born on January 1, 1989 ??

Someone asked earlier where I heard about pre-ordering and gamespot subscribers; It was Fourtwozero's (guy that works for Infinity Ward) blog. I believe what he said was "There will be other chances to join the beta, including some at Gamespot and Gamestop"
Gamespot would be for subscribers, Gamestop would be for pre-orderers (one would assume). What we were angry about wasn't the obvious server crash, it was that Infinity Ward should have known that the server would crash (since it had the previous time) and that noone from Infinity Ward came out to tell us what was going on until an hour and a half after the Beta signups were supposedly to have started. As someone that waited so he could get a first-come-first-serve token, I think I speak for all of us when I say that only having a chance of getting in via a lotto is a downgrade from the more or less guaranteed spot we did have. Beta's aren't a right I guess, but neither is it IW's right that I will buy their game =P and I fully plan not to buy it without previously playing it in this Beta.
