PS3 gets firmware 1.92 [update]
As you may have already discovered PS3 firmware update 1.92 is now live, and it's the best update ever. Why? Well, because the changelog wasn't released alongside the update, so 1.92 currently has the best feature of all: Possibility. A quick glance through the NeoGAF forums shows us that the update does everything from improving the internet browser to automatically powering off controllers to improving PS1 and PS2 support and heating Toaster Strudels. So, no, we don't really know what it does at the moment. Do you have any ideas? Notice your PS3 acting strangely? Hopefully we'll know more later in the day.
Update: So, Sony released the list of new features right here. Apparently the only difference is that backwards compatibility for some PS2 titles has been improved.
[Thanks, Ghost]

that "reached the point" where it made no sense.
Night Elve @ Sep 4th 2007 9:15AM
Huh?
Lanturn of Ash @ Sep 4th 2007 9:18AM
Sony's 'reached the point' where all their updates don't make any noticible differences, but they still put them out anyway. It at least gives us the impression that they care.
And then we've got Nintendo on the other spectrum who don't give a shit about updates and are happy with terrible looking clocks and voting channels. REAL nice way to update your console, dipshits. How about you start addressing the long list of problems? Starting with being able to load from a memory card like we've been doing on consoles for YEARS?

Night Elve,I was referring to the article u had linked, if you had read it, you'd know what i'm talking about.

Yum... Toaster Strudel.
Now I seriously want a box of those...

The more and more I think about it, Sony should have delayed the launch of PS3 till Nov. 2008.
The price of the system would have been significantly cheaper and they would have had an onslaught of games.
The PS2 could have and is still keeping pace at it's super low price point and super game selection.

The more and more I think about it, Microsoft should have delayed the launch of Xbox 360 till Nov. 2008.
The failure rate of the system would have been significantly less than 33% and they would have had an onslaught of non shootan gaems.
The PC could have and is still keeping pace at it's reasonable price point and shootan gaem selection.
ThornedVenom @ Sep 4th 2007 11:32AM
I agree, but people were moaning way too much about all of the damn delays, so this is what they get.
Rask @ Sep 4th 2007 9:25AM
Where's the details on MS's fall update? Shouldn't those details have started to show up at this point??
Delta @ Sep 4th 2007 9:32AM
You probably don't want to suck all your info from a forum. Especially one that has flame wars as bad as GameFAQs.

I didn't know that you can brick PS3.
You learn something new every day...
"Great, this bullshit froze my system. It's stuck on the "Press the PS button" screen, and it's just completely frozen. Even if I completely power it down and unplug it, then restart it, it just comes up to the same frozen screen. What the fuck."
"I bricked a PAL unit a while back (system inexplicably shut off at 50% in the update) "
"Yeah, I've had an actual bricked PS3 before. This one clearly isn't."
etc.
I was under impression that was Microsoft speciality?

You obviously don't follow the PSP homebrew scene. Luckily those tricky haxorz have found a fix in pandora's battery.
Night Elve @ Sep 4th 2007 9:48AM
I don't think they have reached the point where it make not sense.
I think is a really good thing to have updates more often fixing little bugs and adding new games to the Compatibility Backward List.
It's something like what VALVe does with Steam they are always updating the platform and its games.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Sep 4th 2007 10:09AM
Toaster Strudels FTW!
No seriously more updates for the PS3 is good. I hope more release along the way. Now for the psp that's where we need GOOD Updates. All we get is security stregthens. Even the PSP slim releases with a new firmware that PSP Phat users will not be able to install.
SuicideNInja @ Sep 4th 2007 11:06AM
With Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3 out...why the hell would I even turn on the PS3?
Around these parts, something is wrong if that thing is EVER on. We've missed several updates since launch, if that says anything. From the looks of it, the next important update won't be until HOME is ready. Hopefully it's more entertaining than dinking around on for a few minutes.
GRANTED @ Sep 4th 2007 11:25AM
because i've already played enough warhawk to go through bioshock's single player twice.
and metroid has always been a poor man's fps. enjoy 480p and laggy pointer controls.
and if the only thing you are looking forward to on the ps3 is home, then you are a loser who needs to work on your actual life more than a virtual one.
if this update means fewer people will be logged out of warhawk unnecessarily, then its worthwhile. still waiting for 2.00, though--so I can get me some in-game music of my choice (here's hoping).
mr nimblewick @ Sep 4th 2007 11:38AM
"metroid has always been a poor man's fps"
Actually, this has never been the case. Especially not when it debuted on the NES.
Oh, and people say the controls are awesome.

It escapes me why Joystiq keeps using NeoGAF as a source when they have Joystiq blacklisted...
