Rock Band tour dates across US
Big trucks, like the one seen above, will travel the country and allow people to play on a "full stage with lights and sound systems." That's much better than what you'll have in your living room. Further, "any rockers ... who play on the Rock Band tour bus stage will be captured on tape for consideration by MTV casting directors." Two bands will get picked and be flown to NYC to perform on TRL. The winning group will get to open for a "surprise super group" at the Rock Band launch concert. We don't fear the Reaper, but we do have concerns of what MTV will do to those people. We can only imagine this equation: Next + Dismissed + Parental Control + Super Sweet 16 + Rock Band = ???

whatever happened to the music videos? did they delete them?
Sean @ Sep 6th 2007 11:38AM
Most popular music nowadays is god-awful, so they can keep their music videos. Though, this doesn't detract from the fact that MTV is god-awful anyways.
blooh @ Sep 6th 2007 11:41AM
well yeah, i haven't liked almost any new music in the last 15 years. But they could play videos from the 80's, like sledgehammer and stuff. that was cool shit man :)

Game
Of
The
Year
Crono @ Sep 6th 2007 11:40AM
Too bad I'll own the game before it comes anywhere near me. So much for an early peek.
Sean @ Sep 6th 2007 11:40AM
This will probably be at some huge, suburban mall with tons of annoying people, so looks like I will be waiting.
aC @ Sep 6th 2007 11:41AM
My guess is it will release either the last week of October, or the first week of November. Only because that's when the truck is in NYC.
I'm probably way off, but hey... it's a guess. Now I just have to see if I should drive to Philly in October ;)
Wasserman @ Sep 6th 2007 11:42AM
I'm confused, isn't the new guitar hero being made by neversoft which is in fact owned by MTV? I mean I'm glad they are still going to support the competition but I am just surprised by their fervor.
rivaldi22 @ Sep 6th 2007 12:18PM
I'm pretty sure Neversoft is owned by Activision, which is, as far as I know, only owned by Activision.
Rock Band is being made by Harmonix, which is owned by MTV, which is owned by Viacom, which owns 98% of the known world.
So this all makes a certain horrible, horrible kind of sense.

"New Jersey"
lol Where in New Jersey? Everywhere??
Calviin @ Sep 6th 2007 1:04PM
I had the same question. I could understand if they did that to Rhode Island, you can drive anywhere in RI within half an hour, but come on.
Shagittarius @ Sep 6th 2007 1:40PM
The nerve to have something in new jersey and not tell us what exit its off of.
Rich @ Sep 6th 2007 11:51AM
aw, no love for DC? Oh well, I can always go to Baltimore...
baby sea tuna @ Sep 7th 2007 9:01AM
Just got an email about this, meaning the Baltimore dates up there are most likely incorrect.

whoa, looks like you can play as the incredible hulk on drums
ThornedVenom @ Sep 6th 2007 1:01PM
I'd be on the drums! Which Guitar Hero maniacs would be jamming with me? 8D
Calviin @ Sep 6th 2007 1:01PM
"November 15 – 18, 2007
New Jersey"
That's it?
No specific city or town in New Jersey?
The whole state?
AP @ Sep 6th 2007 1:06PM
This actually makes me wonder if Rock Band will be at Digital Life in NYC this month... The Conference has always had Harmonix, EA, MTV, RedOctane and Activision come... I will be attending it this year... I'm praying Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band are there...
Munsiblicious @ Sep 6th 2007 1:11PM
A small truck was at my school (WashU) on Tuesday demoing the game. Later that night, they also came to the dorm room of the editors of our on-campus music magazine for them to do a review of the game for the magazine. I live right next door, so I got the play it too. The guitar parts play just like Guitar Hero (although I couldn't figure out if there was Star Power or not). And the drum parts play just like you would expect, with the four drums corresponding to the four bars on-screen, and the bass being a line that goes across all of them. It was really fun, but it feels kind of bland. It just doesn't have the same humor that Red Octane put into the past two Guitar Heroes.

...or Don't come to Michigan
Synapse49 @ Sep 6th 2007 1:30PM
Minnesota gets no lub :(
jeffx @ Sep 6th 2007 1:29PM
looks like this rock band doesn't have the appropriate visas to enter Canada... must be drug-related.
Charron @ Sep 6th 2007 1:57PM
Just voicing a pet peeve... it's always annoyed me that things like this will happen in NYC, but nowhere else in the state. Like we don't exist or something. I mean, Buffalo is a decent-sized city, right?
jd @ Sep 6th 2007 3:56PM
no, its not
Intellectualdiot @ Sep 6th 2007 3:11PM
Why in God's name did I choose to attend college in VERMONT!?!?
VERMONT!
Sean @ Sep 6th 2007 6:04PM
:looks at handle:
O_O
GoldenS1104 @ Sep 6th 2007 5:40PM
Um... Where in NJ? It just says New Jersey... no town? I live close enough to New York to just go there, but I'd be better off seeing it in NJ cause it'll probably be less crowded.
Flaym Sior @ Sep 7th 2007 11:57AM
It's all great to know what city (or state, sorry New Jersey) it's gonna be, but what about details? Just find the trucks on the road, put a flashing light on the roof of your car and make 'em pull over?
