Tiger Woods 08 demo now on Live
We have to cop to being just a little bit ignorant of golf games. It's never been moved to a street or played by a league of mutants, so we have a hard time separating it from the herd. Honestly, it's a good thing that Mario's played it, or else all our golf knowledge would be drawn from Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore, whichever one was about golf. (Wait, the price is wrong? But it's Bob Barker, host of The Price Is Right! God, that's still such a stitch.)
Given all this, we're probably not the best to judge the quality of the new demo of Tiger Woods 08. We do know that it seems like EA has been going the extra mile with this year's sports games. But we'll leave it to you guys to let us know if this continues the trend.

Wow...how aggravating...Live but not PSN.
Sad. It's time to buy a 360.
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 28th 2007 1:56PM
Billy Madison is totally not a Paris Hilton ripoff. They had a penguin when he's drunk. That's got to count for something.
baby sea tuna @ Aug 28th 2007 2:02PM
Effin golf. My dad's been talking about this game for WEEKS now. Maybe the demo'll keep him busy for a little while...
mr nimblewick @ Aug 28th 2007 2:02PM
Nice screenshot!
Anyway, Mutant League Golf would be nice.
Then again, Mutant League anything at this point would be nice.

JESUS, whatever the problem is, FIX IT PLEASE!!!

The problem is very simple. You pressed the "Add Your Comments" button more than once. And you felt embarassed about it, so you blamed Joystiq.
baby sea tuna @ Aug 28th 2007 3:20PM
No, that wasn't it at all. I hit it once, like I always do, and it reloaded the page, like it always does...and behold, no comment.
I'm a dumb guy, but I'm not that dumb. It's not like I'm the only one this has ever happened to...
Ska Oreo @ Aug 28th 2007 3:37PM
Why would you admit you're dumb?
baby sea tuna @ Aug 28th 2007 3:47PM
Because I'm an innovator. Lotta dumb people on the Internet and no one ever seems to admit it. Kind of liberating...
Ska Oreo @ Aug 29th 2007 2:49AM
good point.
Jason B @ Aug 28th 2007 2:06PM
I hope you meant "bit" not "big" in the first sentence.
Patrick @ Aug 28th 2007 2:42PM
just after the comments about how joystiq hates blogs with typos! tisk tisk, por form joystiq. well it leaves only one solution, fire Justin McElroy! lol, why do people want him fired? i think its hilarious though
Justin McElroy @ Aug 28th 2007 7:41PM
Hmmm, I don't see it.
Jake @ Aug 28th 2007 2:36PM
I don't really like Madden anymore, but used to. I still like baseball multiplayer because the pitching is quite fun.
Woods golf, however, is the only sports game I still truly enjoy. The pace of it when you have 4 people drinking beer and golfing a round is great. You do something, then get to chill for a minute. Great game to play in the middle of a party. Nongamers can play it decent as well. Skins ftw!
jonny quest @ Aug 28th 2007 2:43PM
My knowledge of golf comes from Caddyshack.

Best thing about Tiger 08 is the face-mapping feature (check the EA site for a video demo). You can use the 360 camera, or upload photos via Live. You can pinpoint the eyes/nose etc. and then further tweak it via GameFace. My father in-law will flip when I put his face on a golfer. All sports games need this feature!
baby sea tuna @ Aug 28th 2007 3:22PM
Yeah, that's the feature I'm most interested in too.
I assume I have to psyche myself up for this game since I'm probably gonna be forced to buy it.
Dave Shaw @ Aug 28th 2007 3:32PM
That sounds a lot like an EA "guerilla" marketing post. Congrats EA, you've either sunk to a very low form of marketing or produced a fan that spouts whatever you tell he/she to care about.
Kudos.
ill trooper @ Aug 28th 2007 3:55PM
Dave Shaw: Either way, it's a cool feature that has been a lot of fun in Rainbow 6, and I wish more games had it myself.
JJ Rooster @ Aug 28th 2007 3:53PM
lol, yeah that does sound a bit like a plant. But seriously, I have always wanted a custom team of my amigos for NHL and Madden when they come over to play. The generic face models and player names on the jersey are last gen. As for supporting EA, I'm actually not planning to "buy" this game, so...
Stef Geiger @ Aug 28th 2007 3:23PM
Can anyone comment on the difficulty level after playing the demo? I'm going to get flamed for this, but I liked 2006's style, and found 2007's difficulty level skyrocketed. Where does 2008 appear to fall? Also, does the game run in 720p or 1080i? (I ask because I want to know if the PS3 version will run in 1080i).
WiNG @ Aug 28th 2007 3:34PM
Actually Drew Carrey is the host of the Price is Right now. Ugh.
Matt B @ Aug 28th 2007 3:58PM
I've played all the TW golf series and all of the Hot Shots series(except 5). TW looks nice but HS is more fun in my opinion and opinions of my video golfing buddies.
Jason B @ Aug 28th 2007 4:37PM
Knock! Knock! Hello! McFly! Knock! Knock! Is anybody home?!
Come on Joystiq are you seriously not even going to bother fixing your own typos?
SuicideNInja @ Aug 28th 2007 5:45PM
Tiger Woods is the only EA Sports game I enjoy.
Honestly though...I never got around to doing anything in Tiger 06 or 07 on the 360. Not enough courses in the former, not enough motivation for the latter.
I even tried the Wii version of 07...horrible waste of money. I was better off with Super Swing, which isn't saying much. When's the Wii going to get a solid golf game?
I'm hoping I can finally settle into 2008 for the 360. Better check out the demo. Or just hit the course for real...that would be nice for once.
TrojanGuy @ Aug 28th 2007 6:43PM
It's been time to buy a 360 for a loooong time.
mattydread @ Aug 28th 2007 7:12PM
It doesn't look any different from 07, and it's not like Madden where I buy it primarily for updated rosters... I'll check out the demo but I think I'll hold off until 09. I still haven't won the FedEx cup...
