Stranglehold slips again on PC, PS3
Guy with two guns epic Stranglehold is still struggling to get a grip on the PS3 and PC, with both versions facing delays just as the Xbox 360 version sees completion. Inspector Tequila's seething vendetta against neatly stacked grocery stands begins on the Xbox 360 September 5th (September 14th in Europe), with the PC version now following on September 18th in the US and the 21st in Europe.
Shacknews reports that the PS3 version of the bullet bonanza is now scheduled for release on September 25th, which translates to an imprecise "October" for Europe.

Again... whats the point of having a PS3? All games come late, and multiplatforms game are always better on the 360. Heavenly and Lair are flops.
I dont want to be a troll, really... I just dong get why people buy a PS3... for the Bluray player?
Justice @ Aug 31st 2007 3:20PM
1- Why do you care, you don't have one, nor probally will get one.
2- You're halarious because it seems you do this to get attention.
3- Saying Heavenly Sword is a flop when it didn't come out yet is funny. Are you Professor X, na I say Jean Grey.
4- Ps3 get's the 360 ports because rght now it's easier to develop for the 360. Some devs won't take time to imporove the port and complain more about it. I have links in you want.
5- People buy PS3's to play games same for a 360 owner and Wii owner
* Ppl don't bother replying to him. He wants attention.

Having a console that doesn't have a 30% failure rate is a plus. Then there are games like GT5, FFXIII and MGS4 that are my games of choice. While those games are cooking in the oven I've put Linux on the PS3 for emulators and got the media server stuff to work so I can stream movies from my server to the TV. When I consider the multiplatform games like Stranglehold and ask myself why the PS3, well, I don't mind a couple weeks wait or a blurry texture here or there so long as I don't have to worry about the console going belly up because it got too hot.
Matt B @ Aug 31st 2007 3:24PM
For me, I bought a PS3 for it's great games. Games that don't make it to the PC unlike the good 360 games that do. I also have a nice gaming PC to play the good 360 games on. The PS3 is the centerpiece of my HD entertainment system. Unlike the 360, it is near silent also.
waves @ Aug 31st 2007 4:14PM
Liar definitely looks like a flop, but Heavenly Sword has been getting better than average reviews (not great, but not mediocre). It looks like a fun weekend rental.
Slaziman @ Aug 31st 2007 5:05PM
Fernando come on, you are on Curmeo levels now (I agree though, but I don't troll it around).
Ah well if we are busy anyway:
Either the PS3 game is worse, or it is delayed and looks the same (Madden '08 and GRAW 2 as perfect examples respectively (even though I heard GRAW 2 actually has more frame rate dips and less AA on PS3, but not from reliable sources))
And that's not factoring in the usually better online and things like achievements.
But no worries, devs will soon unlock the power of the CELL! Soon I tell you!
ill trooper @ Aug 31st 2007 5:27PM
I'd try to explain, but I'd rather just play some Warhawk right now...
vidGuy @ Aug 31st 2007 5:28PM
I somewhat agree with you but you definitely approached it like a troll :(
I think there's definitely a point to owning a PS3. It's getting some exclusives and it's a powerful machine. It's helping bring HD movies to the masses. It's the successor to the most successful video game console ever.
I just don't see the point to owning one NOW. For me, the value is not there. When the machine is cheaper, there are more games out, and the machine is cheaper ;), it will be worth owning. If the games come though. I don't buy a console on what it might or might not provide me in a year or two.
Others might see value in it where they don't see value in another console that you might own. What's the problem with that? If a gamer is willing to spend that kind of cash on a few mediocre exclusives that his/her business.
bearattack79 @ Aug 31st 2007 10:34PM
PS3 no games = Less of a failure rate.
quickshade @ Sep 2nd 2007 3:06PM
so sony is thinking this game is going to save them from Halo 3. I'm all for a good PS3 game to counter Halo 3 but this just seems like an embarrassment.
Triforceowner @ Aug 31st 2007 3:07PM
What makes this kind of delaying happen? Did they find some game killing bug at the last minute or something?
severian00 @ Aug 31st 2007 11:47PM
They need extra time to press all those copies of Hard Boiled on Bluray with the special coating so they don't get rot.
LAboy @ Aug 31st 2007 3:12PM
This game doesn't look all that good imo.
qbix @ Aug 31st 2007 3:15PM
Crysis demo for PC gamers, Stranglehold for PS3 owners and helmets for us with a 360. Everyone happy.
xXFenixKnight13Xx @ Aug 31st 2007 3:24PM

