Just another quick opinion to throw in here:

For those that think CoD has rotten single player... screw off. For me, CoD was NEVER a multiplayer purchase. Infinity Ward has always done a great job putting you in the middle of the war and going 'holy shit, I'm gonna die'. I also love that you're not a 'one man hero' in their games. They've always had the unique ability to make their single player experience speak to me better than the other WWII shooters have. (I'm a bit of a history/WWII buff)

Halo, for me, has also always been a 'Campaign' (to include co-op) purchase for me as well. The Halo universe enthralls me. Almost in an 'Enders Game' sorta way. I just love it.

The multiplayer components of each game were just like a bonus for me. Halo invented the 'xbox' or 'halo' lans for our group, when no one had the time or desire to move our pc's around. Halo 2's online was enjoyed but died for me fairly quickly. CoD was always essentially deathmatch and never won me over like RTCW and ET's multiplayer did.

So in short, neither game was ever about MP for me.

But this time, both are sporting some solid multiplayer components and both have their strengths.
Strictly judging the two betas, I'd also have to go with Call of Duty. I do enjoy a good tactical game. But then again, when I play CoD I can't help but think 'The kill cam is great... but the film replay thing of halo is just SO much better.' (as an aside, the film and forge both TOTALLY kick ass. Having played Epsilon, I must say that the film thing is much better experienced than read about. And its even way better in epsilon than it was in the beta... not to mention how fleshed out it must be in the retail version.) But in the end, neither beta represents their game as a whole. Not even close. And it would be foolish to pass any verdicts on that criteria alone.

I personally am the type of person who has no issue enjoying both immensely. Both equally. I think that the gap between the two will just give me enough time to get the Halo co-op jitters out of my system, and I'll be ready for something different. After I then I'll finish the CoD SP, and then be ready to see-saw back and forth with my buddies from one to the other.

Both are unique enough to be enjoyed separately without one 'destroying' the other.

Here's to a great (and poor) holiday season!!

It'd be cool if 360 players could play AGAINST people on the PS3.....that might influence some sales, also the combined sales could be more comparable to Halo 3....................maybe.

i've played both and cod is nowhere near halo. yeah initially it seems more fun than the halo beta, but thats cause its new. its neat to try out all the perks and scopes and stuff, but after that i came to the realization its nowhere in the same realm as halo. halo 3's weapon balancing was perfect. cod needs a little work. dont get me wrong i love it and am still playing it alot, and am gonna buy it, but im just saying.

plus halo 3 was a true beta coming out 5 months before launch. this is what 2 months. its more a demo wrapped in beta title. but get both play both and enjoy both. but halo ftw.

Yeah, Halo3 will beat COD4, but I enjoyed the COD2 single player campaign. -So much that I beat it on the 2 hardest levels. I felt it was that good. Halo2, beat it once.. But we all know that the story in Halo2 sucked.

right?

lol... halo 2 was pretty amazing for a console online shooter, but i have to admit that wow and cs: source that released in the exact same time frame gobbled up most of my time...

but honestly... halo 3 just looks lazy... really lazy.

bungie, you insult me.
