Though it may seem tailor-made for it, a Rare staffer has confirmed that Viva Pinata won't be getting any downloadable content. In response to a fan's question in the "Scribes" column on the company's website, a member of the Viva team wrote, "We aren't doing any downloadable content for Viva Piñata because we are much too busy doing something else." So, we lose out on DLC, but gain the greatest commodity of all: Mystery.
We know it's not Viva Pinata: Party Animals, that's being developed by Krome. The team member could be talking about the DS version of the game, but we doubt it. Why not call it by name? So, it it Viva 2? Is it a new Jet Force Gemini? (No, it's probably not.) The thrill of anticipation we feel almost makes up for the lack of new, downloadable pinatas! ... Almost.

Please be Killer Instincts. This would be so awesome with Live. I think this is a game Rare needs to make. Playing online would be a blast plus it is about time there be a new one

Rare keeps coming out with duds... Nintendo was right to sell them off back when they were actually worth something.

Totally agreed, vinny.
I actually had more fun playing Kameo than I did playing Twilight Princess. The Badlands sequences were amazing.

a) There already IS some DLC for VP.
b) They promised several DLC things that they kept saying "Oh it's coming.. it's coming!" (like internet play) and now it's not?

It's probably Banjo-Kazooie 3.
My bigger question however is if Viva Pinata was ever updatable with downloadable content. Remember what is downloadable from the marketplace was already on the disk and all you were doing was buying the unlock code for it.
Which makes me wonder if they programmed the game to have new DLC at all.

It has to be Banjo-Threeie, what else could it be? I mean they've shown one trailer? They must be working on it. If it is Banjo I can't wait to play it.

I can tell you that I personally didn't buy it because I've played plenty of sim games on the PC and didn't think it could possibly compete with those.

Rare has had so many great games over the years. DKC, Goldeneye, PD, PDZ, Banjo Kazooie, Killer Instint, Jet Force Gemini, RC PRO AM! I'd take another version of ANY of those games :)

Extended animal mating sequences would be the only DLC I'd be interested in.

This really doesn't bother me. It's a great game. It's stands well enough alone. And I was totally unimpressed with Rare's DLC for other games. So I'm fine with no DLC on Viva Pinata.
I would however like to see Viva Pinata 2 at some point.