Will be forgotten quick. Fernando Rocker FTW! lol!
Ppl get mad when you state the truth bro just leavem alone. They are delusional.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 31st 2007 3:31PM
Exactly... i dont know why they are mad. Im just telling the truth:
"All games come late" True
"Game are always better on the 360" Check reviews
"Heavenly and Lair are flops" IGN Lair: 4.9, Heavenly 7 (Not very AAA titles like the PS3 Fanboys keep saying since December last year)
I mean, Im not lying, Im just saying things that PS3 fanboys already know, but they dont accept.
Now, Heavenly and Lair are flops, since december they are saying" just wait until lair and heavenly and bla bla... now they are saying the same with Uncharted and Ratchet... I accept that those looks great (graphically) but c'mon! Ratchet is fun for about 2 hours, then the game is boring, repetitive and extremely easy.
Lest see if Uncharted and Ratchet doesnt flop... just remember, graphics doesnt make a good game... Lair and Heavenly are the perfect examples.
NexTech @ Aug 31st 2007 4:13PM
"Just remember, graphics doesnt make a good game... Lair and Heavenly are the perfect examples."
Best quote of the day.
lessbiasedthanmost @ Aug 31st 2007 4:14PM
"All games come late" True"
Delays are a good thing for games, though it pisses off the populous, you get a game that is much more stable most of the time. If only Rock* could figure that out with GTA.
"Game are always better on the 360" Check reviews"
Ha, reviews are, at best, a set of guidelines and that's ONLY if you have the same taste in games as the reviewer. Reviews by magazines/sites are just about the worst way to pick a game because they have their own agendas. Wait til it comes out, rent the game, and play it yourself, there's the only review worth listening to.
The phrase "AAA title(s)" is getting old, it's like saying "check out the A-list of movies". In all honesty, "AAA titles" are the most overhyped/overrated games imaginable, Halo2, Final Fantasy XII, (I'm gonna get killed for this one)* Legend of Zelda: "Insert subtitle here". All of which were overhyped to hell, but sucked when they came out.
The only thing I agree with you on here Fernando, is that good graphics != good game.
*Please note that I'm of the opinion that EVERY LoZ game is the same damn thing, so insert your own Nintendo franchise if you must.
Fernando Rocker @ Aug 31st 2007 4:19PM
"Game are always better on the 360" Check reviews"
I meant multiplatform games
IslandLife @ Aug 31st 2007 4:24PM
@ Fernando
Gamespot gave Tiger Woods 08 on the PS3 a higher score than the 360. The 360 had more bugs. And this is a game from EA who is supposedley focusing more on 360 development. :(
Slaziman @ Aug 31st 2007 5:11PM
Come on, every LoZ game is the same? I understand if you don't like the series, but to say every LoZ game is the same is a bold statement, how does LttP compare to Wind Waker exactly? The only Zelda game that I think didn't live up to the hype is Twilight Princess.
Triforceowner @ Sep 1st 2007 4:00PM
Slaziman - I'd say Twilight Princess probably didn't live up to the hype, because it was in developement for too long and appeared to have drastic gameplay changes mid developement. (The expansive field is one example.)
xXFenixKnight13Xx @ Aug 31st 2007 3:26PM

wonder why....................

Try war hawk ... it makes up for Lair's disappointment ... and no one has to be psychic to understand that Heavenly Sword has been reviewed by reviewers who get early copies. Both games are somewhat disappointing, but hey, War Hawk has been good to me while my 360 is in the shop ... and when Stranglehold arrives with Hardboiled, all the fanboys can rub it in the 360ers faces
FraGNeM @ Aug 31st 2007 6:19PM
True, PS3 owners do get a hi-def Hard Boiled movie w/ their special edition of Stranglehold (who knows how many they'll have, though).
That said, I agree with Fernando's point of PS3 fans running the phrase "just wait for [insert game here]..." into the ground. I'm getting tired of waiting, personally.
PS3 may be worth the investment in the future, but there's little excuse for having one over a 360 at the moment.

