Today in Joystiq: August 28, 2007
Head to the intersection of Fairfax and Santa Monica if you are ever in Los Angeles and take a gander at this random game-related piece of graffiti (picture thanks to Matthew). Since 505 makes no sense given the location or context, we're banking on S.O.S. -- though, still, we're kind of in the dark about that. Check out the highlights for today:

What's 505 and S.O.S.? I know what 404 means but not much else.
lessbiasedthanmost @ Aug 29th 2007 1:00AM
S.O.S officially stands for Save our Ship, but it can also be translated as Save our Shit among other things.
No idea if 505 is supposed to be something...
Strike Man @ Aug 29th 2007 1:00AM
Assuming you're actually serious about asking "What's S.O.S.?"...

Bobblen is summoning the SOS Brigade.

Captain Obvious here:
"505 might have been the number of the building!"
See you next time *flies away*

Oh no, someone's kidnapped one of the Bubble Bobble dinosaurs (dragons?) and they need our help. Quickly, begin cordinating the rescue operation!
BPM @ Aug 29th 2007 1:18AM
Dragon is correct. The official term for Bub/Bubby/Bubblen (green) and Bob/Bobby/Bobblen (blue) in this form is "Bubble Dragon."
Just some random trivia (Well, I guess it's not all that random, since it's related to the topic at hand... Okay, I'm rambling now. I'd better stop before I go on too long. I hate it when I ramble on and on, completely forgetting the reason I made a comment in the first place. You ever have that happen to you?).
Tobikow @ Aug 29th 2007 1:38AM
505 is the area code for New Mexico...which also totally dosen't make any sense either...
The Iconoclast @ Aug 29th 2007 2:54AM
I've noticed that a few months ago. If you look closely, it's actually a tile mosaic.
I'm guessing that SOS is actually the graffiti artist's handle.
Trocke @ Aug 29th 2007 10:41AM
Look out it's a bomb!
Tikirat @ Aug 29th 2007 11:17AM
Is this one on the invader's pieces? He usually works in tile.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Aug 29th 2007 12:35PM
Could be this:

stephen @ Aug 29th 2007 12:59PM
His name is space invader and he has tile mosaics all over the world. Thats one of about 5 that I've seen in LA. There's a giant one on the side of a building on Melroseon my way home from work. His site is space-invaders dot com.
Adam Bergstein @ Aug 29th 2007 1:05PM
Gaming graffiti, I love it! Nothing better than seeing the video game world affect life outside the games as well.
prawn @ Aug 29th 2007 9:10PM
HAS ANYBODY HERE EVER PLAYED BUBBLE BOBBLE BEFORE!? jeez... when one player dies in a two player game, they are in the corner beckoning you to insert coin or push start and sometimes say SOS.
Seth @ Aug 30th 2007 3:05PM
Um, I call Photoshop, at least on the large image with the small dragon image. It's totally not fitting into the rest of the ambient light. Also, it's closer to the bottom pipe than the one in the inset image.
I would call Photoshop on the whole thing if The Iconoclast didn't just confirm that he's seen it too...
