Congrats Sony-2 Slugs back to back! Lair requiring having to wave a brick around in the air for 12 hrs to bring the beauty to life and Warhawk, half-arsed at best with NO SINGLEPLAYER-when you geniuses are ready to bring out a normal game without all the frikkin gimmikry-I will blow the dust off of my dormant PS3 and commence gaming. After all, I'm done playing all the b/c PS2 games.zzzzzz.

Interesting... So when spotty motion controls are used for the Wii its the pinnacle of innovation, but when Sony does something similar its crap. I own Lair, yes the controls take some getting used to but I don't mind it. Y'know why? Because I like a little challenge in my games. They offer training courses first thing in the game to try at your leisure whether you need help with flying, targeting, etc. You sharpen your skills you take down huge armies, it's fun. I don't expect Wii owners who need their hands held or Xbox 360 users who need an achievement for killing 3 enemies to understand.

There's a difference between a "challenge" and a "broken game," and these review sites who happen to play games on all systems, including motion-controlled Wii titles, say this game is broken. And I bet crazy camera angles in the latest Sonic game are just for some good old-fashioned hardcore difficulty, right?

I was going to post something about just how humorous it is the reviewers had no major issues with the controls at E3 & now it's the game-breaking item...then I noticed this, like any post which paints could be interpreted as a negative towards either system, has become nothing but another flame war. Hope you realize someday how much of your life you wasted arguing about such trivial things...more likely you'll just graduate on to arguing about which german car manufacturer is better.

Can't we just drop the whole issue?

Sure some fanboys did talk about how Lair was going to be this super awesome game that would make people go pick up a PS3 just to play, but the way I see it is that the fanboys know who they are and it's just less ammo in the fanboy pea-shooter.

So, why not drop the issue and focus on more important things like how for the most part the Wii and Xbox 360 doesn't suck as much as the PS3.

Oh man...did I think that out loud?

I don't see how some of you Wii fanboys think that the Wii is "eating everybody's soup". It's not the "console" that makes the console, it's the "games" that make the console.

As of now, the 360 has sold more software than the Wii or PS3 has combined. I'm not going to name the list of AAA titles that are available for the 360, cuz I don't feel like. I think that all of you already know which titles I'm talking about.

But if you don't believe me, I'll list them for you if you want.

It might be that whole "one year earlier than the competition" thing that gave the 360 more time to sell games...
But you still can't deny that right now, the top-selling games are Wii and DS games since they both tap into the casual gaming market more so than the 360. Plus, even with a year ahead of it, the Wii is quickly catching up to the 360 in the States. Oh, and before "OHH NIN FANBOY!" I got my Wii and 360 all snuggled up next to each other and love both systems. Funny thing is, I had to send my Wii for repairs while my 360, which I've had for over 2 years, still has not RRoD on me...

Every time another crappy game for the PS3 is released, Blu-Ray movie sales go up slightly. It's all part of Sony's vision. Embrace it.

This is hilarious. Before Lair comes out the PS nation says "it will be awesome". A few reviews come out saying it sucks and they say "wait for more reviews, you'll see". Then all the reviews come out and they say "Lair isn't as bad as they make it out to be".

I'm not trying to sound like a biased puke, but honestly, how can you PS3 owners be pleased with this? Warhawk was a mediocre game, Lair was a flop, Heavenly Sword is getting decent reviews, but nothing like it was expected to get. These are Sony's big guns guys. These are supposed to be games that prove WHY the PS3 is worth buying. They aren't supposed to be 6, 7, or even 8/10 games. These are supposed to be top notch games that get rave reviews. How can you be comfortable with your purchase?

Like I said, I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy, but if I owned a PS3, I would be selling it right about now and buying a 360 until next year. I for one wouldn't sit around for 2 years while Sony pumps out mediocre games waiting for games like MGS4 or FF13. There are WAY to many great games on other systems to be enjoyed in the meantime.

