Microsoft today confirmed that Halo 3 has been released to manufacturing, following sightings of the finished game on Xbox Live this past weekend. The next stop for the little green man is the production plants, where millions of plastic discs and an army's worth of Spartan helmets will be flying off assembly lines over the next four weeks in anticipation of the Dew-chugging fiends who will risk holding their bloated bladders for a choice spot in line -- and not just at game retailers, no, that line will snake around your local 7-Eleven. And all for day-one bragging rights, apparently.
So let's just sit back, take a deep breath, and gently practice patience. Halo 3 is done, and we'll finish the fight soon enough. (Lord willin'.)

Mine RROD 3 weeks ago, ship 2 weeks ago and seen the blog 6 weeks turnaround. It's going to be close. I got people betting on this right now to which one will arrive first.

yeah, my launch 360 just went RROD when I was playing madden, and when i called microsoft they said they were going to give me "a free one month live subscription for my trouble..."
its almost a shame, seeing as how you can sign up for a new live account and get one month free no matter what...

What's with the people that assume this headline is a joke? The term "gold" means that Microsoft has issued the master disc for copying for the main production-line of games. One "gold" disc makes four or five "masters", from which the rest of the thousands (or, in Halo's case, millions, most likely) of copies are made.

My original, bought at launch, 360 bricked after about a year.... the replacement they sent just bricked on me last week. Got the box from Microsoft yesterday and now I have to wait until the holiday is over to send it to them. I hope to have it back by the 25th but I'm not holding my breath! :(

Hello Chaps,
Just to give a little info on what some think that Halo 3 being the most anticipated game ever. Just to get this out of the way, I'm not a "Fan boy" by any means, i have systems by All three Major players.
I think anyone you would agree that the console video game market is spit into not even shares of 3 right now
with Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Sony PS3,
Now lets think in our heads that all three systems became one! Wow would that be nuts, one major system! all you friends could share games right? no more of that, "oh my mom got me a wii, damn i was wanting to borrow that gears of war that you don't play anymore" (Does anyone stop playing gears? I don't.... :) )
Well guys.
This was the case back in my hayday.
There was one system, that was the NES. and the game, the only game that everyone HAD to have and could not just borrow, was Super Mario Bros. 3! Nintendo sold over 18 million on the NES of just this game alone. the Xbox 360 has about a installed base of 9 million currently, and it seem from reading this page, that all only 4.5 million people have them, seeming that all you guys have two (hehe)
You my of seen a late 80's movie with Fred Savage, called The Wizard.
and yes my Dad payed for this at the box office.
This was a movie with the third act was just going to and playing Super Mairo Bros. 3
The game VIA Nintendo's slick ad campaigns is the all time wanted game in my book.
i think Microsoft dropped the ball when that Halo movie got delayed!
