Halo 3 goes gold, pray your Xbox doesn't brick
Microsoft today confirmed that Halo 3 has been released to manufacturing, following sightings of the finished game on Xbox Live this past weekend. The next stop for the little green man is the production plants, where millions of plastic discs and an army's worth of Spartan helmets will be flying off assembly lines over the next four weeks in anticipation of the Dew-chugging fiends who will risk holding their bloated bladders for a choice spot in line -- and not just at game retailers, no, that line will snake around your local 7-Eleven. And all for day-one bragging rights, apparently.
So let's just sit back, take a deep breath, and gently practice patience. Halo 3 is done, and we'll finish the fight soon enough. (Lord willin'.)

I am ready, got my Elite which has just undergone a rigourous test of about 17 hours straight of Bioshock.
Lifted 0ne 4l9 @ Aug 30th 2007 9:37AM
yea mine just died on me while playing Bioshock, colors went all funny so i saved and restarted to find the bottom right LED blinking red and a black screen of death with a E 74 error, and went through process of finding my error code of 1022, no red ring of death its over a year old was not happy it held up so strong this whole time. So i decided to do cheapy D's towel trick hoping that it would cause the circle of death didn't think it would fix it like it temporarily fix's RROD systems, but it did going on 3 days since hopefully when this temp fix is over it gives me the circle of death so i can have it fixed for free if not towel trick again it is till it does.
DrBatch @ Aug 29th 2007 1:30PM
I have 2 360s just in case one dies on me.
Dr. Strangel0ve @ Aug 29th 2007 1:31PM
If I don't have my 360 back from Microsoft by the 25th, terrible, terrible things are going to happen.
Tesley @ Aug 29th 2007 4:37PM
hahhhahahahaha!!!
Grindstone @ Aug 29th 2007 1:31PM
RROD's are inevitable, just like passing gas.
Still, I pray my flawless 12/2/05 console doesn't do anything stupid like the above mentioned.
Oh yes, and I will finish the fight with my Standard copy Halo 3 game. (I don't own a cat.)
qbix @ Aug 29th 2007 1:56PM
ROFL, I'm sure the helmet will also fit small dogs.
Hirsbrunner @ Aug 29th 2007 2:18PM
Try Beano.
Ska Oreo @ Aug 29th 2007 3:07PM
I don't know. Your console is over a year old. I think it'll be fine.
ssuk @ Aug 29th 2007 3:57PM
"RROD's are inevitable"?
Odd since it actually effects less than 40% of consoles, even less since the Elite appeared with some quick-fixes to help lower the *supposed* 33% failure rate of the 360. Good going.
pete @ Aug 29th 2007 5:11PM
Dude, I bought mine on 12/04/05 -- BioShock bricked it just last week. As I learned from a conversation with a CSR, "these new games are just really pushing the console to the limit; lots of older machines are being sent in these days." I hate to be a naysayer, but it's only a matter of time. I didn't believe it till mine died - but it is what it is.
Joe Schmoe @ Aug 29th 2007 6:07PM
Whatever, mine died watching a DVD...that was one intense DVD I guess.
I thought I had one of the good ones too. I bought a elite while my other one is in the shop, and when I get that I'm hooking up two tv's and two copies of halo 3. 4 player co-op in the courtesy of my own apartment. Woot!
Nter @ Aug 29th 2007 6:35PM
Was it a Chuck Norris flick?
Brian @ Aug 29th 2007 8:28PM
My 2005 Xbox 360 broke two months ago, you need to be careful lol
baby sea tuna @ Aug 29th 2007 1:32PM
Wow, we don't even need the SDF bringing up the RRoD, you already took care of it for them. Good show, dick!
Matt B @ Aug 29th 2007 1:34PM
Sept. 25th baby!!! The Crysis demo will be mine!!!
Oh crap, wrong thread....
OnimushaSoki @ Aug 29th 2007 1:41PM
I'm still trying to figure out if it's worth taking the day after its release off from work... :\ The last time I did that was 9/9/99 for the SEGA Dreamcast release... and look what happened to the console after that!
Grindstone @ Aug 29th 2007 1:45PM
You're bad luck, please go to work that day.
Sleaze @ Aug 29th 2007 2:00PM
Awesome. Just started getting 3 reds last night. My third 360 to do so since January '07.
jadnice @ Aug 29th 2007 1:44PM
HAHAAHAHHAHAHA,
I can see it now... 2 million 360 brick right as the halo 3 logo show. Its microsoft so it could happen. Nothing they make or code works right out of the box.
there will be many pissed of 360 owners come next month.
Cox Attack @ Aug 29th 2007 1:48PM
Because Microsoft coded and made Halo 3 right?
Grindstone @ Aug 29th 2007 1:51PM
Cox Attack, be nice to jaundice, he's a poor bitter troll with little to no intellect to speak of. We wish him well.
Phranctoast @ Aug 29th 2007 2:53PM
Its part of their great scheme to double all their 360 sales instantaneously. ;)
robert @ Aug 29th 2007 4:07PM