It's hard to deny that this is a pretty sorry showing for some of the PS3's biggest titles. To make things worse, I recall there being a lot of frustrations with Uncharted the last time a large number of people go to have some time with that game. Mostly with the controls and camera, I believe.

There's a damn real possibility that the only good game the PS3 will really be getting this year is Ratchet & Clank. Not exactly a game that's going to move consoles...

Anyway, Factor 5 should go back to Nintendo. At least they didn't make a bunch of crap with them.

Actually in the last Joystiq Uncharted hands-on they stated:"Control problems and camera issues were two of the biggest complaints Andrew Yoon had when he played Uncharted at E3 and thankfully we can report that those problems have already largely been fixed"

well, I was looking forward to this game but am now definitely renting first. am too busy with Bioshock and MP:3 right now anyways...and did the Reviews get pushed too quickly? If there was a learning curve for the Previewed version, what happened? And I'd definitely like to see analog control options for any game that is motion-sensing-enabled (and that goes for the Wii, too!!). The SixAxis was NOT good for MotorStorm, either.

and Shaggitarius-
PS3 has very little going for it--.stop trying to defend its faults--just because MORE games got higher review scores doesn't mean that anyone wants to actually PLAY all those games--and how many of those games were multi-system releases, anyways??

MotorStorm = no local multiplayer/splitscreen = 3/10
NinjaGaiden = been there, done that twice already on my xbox
R:FoM is probably the ONLY game worth buying, aside from WarHawk--but too bad Sony screwed people over on the d/l version, and the retail price sucks b/c I don't want/need BlueTooth headset...

Not really interested in HS--just want my FinalFantasy games---and LittleBigPlanet. Until then I'll be catching up on my PS2 games I missed out on, sans rumble. Long term Sony'll be okay, but I was hoping for a lot more in the first year of their NextGen gaming console than just a BD-Rom player.

so c'mon Sony---NEXT!

I just want to say that IGN pulls this BS all the time.

I trust their reviews but...

Very often when they preview a game they will say "The game is close to perfect. It has a couple issues but those will be fixed by release." This is code for RUN FOR YOUR LIVES THIS GAME BLOWS.

Often you will read IGN previews, that have a good impression, and the game gets a 3 from them next week. Don't trust the previews, they always do that. Just trust your instinct and videos, and wait for the final review.

Wow it never ceases to amaze me how pathetic fanboys are. Especially the xbox 360 crowd, but then again going by xbox live experiences I shouldn;t be surprised it's just as bad on the web as it is in onlin games.

I've been playing Warhawk for nearly a week and it's the best online experience I ever had.

Warhawk looks like it would be fun, but I don't think it's right to charge $40 for an "online" only game. There not going to move very many copies of that game making it online only. I know plenty of people that have ps3's but no internet connection.

I'm not knocking Warhawk, I haven't played it. I'm just trying say that it's been nearly a year, and Sony only has a couple of games that have gotten good reviews (not counting games that are multiplatform). I would have expected at least one title to be a console mover by now. I think a lot of people thought that Resistance would be it but it doesn't look like it's doing much (I played resistance......wasn't really all that good.)

And this will hereby be known as the "Warhawk Defense." From now on, whenever anyone says anything bad about another PS3 game, y'all can always just come back with "Well, Warhawk is fun!" Sure, it doesn't make the previous game-in-question any better...but it certainly helps to justify that expensive PS3 purchase, doesn't it?

You know I don't even read reviews for games anymore. Like many other media sources the people writing the articles have become so out of touch with reality that they become completely biased based on thier opinions alone. They no longer try to be impartial, but blast something because they think that due to thier extensive experience playing thousands of games for a few minutes of time, or completeing 5 games in a single sitting for reviews they know how to make a game better than the developer. That and it seems like every reviewer is biased towards FPS gorefests. It's like the more violent a game is the better score it gets.

