Just to clarify, Paramount and Dreamworks Animation did NOT defect, they have been paid by whoever (don't think it was ever released who, however MS said it wasn't them) to only release HD-DVDs for then next 18 months, not that they will not develop and produce, nor never support blu-ray again. It was all about the money.

"We're not trying to make this seem as big a deal as the Paramount/Dreamworks defection"

You would be right there all they do is produce high end distribution systems, its not like they actually make or release any movies ;-)

indefinite just means until HD-DUD fails and Raptor did the math and realized HD-DUD only has 18 months left ;-)

@4

Indefinate just means a unknown amount of time. Or in their case, a undisclosed amount of time. (i.e. 18 months which the 150 mil payed for)

They aren't going to go and say, we are only supporter the lesser selling media for 18 months, then going back to BluRay! That would just be stupid.

Blu still wins. Only difference is for 18 months I wont be renting/buying and Paramount movies.

I think this is great. I always liked what Xperinet did and doing it with Blu-ray is even better. Blu-ray really opens up the possibilites.

I also have a topic going on about this on my blog at http://www.nahiyan.com/blog

MIRV was the UK producer of Stardust, so at least there's hope of a region free BD release of that flick now, just have to order it in euros or pounds, which sucks with the currently dimished dollar.
