Xbox Live down for maintenance Sept. 10

In a message blasted out to Xbox Live subscribers, Microsoft has stated that the online network will be down for maintenance on Monday, September 10th. Live will be unavailable for approximately four (agonizing) hours starting from 2:01AM PDT or 9:01AM GMT. It's currently unknown which buttons, knobs and switches will be tweaked behind the scenes, if indeed there's more to the maintenance than mere housecleaning. Now that you've been warned, please plan your slashing, sniping and obnoxious questioning of others' sexuality accordingly.

Good lord, the vast bulk of the Xbox 360 players should be sleeping around that time anyway. There is a thing called work on Monday morning we should all be going to, and it doesn't help when we're up at 3am playing Gears or something. The only folks being impacted would be that 4.5% of the worldwide customer base that happens to live in Japan, and I seriously doubt many of them will notice.

The thing is, I don't want to mute them. I don't even want to play with them. One of the reasons why I found the Halo 2 multiplayer so annoying was because there were always little kids running me over even though I was on their team. They get rid of them, and Bungie has my sale.

I'm going to assume that 360's player reviews junk will come into play. For example team killers would have bad feedback and maybe 1 star so I think they would be less likely to match up with 5 star gamers.

Well, on the Major Nelson blog on his Twitter thing, it says that he is in a meeting right now about the update. So, it isn't just something silly. I think it is the full fall update.
I'm happy to see it, the 360 dashboard could use some more freedom, when compared to the PS3's dashboard interface.
Oh, and I forget who was on Major Nelson's podcast the other week from Joystiq, but great job with that! I wasn't a Joystiq frequenter, but I will be now, thanks to hearing about you on the podcast.

I hope it's the fall update. Some new video codecs for streaming will do nicely. Especially if it's finally xvid support.

yeah, it gets annoying going through about 5 menus to see what's new on arcade, and the lag when switching blades is a little annoying. and I'd like to make custom blades, and choose a default blade when i load the system...etc.

Probably support for the Chatpad/fall update. Maybe if Good ol Bill likes us they will have a fix for the damn child account error... grrrr..

While they probably do have a major update coming for hte fall (they seem to do spring and fall), this is likely simply prep for the halo pounding the service will take as of the 25th.

The most important aspect they should add into the Fall Update is a swear jar. Swear and you pay 1-20 MS points. They'll never have to charge for Live again.

no indeed we are getting f****** from this new game called two worlds. it is so popular and who would have known. we have over 20000 new users in japan alone just to play this game. NEW MEMBERS. meaning new live accounts. as well we are going to have to clean house. becuase we are slothy lazy f****** who do not have anything more to do than think of 200 ways to take peoples moneys. like making you pay to have us look at your computer when we should fix it for free. but we dont even if its out sh999 that broke as well was come out with ninty diffrent versions of the same thing. think of the way it use to be. nes did not come out with a new nes with cooler sh9o09 it came out with snes with better games. not the same thing diffrent day. heh. but yes we are cleaning house to get rid of all the illegal things we do. haha