Next time you are going to write a story headline don't have a fanboy do it!
What an absolute stupid headline. You can't just say "Halo 3 goes gold" Why do you have to take a cheap shot? Are you hurting that much for freakin web hits?
btw - I own 2 360's and never had an issue with either.
LAboy @ Aug 29th 2007 1:51PM
Right on mate!!
jadnice @ Aug 29th 2007 1:57PM
In response to the clown "Cox Attack",
The world know that Microsoft didn't make Halo3 but if there sh*tty manufactured hardware fails then what good is a Halo 3 DVD in your hand. As for the software side of things... Never have Microsoft produce a OS that out of the box isn't full with problems (incomplete till SP2 drops) or just not complete. Vista is loading with all sorts of problems. I hope for you, Cox Attack, that your 360 does brick next month.
I feel sorry for those poor souls that have to or is forced to buy 2...Damn 2 system to ensure they can play their loved games...geez what the f*ck is that.
lessbiasedthanmost @ Aug 29th 2007 2:01PM
Why own two 360s if you're not in the least bit worried about the RROD? The way I see it, joystiq is just telling the people who have an extra 360 lying about to get it ready, in the possibility the console might die.
Don't take this the wrong way though, if the PS3 or the Wii had such a high failure rate, every one of the articles on them would have the same sort of "jab".
Cox Attack @ Aug 29th 2007 2:07PM
Well "Jadnice", if mine bricks I'll be upset but it wouldn't be too bad. I'd wait the three weeks it took me when my console did brick a while ago(and my new one is doing just fine) and play it then.
What I was trying to say is, you are insinuating that by playing Halo 3 that consoles are going to start bricking left and right because it's a Microsoft product. Your comment also was worded to insinuate that Halo 3 is a complete work of Microsoft(thus making your comment a complete load of bullshit). Seriously man, it's not even worth it to argue over this. A lot of people are excited for this game, way more than maybe any game that has come out before it. You spewing your spiteful garbage isn't going to change that for anyone. Please, go comment on news for Lair or something. I promise I won't be there going "LOL EGM SAID THAT GAME SUCKED".
-Sir Cox Attack the Third
Badboy1979 @ Aug 29th 2007 2:11PM
Why own TWO 360s, you ask?
Well there's this thing called System link that allows you to play some multiplayer/co-op games (Halo 3 included) over LAN... and believe it or not, some of us like to have LAN parties with friends (who might not even have a 360) in person.
... not to mention, that the 360 serves as a Media center extender (streaming video, music, and pictures), CD player, DVD player, and voice/video chat box in any room that's its available. I have 2 360s (that have yet to have any problems with) and plan on getting a 3rd (especially if they do another small price drop around da holidays...fingers crossed) before the year is out for another room at home.
Korova @ Aug 29th 2007 4:07PM
I think the headline alludes to the fact that BioShock bricked two Joystiq 360s. And BS is not as megaton!
qbix @ Aug 29th 2007 1:50PM
I've got my elite, and a window-mounted air conditioner shooting straight at it. I also just received my other 360 back from repair ready to take over in case my elite dies.
Jason @ Aug 29th 2007 2:19PM
i bought another 360 to get ready for halo, so my brother and i can play co-op with each having their own screen without being on-live. he gets the better of the deal playing on my 61" dlp while i get the 42" plasma
HineyWipe @ Aug 29th 2007 2:27PM
I see someone that took great pride in modd'g their avatar! Bravo! :)
qbix @ Aug 29th 2007 2:53PM
photoshop is my weapon :) I keep changing it, but for now I'm getting the Halo fever.
LAboy @ Aug 29th 2007 1:50PM

Our Father, which art in Redmond, Washington,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Xbox come.
Thy Halo 3 be done,
in earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily gaming.
And forgive us our RROD,
As we forgive them that RROD against us.
And lead us not into temptation of buying a PS3;
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Patrick @ Aug 29th 2007 1:59PM
lol that looks familiar
Cellien @ Aug 29th 2007 2:12PM
Wow man.. Written so well! :)
Ska Oreo @ Aug 29th 2007 3:09PM
Halo should be made into a religion.
That's how hardcore the game is.
Jake @ Aug 29th 2007 4:04PM
Just replace the last word before amen (evil) over to Wiivel and you've got yourself a prayer.
Mr. P @ Aug 29th 2007 1:56PM
I feel like the only person on the planet who couldn't give a shit about this game. Since I'll be getting my 360 back at around the time it releases, I'll be busy with Bioshock anyway.
Jeff @ Aug 29th 2007 2:32PM
Good choice, sir.
If Bioshock had multiplayer-- Masterchief who?
ZenGaijin @ Aug 29th 2007 1:58PM
Too late, its already in Texas now. I pray I get it back in time for Halo.
Word of the street. @ Aug 29th 2007 1:59PM
My x360 is acting weird since I downloaded streets of rage...
baby sea tuna @ Aug 29th 2007 2:04PM
Did it start acting like a small black child on rollerblades? Cause if so, I'd totally blame it on Streets!
lessbiasedthanmost @ Aug 29th 2007 2:07PM
It's full of rage. Watch out or you'll become a running English zombie.
