Tabula Rasa ends six-year wait with Oct. 19 release
If you're among those who pre-ordered the game you'll get early entry on October 16. Not only will you get a few days ahead of your buddies in terms of experience, you can also be among the first to create overly-convoluted acronyms for common in-game objects. Could you imagine being the guy who created the next "LFG" or "SoW plz"? It could happen!

Looks intresting, I haven't heard much about this game for a while
hhhWHACK a mole!
I don't know if I want to take part in a game with this Richard Garriott guy.
phobic99 @ Sep 6th 2007 1:42PM
I'll sum up my experiences with this game in a single word:
Meh.
Seriously though, I was really really looking forward to a quality MMO without swords or elves but this one falls short for the time being. Maybe I'll take another look in 6 months since that seems to be the MMO release strategy these days.
portuga-man @ Sep 6th 2007 1:46PM
this is the man that created ultima online. after he left origin the game started to suck. i trust him 100%
Word of the street. @ Sep 6th 2007 1:49PM
I would like it more as a Single player game.
OnimushaSoki @ Sep 6th 2007 1:54PM
Hopefully it's better than Lineage II... beautiful game, but boring as all hell.
It was just walking... and walking... occassional fight... walking... walking...
Crono @ Sep 6th 2007 3:59PM
That sounds like every MMO since ever. Not being insulting, but thats what makes up an MMO formula.
Thats why I don't like MMO's.
Zsavior @ Sep 6th 2007 2:03PM
I don't know it seems interesting if you like this sort of game. I like the way they have you create a clone, but I think a lot of people will not go to it.
As much as people say they hate WOW and want a change a lot of times what they really mean is they want WOW to change in their favor not really start a new game all over again. Same goes for gamers outside the MMO genre, time will tell if this game can catch on but I don't think it has the momentum right now.
Kevin @ Sep 6th 2007 2:21PM
I would play it, except that it's going to be $5/15 a month. I'll buy your game and every last expansion, but I don't want to have to pay to play every day.
Shmil @ Sep 6th 2007 2:40PM
LFG? SoW? give me a SoJ, SoJ's were where it was at
PiratePete @ Sep 6th 2007 2:50PM
Subscription sucks! I won't be playing this game at all. It's a shame cause I really would like to play this game. It seems interesting.
cliffjeff @ Sep 6th 2007 2:57PM
Ouch. The game is not ready for release. This can only go badly...
Phranctoast @ Sep 6th 2007 3:02PM
I wonder if it will find itself on the ps3 with Sonys recent relationship with NCsoft.
modified @ Sep 6th 2007 3:06PM
I'd play it if there was no subscription involved.
Durinthal @ Sep 6th 2007 3:14PM
"you can also be among the first to create overly-convoluted acronyms for common in-game objects"
Already done in the beta. Oh, and I agree with phobic99. It's not really different from any other MMO out there.
AlanRickman @ Sep 6th 2007 3:14PM
They neglected to mention the year, 9999.
Also coming out 10/19/9999, Duke Nukem Forever, and several XBOX Live accounts will be unbanned.
grable @ Sep 6th 2007 4:06PM
Been playing the beta now for a few weeks, and i have to say i like it.
Its a breath of fresh air after all these fantasy mmos!
rinks @ Sep 6th 2007 4:11PM
I would like it more, but for some reason it runs like ass on my brand new PC (and NVIDA 8x series card). I've got to drop the resolution just to get a half decent frame rate, and it still looks meh. Neat idea though, guess we'll see.
ZapDash @ Sep 6th 2007 4:26PM
At the beginning of the video it looked like he was playing Zelda, the thing on the characters back and the greenish color threw me for a loop.
yojimb0 @ Sep 6th 2007 5:28PM
I like how much general chaos seemed to be going down in that environment. Enemies and players doin stuff and movin around all over the place... not nearly as rigidly patterned as fights in WoW tend to get.
I think the way the specialization stuff works is kind of stupid though. Part of the joy of an MMO is learning how your specializations work best in concert with the abilities of others, making the coop experience extremely satisfying. If for the first 15 levels everyone is pretty much the same, you really miss out on that part of the game.
Dan @ Sep 6th 2007 5:28PM
I'm enjoying the Tabula Rasa beta, but I don't think I'll pay 15 bucks/month for it. Guild Wars has the right idea.
savagenapkin @ Sep 6th 2007 5:33PM
That sure was a good episode of Buffy, though.
Tom @ Sep 6th 2007 8:45PM
The best episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Did you think I was just gonna let that slide?! Everyone knows that "Once More, with Feeling" is the BEST. EPISODE. EVAR! I mean, like, duh!
...oh wait there's a story about some video game, hmm looks interesting...
baby sea tuna @ Sep 7th 2007 8:39AM
Personally, I'd vote for Becoming Pt. 2...but it's all opinion anyway.
HyperOnion @ Sep 7th 2007 8:54PM
Man, everyone knows the best episode of Buffy was Restless.
Once More With Feeling, Becoming Pt. 2, and The Body are all fair choices too...
Guy @ Sep 7th 2007 12:52AM
I wanted to name my character Randy Giles, but that last name was already taken.
Tom @ Sep 7th 2007 2:21PM
Randy Giles!? Why not just call him Horny Giles or Desperate-for-a-shag Giles!?
Xeno Mezphy @ Sep 7th 2007 1:04AM
Lord British sends you word from the future!
"Tragically, I can inform you that the Earth is going the be invaded by an Evil force that we call the Bane."
The end is nigh! Flee to your bomb shelters so that we may learn skills from a completely different alien force!
Barb Dybwad @ Sep 7th 2007 4:13PM
have been playing in the beta, and as a wow player am excited about what TR does differently. echoing what yojimb0 said, the world environment is more dynamic with enemies dropping literally on top of you unexpectedly. the futuristic sci-fi/tech theme is also a welcome change.
Volomon @ Sep 9th 2007 4:20AM
I'll tell you how bad this game is its so bad, that they should not bother releasing the game due to the incredible damage it will do to the creditability of Richard, game developer, and the publisher.
Thats how bad it is.
