NHL 08 demo skates its way onto the XBLM

Fellow Canadians and ice hockey fans around the globe hurry on over to the XBLM for a special treat. Available right now on the Marketplace is a demo for the soon to be released hockey extravaganza that is NHL 08. The demo is a slim 593MBs, is available to most of the world for download and features some hot Anaheim Ducks versus Ottawa Senators ice hockey action. The game ships September 11th, so give this demo a try before you commit to a purchase and weigh in on whether or not you think this year's NHL installment lives up to your expectations. The TimeShift demo is also available. I haven't seen a post about that...

This snuck on early last night....Pretty decent. I was feeling the NHL 07 demo, but it was pretty limited since it was only a shootout. I really wanted to try a real game. This demo was much better. First time I played, it was a tie and there was a shootout. So it was the best of both worlds. Seems like a solid hockey title.

@1, the timeshift demo is crap. Probably why they didnt mention it. Oh, and Joystiq posted the demo's release yesterday. They probably wanted to get the 'new' news out before double posting

Yeah I didnt enjoy Timeshift =( How can developers make such mistakes like this? Hope they fix the controls and camera because its almost unplayable the way it controls.

I thought the TimeShift controls were ok but the game itself was another run of the mill FPS. The time shifting elements are mildly interesting but it feels so much like a mediocre PC port that I could take it or leave it. It's not worth $60.

this game is hot fire. this might be the season EA Sports wins me back as a hockey fan. 2K Sports has their work cut out for them this year.

I played a bit of NHL 2K6 last night and it dawned on me that I really don't care for 2K's gameplay. I'm really looking forward to trying this demo.

Oh yeah, Madden is the shit too!! Way to go EA!! Finally, re-instating the greatness that once was!!

The NHL08 demo is great... it's actually, well, hockey. Unlike 2k which is just a rush-the-net fest, you can actually have blue line passes, shots from the point, cycling the puck behind the net... nice job EA (and I can't believe I'm saying that).

Mat, I don't know what you're talking about. 2K has been about strategies, passing, setting up and shooting since 2k3! EA just started becoming less "arcady" last year. 07 was a solid game with a ton of problems. 08 will be awesome if they simply fix those glitches. The ability to design and execute your own play sounds great, but could be disappointing if easily exploitable online.