I can read 100 reviews saying that Bioshock is the end all be all of gaming and I am missing out on one of the best gaming experiences ever and still will never play the game. When I saw the preview of a Big Daddy drilling through the players arm I thought, I just don't want to see that along with a whole lot of the rest of the game.

If all I did was play games for a living I'd probably rip every game beacause they just wouldn't be fun.

I rented Lair and the game isn't bad. The motion controls are meant to feel like you are using reigns to push and pull the Dragon. A dragon wouldn't turn on a dime or react instantly to subtle control movements. The game plays like it would if you were riding a huge eagle. It takes getting used to. For all of the people who say that you should be able to pick up a game and not have to learn conrtols, how long did it take you to get used to using a gamepad for a FPS? I bet it took a long time to be able to aim with any accuracy. Going back to a mouse would've been a lot easier.

A lot of reviewers are also extremely biased against the PS3 and want to take an active role in bringing down the system. If they brimg the gaming goliath down it will prove thier influence over the gaming masses and cement the positions of power they wish to hold.

In the end you can play nearly all of the 360 must haves on a PC and have a better gameplay experience. That doesn't make the 360 a better console in my book. It makes it a cheap PC gaming knockoff.

The PS3 actually has a very good library of games for its first market year. Better than the 360's first year and better than the Wii. I love my Wii but its more for the VC than anything else. I will get Metroid 3 but probably pass on Mario Galaxy. The PS3 is a very worthwhile system. I can play good games, watch HD movies, upscale DVDs better than other players, hold my MP3 collection, and use my PSP wherever I go to watch movies and play music off of my home system and not have to worry about the space limitations of the 1GB memory stick I have for it.

It doesn't matter if games are fun what matters is who owns them. If someone is insecure about their choice in a gaming console they will attack another game on an opposing system to make themselves feel beter for a ridiculously small flaw. Often times this is leveled at Sony. Unfortunately for the competition Sony is third the only place they can go is up. That is simple business. I still own my original (launch) PSX and PS2, I have nothing against the company Sony) and often defend them since people apparently have decided that Live and Virtual Console is the be all end all. Lair has low rez ground textures because they stupidly thought people would be worried about the battle they were in and not how well the textures blend from grassland to coast. For a first gen game I think it looks pretty good especially since its ceiling isnt well known (see PC based Xbox). Fear has low res floor textures as well. World of Warcraft has very obviously low poly models so that it can run on the majority of pcs. Does that make it less fun to see unnatural creases in a murlock's face? Now I won't dare comment on the graphics on Wii Miis or the flawlessness that is Halo, GoW, or Bullet Witch. Yes the camera has shifted two whole times playing Lair I'd rather have a free range camera then a locked one thanks. But what do I know I play games to have fun not to pick apart the lack of bezier curves, lack of aliasing etc. Call me old fashioned.

I dunno about not trusting reviews... but i sure don't trust Previews these days.

You hardly ever read a bad preview.. then 3 days later the review comes out and they bash it for the things they loved in the preview.

They really should have to put "PAID ADVERTISEMENT" on the top of all previews.

Question: What type of idiocy follows contradictory opinions?

I for one have every intention of playing Lair for myself (just as I've done for every game I thought interesting) I will not rely on the words of the unaccountable, reviewers spend months telling us why games are gonna rock then they pull a 180 without ever saying, "We were wrong". It is sickening how ignorant gamers are, irreputable individuals tell you what is awesome and you just nod and say, "If the internet said it then it must be true!" Fools....

I got this game a couple days ago despite reading all of the negative reviews. While I fully admit they 'should have' given us the option of analog controls, what I can tell you is that once you get the hang of the control with the sixaxis, you'll have fun with the game. If you keep getting gutter balls on Wii bowling you might call it crap until you get used to the control, then it makes sense. Same with 'Lair'. If you are a PS3 owner just rent it and give it a try. It's not the best flight game ever made, but it's certainly not the worst, or as bad as the major reviews claim.
