I'd really like to get a reactionary interview from Jack Thompson, who moments after the shooting said something to the effect of "I guarantee this was the cause of violent video games". It's really unfortunate that there has to be a scapegoat when all these activists are doing is masking the real problem.

Crazy people shouldn't play video games. It makes us normal gamers look bad.

And we all here are normal, no?

On a related note, I almost bought the gun pictured there.. They had a sweet deal, Glock 19 Homeland defender edition, came with 4 mags, trajicon night sights, the tactical light and extended slide release and magazine releases for about $650. Too bad they were sold out, I like my sig much better though, I'm not a big fan of the weight of the trigger pull on the glock, I like having the half trigger pull after the hammer is cocked back. Makes it easier to empty the magazine into a target a lot faster.

Oh, and that kid was fucked up before the gun, too bad the school security guards weren't allowed to carry either, or he might have been taken out. Funny how all school shootings happen in gun free school zones.

i live in virginia, fairfax,

this study is not just about video games, it was about what caused the rampage and what could have been done to stop it

so stop the comments of "wow im glad we wasted taxpayer money on this"

cause i think it was worth it

It's remarkable that they didn't find a link to games. It would have been completely unremarkable if they had.

Not because there's any association between games and violence, but because 99% of male college students play violent games.

Based on the statistics and the results of this report, it would make a lot more sense to start looking for a correlation between violence and people who -don't- play games.

The guy went probably ballistic because Sonic kept on sucking hard in 3D.

OR it could be some wicked conspiracy tailored JUST for Jack Thompson by creating a giant modern day school massacre not involving videogames !!!

.... I'm going to Hell.

First of all I love going to the shooting range. So much that I once took a date there. She loved it too.

With that said, I've always hated the gun lovers defense of "People kill people, not guns" I hate responding in a defensive way.

While true, it doesn't excuse the fact that it's so easy to purchase one w/o any proper training. I don't believe we should ban guns, but have stricter laws enforced.

Another pet peeve defense is "Why don't we ban knives, cars, axes, hands, etc...they can kill people too." Again another defensive response, putting gun owners on their heels.

C'mon, let's be resonable. A gun is more efficient, than any of the above mentioned. Sure, I love the sport of it, but if I had to buy a weapon to defend my home I'm using a gun--which, yes, means to kill if necessary. I don't own a gun. I would never by a car, golf club, axe etc...to defend my home.

If I was debating for the other side, I can just as easily argue, "If you think guns should be legal, why not AKs, Grenades, Rocket Launchers, and Tanks?"

Most irresponsibility comes with fear. I feel many gun owners purchase guns to try to mask that fear--which really adds to the recipe of disaster without proper training. We should fight for better laws for distributing firearms, not to ban them.

But it really doesn't matter how far our laws progress without the proper education and training.

AKs are legal, I own one. You can even get an automatic one if you are willing to pay the $2000 atf Stamp and the $15k or so for the gun. The fact is the responsible person can not kill innocents with any gun in the world just as easily as teh psychopath can kill people without any guns. It is an Inanimate object, You need to pull the trigger to kill someone with it.

Jack Thompson should issue a official apology to Valve for blaming their game, Counter Strike for one of the worst things to ever happen on American soil. He should also apologize to the U.S. Government and American tax payers for wasting their time.

You know what the real issue here was? It had nothing to do with video games. It was because of the fact that nobody accepted him. Everyone just kinda ignored him. So he looked up to what the mass media thinks about those who are outcasts. Turns out that they are all violent killers....

Just remember...If you see someone being ignored by everyone, go up to them and talk....it does a LOT of good ; )

So that is pretty conculsive evidence that basketball causes violence in kids then.

Personally i'm not surprised, I've been saying for years that this would happen. Bet you all wish you'd listened to me now, huh??? Rather than sending me off for that psych exam??

Fun Fact: Nowhere in the constitution does it say any old guy can bear arms. It says that you have the right to form militia and dates back to when the british were imminently going to invade, or so it was feared.
Seriosuly, it has so little relevence to today or how people use it to say they have the right to buy AKs in supermarkets its not funny.
