PlayStation Phone "obviously" being looked into

In an interview with Pocket Gamer, Peter Ahnegard, "gaming guru" at Sony Ericsson, had a few choice words about the long-rumored PlayStation Phone. "Up until today we haven't felt we could launch a PlayStation phone because it wouldn't be recognised as a true continuation of that brand of products."

Of course, his wording caught the attention of the interviewer, who wanted to know more about what "until today" meant. The answer confirms a PS phone, but does so in a vague and a generally un-helpful way: "It's obviously something that we're looking at but right now I can't really comment. Before Christmas, certainly ... but exactly which Christmas I can't confirm!"

Well, it looks like we'll get our PS Phone Christmas ~~2007~~ ~~2008~~ 2009?

How about we get GPS/Upgraded Camera/Non-PS3 PSN accounts/TV Tuner etc etc here in NA before we start wishing for a PSPhone

I totally agree with you, and all a phone will do will make the psp less of a portable gaming device and make it less of the main originality... I just dont see much of the point.

I see the psp as a portable gaming device with multimedia capabilities. Not visa versa..

My .02

well Sony Ericsson makes lots of phones based off Sony's brands ex. a Cyber shot a phone with the main focus on the camera, so a Playstation phone would focus mainly on the gaming aspect. I think people are thinking the Playstation phone will be this big thing that could rival the PSP, but it most likely will just have a faster processor than most phone with more ram and an interface that keeps gaming in mind.
