Marvel vs. Capcom for digital download hopes Marvel exec.
In an interview with Gamasutra, Marvel's VP of interactive media Justin Lambros says he hopes to see Marvel vs. Capcom make its way to digital download. The main focus of the story for Gamasutra is supposed to be about EA's new Marvel Fighting Game, but following EA's aptly named Rise of the Imperfects, which was far beyond imperfect, you'll bear with us as we don't get excited about that and focus on Marvel vs. Capcom.
Lambros answers Gamasutra's questions about Marvel vs. Capcom appearing on Xbox Live by saying, "I'm a huge 2D fighting fan ... the Marvel vs. Capcom stuff has a definite close place in my heart, so we definitely wanna see that stuff live on." He says that there are no deals in place, but they may be considering it. Maybe when Capcom has Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (with a side of cole slaw) completed, they can get to work updating Marvel vs. Capcom, let's keep Udon working.

Dear Capcom,
Please do this.
ranova @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:39PM
Capcom, a TON of us are MvC2 fans. Hell, just reading this made me bust out my dreamcast and play it. You dont need to do a whole HD remix for this game (but would be damn nice), but put it on live with xbox live play.
Step 1: Port MvC2 with online multiplayer
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!
bounchfx @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:21PM
uh, I think it goes more like this:
Step 1: Port MvC2 to xbla with online multiplayer
Step 2: Profit!
ranova @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:50PM
youve obviously never seen that done before
mkoracer @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:31PM
usually it's done where there is no tangible connection between making fat dollars and the previous step.
FK @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:44PM
LOL @ bounchfx
Vegnagun @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:03PM
what's step 2 again?
bounchfx @ Sep 4th 2007 1:36AM
"youve obviously never seen that done before"
Step 1: assume silly things about people on the intarwebs
Step 2: try to poke fun at them
Step 3: ????
Step 4: profit...!?!
Miles @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:42PM
I heard awhile ago something like this wasn't possible because of the license agreement with EA .
But how about the BC team get back to work on the conversion. The game is completely unplayable in its current state.
Peaefuloutrage @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:24PM
Well, Konami doesn't have the TMNT license anymore, but they made it happen for the TMNT arcade game for $5 on live. They'll just add another logo on the screen (EA's).
Oh, and if they ever port another arcade game, leave the option of continues and so forth in the settings instead of automatic infinite continues.
BPM @ Sep 4th 2007 12:00AM
I thought Konami has the license to the CARTOONS, but Ubisoft had the the license for the MOVIE only?
Word of the street. @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:46PM
Wow MvsC 2 for the xlive would be awesome and I hope the achievements doesn't involve online because that game is so Broken,Hell I don't know what the hell is going on most of the time.
Then again I'm a newb in MvsC2.
Dragod @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:48PM
I remember playing this with my friend on his PlayStation 2 when his snake got out of its cage. Hah... It was an excuse for him to stop the game when I was kicking his ass with Spider-Man.
ThornedVenom @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:49PM
Man, I remember that game so well. I was so addicted to it that I swear that I actually got blisters on my thumbs 5 times in a row. And that didn't stop me from playing. And come on, who DOESN'T like ultimate showdowns? **cue in that music from the Flash animation**
WHO DO I HAVE TO KILL TO GET THIS GAME REMADE IN HD WITH MOAR CHARACTERS?!!!
(PS: Videogames don't kill people. Craving gamers on the other hand, FUCK YES.)
FrankTheCrank @ Sep 3rd 2007 7:53PM
Any of those Capcom fighters that came out after they started redesigning the characters were just a pleasure to play. The graphics, the sound, the animations and the controls. Just top notch stuff. I was never a SSFII Turbo Edition fan....but anything after that was just gold. The Saturn made a great home for that stuff, especially with the 4MB cart from JP.
C. T. @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:10PM
MVC2 has always been my favorite 2D fighter of all time. I echo the others who can attribute blisters directly to this game. An XBLA version would be a no-brainer purchase even without graphical updates or Live play.
frrs @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:11PM
MvC has always been 1st on my wish list for XBLA.
Add online play and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
F1 @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:14PM
If you love America, Capcom, you WILL do this.
Norty @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:15PM
I would love nothing more. This is hands down my favorite fighting game, and if it came to Live, I would buy it the very second it showed up.
Please, please PLEASE let Capcom do this.
DangerMouse @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:15PM
MvC doesn't need a graphical upgrade. It's fine the way it is. MvC2 on the other hand looks shitty, thanks to high res backgrounds with low res characters. Before they pump MvC out, they need to get XmenVsSF & MSHvsSF out.
Kye @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:18PM
This is not only the best SF-related game, or 2D fighting game.
