Play Lair on PSP with remote play
If you're wanting to enjoy Lair's gorgeous visuals on an itty-bitty screen (or more likely, you're just wanting to play the game with an analog stick instead of the much-maligned motion controls), it has been confirmed that the PlayStation 3 title supports remote play via the PSP, with credit going to Dubbedinenglish of the PlayStation forums for first making the discovery.
The "full" game is playable in this manner, although some actions can't be performed on the PSP's control scheme, making some parts of the dragon romp impassable. Video proof embedded after the break.

So now you can feel like killing yourself on the go, SWEET.
Miles Pulsford @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:11PM
except.... you cant actually play it on the go.
Miles Pulsford @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:13PM
oops nevermind forget i said anything.
Night Elve @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:45PM
I'm pretty sure Fernando will come to this thread and will tell us how great Nintendo Wii is and will tell us for like 100 time that Metroid is a AAA title.
bm @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:41PM
The bitterness just -drips- off that post.
tpnmvz @ Sep 3rd 2007 5:33PM
Sounds like someone is jealous here!
Don't worry, you can still sell your $600 PS3 half-price to afford a Nintendo Wii with Metroid Prime 3!
Vegnagun @ Sep 3rd 2007 5:43PM
Night Elves the only thing I hate more than Blood Elves. Gtfo out my warsong.
Word of the street. @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:46PM
The word "Half-Assed" comes into mind.
Really this is freaking useless, why in the hell you would want to play Lair in the PSP having the PS3 near?,I mean if the PSP controls were better but it doensn't have the R2,L2 buttons.
Also it only works having a Ps3 near so as I said, you have the PS3 near.
PSP to Ps3 I understand but Ps3 to PSP?,What for?.
Shagittarius @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:52PM
Word on the street you can play Lair on the PSP from anywhere you can get an internet connection. As long as the game is in your PS3 at home.
This is only the begining, I'm sure the ultimate goal is to make most if not all PS3 games playable on the PSP.
Remember when I told you guys this was gonna happen at the PS3s launch? I did.
Chimp @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:00PM
Remote play allows you to play games on your ps3 via a psp through wi-fi....you don't have to be near it, you could be at work or anywhere provided you have wi-fi internet access.
I think that sums it up?
Spyke3k @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:58PM
You can acces your PS3 Remote Play function via the internet, so no... you dont have to be near the PS3.
And yes, it isn't really that usefull (that is why Sony didn't even promote it), but it's still better to have it than not to.
Now if Sony would be promoting the title for having such an "extra", I would tell them to either implement things that work 100%, or just let it be.
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:14PM
I don't know about you guys, but the only time I've seen a Wi-Fi hotspot was at a McDonalds a billion miles from my home.
Q: Does the PS3 have to be on? Or does it go on automatically when you try to connect to it with your PS3?
This could be pretty cool, specially for RPG's, doing some grinding while at school (could bring Wi-Fi usb dongle and connect to any PC) =)
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:15PM
Second PS3 should be PSP*
hvnlysoldr @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:22PM
Times are weird on two of these comments.
Word of the street. @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:29PM
“I’m sure in some planet your strategy is considered powerful but your weakling is, this is Earth”.
Basically to play lair you need a Wi-fi connection and your Ps3 at home must be turned on I guess.
Ok some questions:
In order to play lair in the Ps3 someone must be in the house because Who is going to be so stupid to leave their house on a vacation and leave the Ps3 turn on?, now If someone wants to play lair in the same PS3 what? ,Do they need to take you out of the game or both persons can play Lair at the same time in different levels?.
Shagittarius @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:42PM
Sony has already mentioned they are implementing a 'Wake on Lan' function so that you can wake up your PS3 remotely.
I don't think its been implemented yet but it has been promised.
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:56PM
@Shagi
So we can still look forward to 4D graphics?
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:04PM
Imagine if the 360 had this, you would be playing a game and suddenly it would shut down, then you get back home to a dim red glow... muahahahaha!
Word of the street. @ Sep 3rd 2007 6:08PM
Slaziman,I think you just found the reason why MS don't want to get involved into handhelds Lmao.
J/K,but is a funny scene.
Strike Man @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:54PM
"or, more likely you're just wanting to play the game with an analog stick instead of the much-maligned motion controls"
Apparently some of the peeps at GAF claim you can use a wired USB pad to get analog control as well.
http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/08/hate-lairs-moti.html
I haven't had a chance to try this myself yet, so I can't comment on its veracity or if it will work with other wireless non-SIXAXIS PS3 controllers.