Whenever a game gets a short delay like this, it gets knocked down a notch on my hype-0-meter (see: Lair). Either give it a healthy delay and fix everything (see: GTA IV), or put it out already. When they do this it reeks of a unfinished game being rushed to make a release date.
Grindstone @ Aug 31st 2007 4:15PM
I'd buy Warhawk if it came to the 360, I mean, I play Blazing Angels (yeah, I'm a sucker for that genre).
Yet another delay for the PS3. It must be really hard to unlock that "power" just so the games look and play as good as the 360 or PC version. Although, it seems like each have their drawbacks; delays, RRODs, and upgrade costs. In the end, it works out evenly.
waves @ Aug 31st 2007 4:40PM
It looks like they put all their efforts into getting the 360 version out early enough to avoid the Halo 3 juggernaut. Notice that the PS3 version comes out the same day as Halo 3.

Mmm, SiteSeer, that's some good pro-PS3 trolling you've got memorized there. Please pull out the Final Fantasy and MGS cards out of the same old stained pocket. That thing's gotta be crusty by now. And are people really that gassed about GT5?
Here's what I predict...all these games, maybe...*maybe* with the exception of MGS4 will come and go and make the same waves that other supposedly great PS3 games like Motorstorm, Lair, and Warhawk made. That is, ripples. Sony got severly ganked this time around. As far as that whole "30%" failure rate overplayed card goes, you know what? No one actually cares. People will still buy the 360 and people whose 360 have died will happily get theirs replaced rather than shell out a few hundred dollars more for an as yet unproven system. That's right, I said "unproven." Can you dig it? I knew that you could. The PS3 might very well be "more stable" than a 360, but so far all I've seen it do is have its games either delayed repeatedly, ported off into crappy versions, try to cure a disease, and what's that other thing...oh yeah, the Second Life/MySpace/Achievements ripoff thingy called Home. Golf claps all around for that stunning piece o' hardware.
But hey, go ahead and pull out the R:FOM and Blu-Ray cards out while you're at it as well. These be desperate times for Sony fans.
JuJu @ Aug 31st 2007 11:24PM
Heh, I find it funny How Xbox 360 Fanboys Bag about How many "geat" games They have out, And Which MultiPlatform Game is Better on the 360. Truth is, We PS3 owners dont care. Whether Madden got nerfed To a 30 Frames Per seconds gameplay, Or Whether Gears Of War, and BioShock are better Than most Of our games Or Another multi Platform Game got delayed. We'll Wait as much as we can To end up with a game We can enjoy and Not worry about multiple games or our system Crashing in the middle in An important moment of the Game. As far as our "Horrible" Exclusives go, Play the game Rather than Relying On Reviewers. IGN reviewers, And Gamespot's Opinion is the same As any fanboy's Opinion.
And Thanky You, I will enjoy My "Delayed Again, Xbox 306 Version Is better Than My PS3 Version, Weak lineup Piece of Whatever you wanna call it" PS3. Because In the end I'm Happy with the Purchase I made, And I know for sure Sony Developers will come through and Show The Lazy Developers Of todays gaming world How to make a smooth game. All That is needed is Simply A small Pint of patience just As you Xbox 360 Fans brag about when Your system goes Brick on you. So it all evens out.
Slaziman @ Sep 1st 2007 8:57AM
Retarded use of capitalization aside, your post was plain stupid, RRoD has been fixed in the Zephyr models and the 360's sent in for repair now are getting an extra heatsink installed, in a few months we will never hear of it again. At least the 360 has to be gone into repairs to stop being played on for 3 weeks, the PS3 stops being played for 3 weeks and longer for other reasons... better multiplatform games, better exclusives, cheaper, I don't know why you are happy with your purchase.
JuJu @ Sep 1st 2007 2:31PM
Really? I bought my PS3 back In July. I have played unlimited gaming hours of Ninja Gaiden, NBA 2k7, and Resistance with my friends for 2 Months straight now. I havn't seen a slight problem with my PS3. You on the other hand don't even own a PS3, so why talk? So what if the New 360's have the new heatsink, some are still breaking down after a quick replacement. Now I'm not gonna lie, The 360 isn't a bad system, it's quite a good system. But to bash the PS3 when you don't even own one or don't even know the features it contain is just plain fanboyish. Let me ask you a question. What games did the 360 have at launch? Yea not too many to name. Give the PS3 it's time people. It's still not even a year yet, and you guys are already making it seem likes its the worst system out there. The games are coming, but I'm sure you guys are well aware as most 360 fanboys are considering there always worried about our calendar launch.
As for Slaziman, Put your money where your mouth is. I dare you, give the system a try. Other than that, don't talk before you critcize something you don't own or can't afford. Don't let it come to the point where someone puts you in the little hole you belong in and makes you look like a stupid fanboy. Have a good day.