This IS the best fighting game. Ever.
A LIVE version, to me, is worth the cost of the 360 and a year on LIVE.
samfish @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:59PM
I think I'd have to concur.
Kye @ Sep 4th 2007 2:44AM
To each their own, man who speaks through naked lady.
BPM @ Sep 4th 2007 2:58AM
Concur = agree
LAboy @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:20PM
Please let this come true. I love all the Marvel vs. Capcom games. Seeing them on Live Arcade would make me and the rest of the fans extremely happy.
muppetmeth @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:24PM
Yes please, on every console.
Matt_M @ Sep 3rd 2007 8:24PM

NintendoFanbot @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:00PM
Hire me for MvC HD REMIX!!!!
I draw pretty well!
+1337 Points for getting a Hyper Combo with Dan's Premium Sign
Night Elve @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:41PM
Hey! Dan is not that bad! ... Well actually it is.
NintendoFanbot @ Sep 3rd 2007 11:42PM
Getting a Hyper Combo Finish with Dan's Premium Sign is the greatest thing ever.
To be honest about MvC2, however...
--ELEVATOR MUSIC...in the most epic fighting game ever??
--lots of recycled sprites...
--you couldn't tell what the announcer was saying ever
But if all the sprites were redrawn EVEN in a resolution comparable to SVC CHAOS, that would be awesome.
MvC1 at least made up for it with new characters and character-specific music.
A Vs. Collection for Wii would be hella awesome too. :)
The Boo @ Sep 4th 2007 9:11AM
How about that song? "I wanna take a poo poo ride"
Jawmuncher @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:54PM
This would own
SuMtOnE @ Sep 3rd 2007 9:55PM
hey sounds good but remake this one too Capcom Vs SNK 2 for ps3 n xbox360... i prefer that one...
Ska Oreo @ Sep 4th 2007 4:19AM
NOOOO!!!!!
GregZ @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:02PM
I sold my XBOX the day Capcom revealed they were pulling LIVE support from MVC2.
I can not say emphatically enough how badly I would love MVC2 (NOT MVC, please don't waste our time with that version) on Live Arcade. Aside from Smash Bros Melee, there is no fighter I enjoy playing more. Feel free to update the character art to high-res to match the nice backgrounds. Guilty Gear did it years ago, let's not be lazy here.
Please Capcom, for me. You don't even have to change the insufferable soundtrack. I want to be taken for a ride - online.
Nate @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:03PM
MvC2 for download OMGHaxOrz!!!
Dapper Dan @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:23PM
i would easily pay $100+ for this.
sambo @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:28PM
you could buy a used dreamcast and a copy of the game for $100 bucks.
Dapper Dan @ Sep 4th 2007 2:51AM
dreamcast looks like poo on hdtv though
Matt_M @ Sep 4th 2007 11:38AM
DC does not, however, look like poo on devices with VGA inputs. Invest in those extra cables and it's a world of difference.
Dapper Dan @ Sep 4th 2007 11:54AM
don't get me wrong, i LOVED the dreamcast. but i am a 360 man now. lol
sambo @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:28PM
oh hell yes.
Shadow Hog @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:54PM
I'd love it if EA dropped the license, Capcom picked it up, and then promptly made a new game for this series. Aside from the fact that'd probably be the first time I can actually get my hands on the series (despite owning a DC, I honestly have never bothered... >_>), I'd love to see what random Capcom characters they'd pull out for a new installment, seeing as they were already scraping pretty deep into that barrel with such awesome choices as Tron Bonne and Servbots... I'd practically kill to see obvious choices like Phoenix Wright or perhaps more obscure ones like Radd Spencer (the Bionic Commando) get in there, if only for the lulz.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Sep 3rd 2007 11:00PM
Heck yes! I hope this releases! I would like them to have Hi-res characters(2D not 3D). And a few new fighters like
-Dante from DMC
-Chris and Leon from RE
etc.
Other new super heroes from Marvel.
YES!
ZenGaijin @ Sep 3rd 2007 11:07PM
Step
1. Release "VS" collection for 360 and PS3 including: Marvel vs Capcom 1/2, X-men vs Streetfighter, Marvel Superheros vs Streetfighter, Children of the Atom.
2.??????
3. INSANE PROFIT!!!!
Nate @ Sep 4th 2007 7:41AM
rightness!!!
fyreblazer @ Sep 4th 2007 2:28PM
I approve this comment, I'd be first in line for this VS. Collection on any system.
Justice @ Sep 3rd 2007 11:29PM
This game is freaking awesome. Brings back good memories. I usually hate fighting games, but classics like these are special. :D
Rabite @ Sep 3rd 2007 11:32PM
They should do Marvel Super Heroes also.
