Why would you keep an extra? I'm confused. I gave my old DS, which I bought used I might add, to my sister-in-law. Give it away, man, give it away. Walk into a children's ward at a hospital and hand it to a kid. Don't let it sit.

DS Phat to my brother and sister. When the next handheld comes out I'll upgrade and hand my Lite to my brother.

That Ein is awesome. :)

I keep an extra around for multiplayer with my friends who don't own one. My best friend in particular can often be convinced to play, and occasionally he steals one and plays Puzzle Quest like a fiend for a couple of weeks, then recovers. He's not into enough games to want his own.

Plus, y'know, I'm not the only gamer in the house. I'm just the one who plays DS most often. We did have another one, and that -- like a lot of our no-longer-needed gaming supplies, when to our niece.

My "phat" DS is now my 2-year-old's DS. She loves to play Super Mario DS on it, but she is now stepping up to Animal Crossing.

Why do I keep it? To run that extra town in my second copy of Animal Crossing, of course! I've got a good handle on the fruit black market... Helped pay all my mortgages!

Hospitals often don't like receiving used "toys" or things, because sick people, especially cancer patients, have suppressed immune systems and don't do well with the germs on your old stuff.

I expect that's where mine will end up in a couple of years, InvisibleMan. Unless -- the horror -- the childling doesn't want to play games.