Dopple Boppler @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:55PM
That's a really, really cool feature. I don't have a PSP or PS3, but anyone who denies that it's nifty is a monster of epic proportions. Now all they need to do is use this feature for games that aren't getting critically panned and we'll be good to go~
Guybrush Threepwood @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:58PM
I'll do Fernando's job for him:
This feature would be better if you could play a better game on it. Oh wait, you can't because all PlayStation games suck lololol
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 3rd 2007 2:59PM
Well done!
bm @ Sep 3rd 2007 5:11PM
I'm sorry, but in your supposed sarcasm I think you pretty much hit the nail right on the head there, sir! :)
Vegnagun @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:01PM
At least PS3 fanboys have MGS4. If that fails I'll be sad because MGS is a great franchise, it can't fail on the PS3 right??? right??? I hope not.
Night Elve @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:07PM
It will not fail since it born on a Sony Machine.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:15PM
mmmm... Metal Gears was on a Nintendo platform way before than in a Sony platform. Noob.
Shagittarius @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:17PM
Yeah Metal Gear for the NES was an Torture/Shitfest as well. Yes I beat it.
Noshino @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:21PM
Fernando, do a little research before saying something like that, it makes you look bad...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_gear
Noshino @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:22PM
I forgot to add "Noob"
hvnlysoldr @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:25PM
Because all of a sudden MSX is a powerhouse in the console world and history. That's like saying the Hyper Scan isn't a seventh generation console.
Night Elve @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:30PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear
Get your facts right, Metal Gear born on the MSX.
N00b!
vidGuy @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:32PM
haha, yeah that was a pretty bad fanboy slip, Fernando.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:42PM
I never, absolutely never said that Metal Gear born on the Nes. I said that Metal Gear was on Nintendo before that Sony.
So, why Im wrong, if Im telling te true?
Night Elve @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:48PM
No you are not. Get your facts right Metal Gear BORN on the MSX (Sony Home Computer).
And by BORN I mean it was first on a Sony Platform.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:51PM
MSX was a type of computer from several companies. It was not sony property. Noob.
vidGuy @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:52PM
"I said that Metal Gear was on Nintendo before that Sony."
Yes, you did, and you were wrong. Sony manufactured some MSX systems.
Fernando Rocker @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:53PM
"No you are not. Get your facts right Metal Gear BORN on the MSX (Sony Home Computer)."
Fucking wrong! The Wii Virtual Console even have MSX games to download.... stupid noob.
Ska Oreo @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:53PM
Fernando's right!!!
Winner FERNANDO!!
Slaziman @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:58PM
Sony made some laptops, so all laptops are Sony property! :@
Melting_Snowman @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:21PM
Funny how this "Sony Platform" of Night Elve's actually ran operating system made by Microsoft.
...not to mention that it was a standard - like several people have already pointed out, and Sony wasn't particularly big player in it. But hey, this is the Internet, who needs facts. :)
Vegnagun @ Sep 3rd 2007 5:48PM
I wasn't saying it's gonna fail even if it sounded like it. MGS is an established franchise, one that I've loved since I demoed MGS on PS1. MGS4, at least to me, is looking a bit weird with the flying metal cows, but when has MGS not been over the top? It might be worth it for me to get a PS3, just because I love MGS so much, but 600$ might not be worth it.
blooh @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:07PM
they should port crystal chronicles to the ps3 for this feature, lol
raj @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:09PM
inferior game on an even more inferior system, 'nuff said
trotskylite @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:11PM
wow now i can play a bad game on a platform that doesn't have the capability for me to complete the game which i wouldn't have wanted to finish in the first place because it's so terrible.
stop the presses.
Shagittarius @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:15PM
Nintendo Fanboys sound like Luddites everytime something cool comes out thats not on a nintendo system.
I hope you guys have fun slowing the advancement of the games industry and possibly setting another crash in motion. Maybe when thats over you'll go away.
Exo @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:19PM
Maybe your computer will catch and then everyone can be happy
Ska Oreo @ Sep 3rd 2007 3:54PM
aaah I love waking up to the smell of idiocy in the morning(or in this case afternoon).
Fatass of Kickassness @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:07PM
Hmm.
People don't like Lair.
There's only one explanation for this... they're Nintendo fanboys! I mean, only Nintendo fanboys would be able to hate on such a GREAT title like Lair.
JanJan @ Sep 3rd 2007 4:29PM
and now Nintendo fanboys are whiting out your comment, just like what they'll do to this comment when they read it
Sega > Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft
DO YOU SEE?!?!
no you don't because the Fanboys have whited this out
